I am somewhat torn as to how to rate this book. There were things I really liked, things I found lacking, and things I seriously had a problem with. In all honesty, Last Kiss Goodnight is my least favorite of Gena Showalter's books and the fact that I've come across a book of hers that I didn't particularly like makes me feel a little sick to my stomach.

I have worshiped at the Showalter alter for years and have become intensely engrossed in all of the worlds she has created. There were things I

OtherWorld Assassin book 1. Paranormal romance. Good vs Evil.

Solomon Judah wakes up in a Circus cage. Unable to escape due to high-tech bindings, he’s at the mercy of care keepers and the venomous circus owner.
Vika Lukas knows exactly how bad the punishment for not obeying can be. Deaf because of those punishments, Vika is extra careful around all the caged otherworld beings while she feeds and bathes them and plans for her eventual escape.

Vika is truly h

What we have here??

Oh yes, the cover!! So pretty, the red dress, so lush and sensual. Then the cage, the man trapped inside, the creepy area. Purrfect! And I think, this is the best cover of Gena's book so far! :D
Last Kiss Goodnight is another spin off from my author goddess, Gena, and seems like the Alien Huntress that got the spin-off.
I wonder when she will continue her main series (LOTU and Alien Huntress), but this cover is definetely keeper! I will read anything this woman write! (except he

If you have read this authors Alien Huntress series then this spin off will surely be on your radar. First off I admit I've come late to this new series but it's been something I've tried to find time for for what feels like simply ages and with that gorgeous cover there was no way I wouldn't get to it eventually . So with no further ado here are my thoughts.
Vika perplexed me with her stubborn refusal to leave what's truly a diabolical life. I do understand she has felt let down badly by others

This is without doubt the most disappointing big new release I have ever had the misfortune to look forward to. The love story, about an alien imprisoned in a circus zoo who falls in love with his keeper, is atmospheric, and the pacing is well done, but the barely disguised evangelism? Oooof, it was a bit too much for me to take. I found myself skipping chunks where I had the interplay of Christian ethics explained to me like a four year old at Sunday School - I have listened to sermons more sub ...more
This is hard to rate, but I think 3 stars, because it was somewhat enjoyable, and had some yummy scenes. LKG is the first of a new series by Gena Showalter. In the preface, she writes that God helped her through a dark time, and based on this plot, it was a VERY dark time indeed. (My sympathies for her painful illness.)

Contrary to some reviews, the Bible verse at the beginning of each chapter didn't bother me. It seemed fitting for such a dark plot, actually. Verses were also scattered within t

'Last Kiss Goodnight' is classic Gena Showalter, and yet the depth of her stories just seem to keep getting better and better IMO - but, beware! Those who are looking for the, ahem, "spice" Showalter typically sprinkles liberally throughout her stories need to be a bit more patient with this one... apparently the payment for a deeper story is fewer sexy scenes (and I noticed that with 'Wicked Nights' as well). However, I'm totally ok with that if it means (for the most part) we get a t

I absolutely love that Gena Showalter is expanding her Alien Huntress world with this spinoff series. This story serves as a great introduction for new readers, but also fits very well with the existing books. It has a sexy, unloved alpha-male... and a tortured heroine who hasn't allowed her difficult life to diminish the light of her spirit.

Vika grew up under the cruel hand of her father, the owner of a traveling circus. His menagerie once held exotic animals. Now, members of otherworld races a

I love Gena - absolutely love her. She had me at the first book of her LOTU series and it went from there. I will read anything that Gena writes...but this book was disappointing. I finished it and I felt cheated. Where was the snark? Where were the snappy come-backs? Where was the steamy sex?

This book fell flat on its pretty face. I always look forward to the next book in one of her series but I have to admit I couldn't care less what happens next in this one.

The writing was stilted. The dialo

Solid entertaining fast moving paranormal/sci fi romance read. A very strong first in a series from an author who can be hit or miss for me. This is near future sci fi ish stuff. Aliens have come to earth but via doorways rather than space ships. The set up is three otherworldly guys who work as a deep black ops unit are attacked. The story follows one of the guys who is injured and sold to an evil circus as a side show attraction. The daughter of the circus owner, who has spent her life abused, ...more

It is with great sadness that I have to give one of my favourite authors 3 stars. I love Gena Showalter's work. Her Lords of the Underworld are perfection.

I think when you love someone so much and your expectations are so high, you can easily be disappointed. I expected something similar to LotU. The same type of romance and sexy dominance in her heroes but I really didn't feel the buzz with this book.

I found too many things that were brushed over when they needed to have more detail. I.e. Vik
Vika is a timid spirit, broken down by her father's continued abuse. She desperately wishes to free the captive otherworlders and escape the zoo herself, but she is afraid of being caught and suffering from her father's ministrations once again.

Now, Jecis has found Soloman Judah, a Black Ops agent and has caged him as one of the zoo's newest attraction. Vika is unnaturally drawn to Solo and although she cannot free him, she decides to secretly care for him instead, hoping that keeping him alive

I have seen a lot of mixed reviews about Last Kiss Goodnight and now after having read the book, I can see what people's issues may be buuuut I really enjoyed it. For me it had the main ingredients of a book I know I won't be able to put down:

1. A sexy, growly, rugged, intense and delicious hero (who also happens to resemble an alien version of the Hulk, only he goes a lovely shade of red when angry)

2. A heroine that I like, how many times are books spoiled by heroines you want to punch
First of all I would like to address the cover of this book, which is gorgeous! I love the bright red dress and everything else in black and white. I’d have to say one of my favorite Gena Showalter covers and she does not slack in the cover department.

I love Gena Showalter I really do! Her books tend to be smart, funny and action packed. This book is a spinoff of her Alien Huntress series, which is among my favorite series. This book however left me a bit disappointed.

Don’t get me wrong, I lov

Gena Showalter does it again! I have been a faithful reader of everything Gena Showalter since I picked up my first LOTU series book and fell in love with her writing and characters. She is on my auto-buy list and has yet to disappoint. I was super excited to see that she started a new series and that there were going to be sexy black ops agents.

So, Soloman Judah is a black ops agent…duh. Well, tragedy strikes at a meeting with his team and he is knocked out. When he wakes up he finds that he

AMAZING!!! This book was so hard to put down for mundane reasons like work, preparing meals for my family and being a mom! ;-) It is an absolutely riveting read! Love, love, love it and am so glad it's the first in a new series! Can't wait to read more and hopefully get to know Blue, John and Michael.

If you get the chance, pick it up and give it a read! It has a bit of everything... being from other planets, love stories, action, adventure, good vs evil - everything you need to keep you riveted

The first half of the book was awesome.....then it's all mushy lovey dovey and getting to know each other phase that dragged on to 80% of the book! Finally, an intimate scene we'd anticipated since forever and all we got is a scene that lasted a few paragraphs. That's fine too if it wasn't so vague in description and lacking in sensuality.

What happened? Is this a YA...this is insulting, even for a YA.

It's really hard to explain what this book is about, so just click on the green link if you want to find out in detail . If not, then the only thing you need to know is that there are 2 main protagonists, female ( Vika Lucas) and male ( Solo Judah).

Lat kiss goodnight is set in a zoo where Otherworlders are the main attraction. Vica is the daughter of the zoo's owner. Her task is to basically take care of the Otherwolders ( they'r locked up in cages). Whe

There's something to be said for an author that can disturb, upset, and gain a whole new level of respect from a reader at the same time.
When I read an authors work there are usually three rules I look for that shouldn't be broken.
Don't make it personal, don't include or put upon your personal belief systems onto anyone that reads your work, and don't alienate your readers.
Everyone is entitled to what they believe and what you do in your personal life however many barriers that may cross is y

I was soooo excited to get my paws on this book because, well the cover is to die for, and I was hoping for a glimpse of Dallas.

From the very beginning of the book I knew this would be a unique story. We have a heroine who is deaf, and a hero who is sort of a monster amongst his assassins and he kind of has a little devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other. Almost literally. Then there’s the actual premise of the book being in a freak circ

What it's about: Gena Showalter wrote a fantastic series, the Alien Huntress books, that have two of my favorite books in it: Awaken Me Darkly and Savor Me Slowly. This series opened readers' eyes to Aliens, Otherworlders and the organizations that control them all. Last Kiss Goodnight is a part of a new series, called Otherworld Assassin, and overlaps with the Alien Huntress world. Solo is a brute: He's an alien who is Black Ops, and he was captured and imprisoned in a zoo featuring Ot

Our Review by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson:

I adore Gena Showalter's books. I'm obsessed with LOTU, devour the Alien Huntress books, and am smitten with her new YA. So, when I heard that Gena was writing an Alien Huntress spin-off I was beyond excited.

First off, as always and expected from Gena, Last Kiss Goodnight gives us a fascinating world, lovable characters, & a unique story.

Gena celebrates her faith in this book by prefacing each new chapter with a bible verse, and u

Well, let's see... I hate Sci Fi, I hate aliens and alternate reality, I despise circus stories since I first watched an episode of Little House on the Prairie where Laura went to a circus, and I hate reading spin off series without having first read the primary series that they are a branch off of... So how did I like Last Kiss Goodnight which would fall into ALL of those categories? I DEVOURED it!

Nothing happens but cage, beating, humiliation for 3/4 of the book. All during this time it was childish, felt like a young adult book, and you were getting preach at about good vs evil and love vs hate in a very black and white way. All the bad people, completely bad, evil, no redemption. The good people, could get their redemption but had to let evil out, yadda, yadda, yadda.... angel vs devil figure on the shoulders. The story of David and Goliath. The Bible verse every chapter, a

Haven't read Gena's books in a while now but damn this was a good beginning to the new series. It reminded me of the early LOTU books! Obviously feel in love with characters... Strong female who despite all the crappy people on her life somehow manages to stay strong and positive. I like how Gena explained the thought process behind Vika's reasoning that she couldn't give in to any of the darkness surrounding her. Last Kiss Goodnight is my second Gena Showalter read, but first of her adult read.

There's just so many types of Otherworlders that I'm a bit overwhelmed. Still I'm not used with the species but since they don't affect the story

This is a fairly nice story.

Vika was under the care and "love" of her twisted cruel father since a child . Whereas Solo was luckier but wasn't by much either.

However Solo has this Good advisor - X and Bad advisor - Dr E. (like an angel on your right shoulder, and
Macho man Solo finds himself in a cage, drugged unable to free himself. He is is a circus of others, run by a mad man, a wicked warlock and his daughter. The cruelty leveled on the others is heartbreaking and the daughter is driven to try to help. There is a problem with that, she is a captive herself. After years of horrible abuse, she tries and now she wants to try for Solo.
This is a pretty dark fantasy/romance. 9/10 of the book is about being captive, controlled, and finally escaping. The las
