Kerstin I just started At Grave's End (Night Huntress, #3) by Jeaniene Frost . Needed a bit of a Bones fix!

I currently can't imagine Mencheres as a romantic lead so I'm sort of curious to pick up Eternal Kiss of Darkness (Night Huntress World, #2) by Jeaniene Frost in the near future.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 474 comments That's what I thought even after having read all of them! I was pleasently suprised, although he is not the burning hotness of Bones, he will do as a substitute lol

message 1453: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin Well, I think there aren't many could substitute for Bones ;).

Amen.

I tried to stick to my nonfiction, but realized tonight is the deadline for my series challenge on another site, so I blew through and liked
Renegade (Elite Ops, #5) by Lora Leigh

Now I have to read some stuff that will be overdue at the library soon, I'm not sure which I'll pick up next but I returned
Veil of Night A Novel by Linda Howard unread because I wasn't in the mood for it.

Amanda (kittiescardigansbooks) | 207 comments Just finished Dark Deceptions (A-Tac, #1) by Dee Davis and Dangerous Desires (A-Tac, #2) by Dee Davis in short order. Began Desperate Deeds (A-Tac, #3) by Dee Davis , but realized I was a little burned out on the series after reading the first two so quickly. So I put it aside and I'm reading I'll Be Slaying You (Night Watch, #2) by Cynthia Eden and digging it! I am really liking Cynthia Eden's books so far!

Melanie (melaina) | 411 comments Sorry! Been out of touch since Sat, when I read Divorced, Desperate and Deceived (Divorced, #3) by Christie Craig , which, although not my favorite CC, was cute:4 stars..
Sunday, despite my boyfriend's birthday, I did manage to read Truth Or Dare by Lori Foster , which was basically three novellas about three best friends, and was cute, although very lacking in plot, lol.. 3.5 stars.. Yesterday I finished Princess of the Midnight Ball by Jessica Day George , a cute fairytale retelling (12 Dancing Princesses) for the SRC, and finally got around to reading The Hunger Games (Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins and Catching Fire (Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins , which I've been putting off.. what a mistake!!! They're fabulous, if a little depressing!! Now, naturally, I don't have the last book, and will have to wait till I get to the US in a week! I hope Katniss and Peeta get their HEA!!! 5 stars to both books (which will both count for the SRC)...
Then, True Colors by Diana Palmer by Diana Palmer, and 4-4.5 stars... Cy is such an a** to Meredith!!! and not just once, but over and over... but since it's DP, and that's expected, I did enjoy it:-p

I agree, the Wallflowers have made a Kleypas fan out of me. I've got the rest of the Hathaways and all the Bow Street Runners requested from my public library's website, they're shown as 'in transit' now.

Currently reading something I got through pbs today, which has a Kleypas novella in it...
Christmas Love Stories by Kay Hooper

Tammy Walton Grant (tamgrant) Hi everyone, I'm re-reading To Love a Dark Lord

(just to make sure it was as good as I thought it was when I read it MUCH too quickly in August, lol)

I've got the trilogy checked out from the library but have not begun.

Had a full day today, but managed to get my mail and was thrilled to find a package from amazon.com, I tore it open and right away read
Soul Deep (Breeds, #5) by Lora Leigh which was good but not the best in the series.

Carol Cork *Young at Heart Oldie* (httpsrakesandrascalswordpresscom) Mollie - I'd be interested to hear your impressions of the first book in the series 'Sugar Daddy'.

Loved it! It was different for me than what I usually read; for more about my opinion than would fit here, follow this link...

Mollie's Review of Sugar Daddy

Busy today, may begin Blue-Eyed Devil (Travises, #2) by Lisa Kleypas tomorrow.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 474 comments I hope you like Blue-Eyed Devil (Travises, #2) by Lisa Kleypas Carol, I thought they were really good, that one and Smooth Talking Stranger (Travises, #3) by Lisa Kleypas were my faves in the series. But I liked Sugar Daddy as well, it was just that I thought the romance wasn't as well done in that one, especially compared to the others.

Glad to know it, thank you, Suzanne. I just renewed them so I can savor them instead of rushing (thank goodness for online library renewals).

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 474 comments I use that aswell, otherwise I would be charged a fortune for late backs!

I hope you like them, although I think I prefer her historicals, I thought they were good.

I know what you mean, I just got the next of the Hathaways and the first of the Bow Street Runners off the reserve shelf.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 474 comments Ow the Hathaways, I feel like rereading those soon, they are really good. I have only read the first book of the Bow Street Runners, you will have to let me know what the rest are like

message 1469: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin I only read Sugar Daddy so far but really enjoyed it. I would love to read some more of Kleypas books but my library only has that one. Well, there are 13 of her books listed in the catalogue, but they are all missing! Would you recommend buying them?

Currently reading The Darkest Night (Lords of the Underworld, #1) by Gena Showalter

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 474 comments I would I love Lisa Kleypas. I think some of her best works are the Wallflowers series:

Secrets of a Summer Night (Wallflowers, #1) by Lisa Kleypas It Happened One Autumn (Wallflowers, #2) by Lisa Kleypas Devil in Winter (Wallflowers, #3) by Lisa Kleypas Scandal in Spring (Wallflowers, #4) by Lisa Kleypas

But one of my fave standalone books are:

Suddenly You by Lisa Kleypas

message 1471: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin Thanks for that! I'll keep them in mind on my next book shopping spree, which is hopefully not too far off :)

message 1472: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (kittiescardigansbooks) | 207 comments @Suzanne - I totally agree with you! Love the Wallflowers series. My favorite was the third, Devil in Winter. Love, love Suddenly You too! The heroine is so different from what you normally encounter in historicals.

Suzanne, I've just finished 'Blue Eyed Devil' and loved it. I think Hardy will definitely go onto my list of favourite heroes. I am really looking forward to Jack's story. In 'Sugar Daddy', I found I could not connect with Gage. It may be because Hardy had figured so prominantly in a large proportion of the book and when Gage appeared on the scene, there wasn't enough time to fully develop his character. I also felt a lack of romance between him and Liberty. There seemed to be a lot of sex but without any real emotional feel. That's how I perceived it but others will probably disagree. In BED, I liked Gage so much more (OMG - I just realised what I've put - LOL).

Carol, I like Hardy a lot. I didn't feel like it was real what he did in Sugar Daddy. He wasn't the same guy that Liberty grew up with. I'm excited to read Blue-Eyed Devil.

message 1475: by Love love (new)

Love love | 151 comments I just started Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward and so far I think that Wrath fits the 'Dangerous Hero' title.lol Great book so far. =)

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 474 comments @Amanda- I agree I really liked Amanda from Suddenly You, she was a great heroine, as for Jack *sighs* so yummy : ) Then Came You is also another good one although it isn't really a stand alone, but Derek Craven is my fave LK hero!

@Carol- I agree, I was convinced that Liberty was going to eventually get together with Hardy in Sugar Daddy (hadn't read the blurb for Blue-Eyed Devil) and when she got together with Gage, which was really sudden, one moment they detested eachother, the next they were bonking like bunnies! I still liked it, but I didn't feel the romance like you do in the next two.

Finished the Travises Blue-Eyed Devil (Travises, #2) by Lisa Kleypas Smooth Talking Stranger (Travises, #3) by Lisa Kleypas and also Married By Morning (The Hathaways, #4) by Lisa Kleypas . I hope she plans another for Joe Travis. Will start the Bow Street Runners soon. Currently reading more of the Bram Stoker bio and a nonfiction book called Knitting Lessons which is part memoir and part collection of interviews.

Suzanne, I had trouble identifying with the characters, but otherwise they are good. I think this trilogy, more than most, ought to be read in order. I guess I liked them equally well, gave each 4*

I've saved detailed reviews of each if you care to look.

message 1493: by Julie (new)

Julie (rosendal) | 36 comments Hey Danielle :)
Yeah I'm liking it so far too, it's not my favorite in the series though, but that can still change, I'm only halfway ;) Can't wait to dig into Lords of the Underworld, it sounds way awesome :D

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 474 comments LOTU is great Julie, I love the idea of it and ofcourse the heroes in it are just droolworthy and tortured and *sighs* oh so good! lol Not such a fan of the Midnight Breed seris though, but I have only read the first two.

I am still reading The Passage by Justin Cronin , which is really good, and have just finished The Captain of All Pleasures (Sutherland Brothers, #1) by Kresley Cole , which is on of Kresley Coles (LOVE her) historicals, and Derek Sutherland is definately a bad boy : )

message 1495: by Julie (last edited Sep 12, 2010 11:22AM) (new)

Julie (rosendal) | 36 comments I believe you Suzanne. I read almost every review on the series here, and pretty much all of them were great, so I decided to give them a try too :)
As for Midnight Breed, many doesn't like them because they compare them to Black Dagger, but that's such a shame! I like Midnight Breed better. It doesn't have all the damn slang (it has started to annoy me) and the lesser parts, which I always found myself skimming through :) Still like Black Dagger though, But Midnight Breed is the best :)

I think if you like this series, you'll like Tara Janzen's Steele Street series. No paranormal elements, but fast paced action/adventure with a lot of quirky humor. Start with
Crazy Hot (Steele Street, #1) by Tara Janzen
I finished my first Bow Street Runners books and liked it a lot, but didn't love it the way I loved the Wallflowers/Hathaways. I'm waiting for the library to get me the second in the BSR series, I've already got the third checked out. I'm #172 in line for the next returned copy out of fifteen copies in the county of the Janet Evanovich book that's coming out next week, and they don't show a large print version in the system (usually a shorter wait).
Last night I read and loved Breaking Loose (Steele Street, #10) by Tara Janzen
