But I think a lot of that is because the world was already set up so you weren't bogged down in learning all the rules.

Darcy, thank you! The reason I haven't given up on the series all together is exactly for that reason. Book 1 is almost always the weakest book in any series with all the backstory, setting up new worlds, etc... I'll be sure and read book 2.
I know what you mean. I hate it when series suffer from 1st book syndrome.
Yes, should be read in order...or you'll be lost. I am now onto the third book.

I finished Death's Mistress, this book was pretty good. Started book #1 in Breed series Tempting the Beast. Now this one is really good.

I really like the Breeds, Carolyn. Especially the more recent ones. Dawn's Awakening is my favorite, with Coyote's Mate and Mercury's War close behind.You're lucky because I've been waiting for YEARS for Jonas Wyatt's story to come out (as you go through the books you'll see why) and it's due out next month. YOU won't have to wait!
I agree that Jonas' story will be a good one. He is such a manipulator that I would like to see him get his on this end.
Oh yeah... and remember in Bengal's Heart, Law and Rule and all the comments THEY were making? Ha! I can't wait for them to 'get theirs' too!
Carolyn, check places like Thriftbooks.com for the earlier copies. They have free shipping. I've had really good luck with them.
Dhestiny - there's an excerpt of Jonas' book on Lora Leigh's website if your interested. Short but really good. Darcy - book #1 is an Ellora's Cave publisher book that's probably why you can't find it. I broke down and bought if off Amazon but even used it was about $9.50! I don't know if the libraries even get that publisher, which they should because they have a ton of good authors. I wish I had read this one first though because it goes into how they all became public. It's really good.
I will probably end up buying them. There are a couple that I can't get from the library. It seems like they have re-released some of the earlier ones as the series has become more popular, but am having a hard time with the first 3.

Started
last night, was only going to read 50 pages and then go to bed. I wasn't even sure if I was going to like this one as Hardy was so bad at the end of Sugar Daddy, but ended up liking it so much that I stayed up until after 1:30am to finish it. Today I will start

I'm now reading Take Me, and just finished a 13 ppage kissing scene, yep, just kissing! The chemistry is amazing between there characters...right from the beginning!

I read Rapture and Pleasure, these books were so good. I'm reading A Girl's Guide to Vampires which is a screwball comedy with a little romance thrown in.

I'm reading Gabriel's Ghost by Linnea Sinclair. It's sci-fi romance, lots of action and definitely a bad boy hero. Even though I don't read sci-fi, I'm really enjoying it!

I started Wild Card by Lora Leigh, and Lover Eternal by JR Ward. So far I've finding that Wild Card is a little easier to get into.

I finished Shift and Dates From Hell, enjoyed both these books. I'm reading The Protector right now and it's pretty good so far.

I didn't mind My Immortal. He is a little more of a pansy, whinny about a choice he made and it didn't go the way he thought.
I'm not liking it much so far Danielle, but I'm only on page 58.
