Martina's TBR Clean-Up Challenge - 3/9 COMPLETEDImmortals: The Darkening by Robin T. Popp (★★★) is the second book in the multi-author series about The Immortals, ancient warriors created to protect the world from evil. In The Darkening, brother Darius is summoned by the white witches of NYC, but appears to Lexi, a werewolf & bounty hunter. Together they're fighting to prevent the duo of a high-level demon and Tain, a brother turned traitor, from opening the gate to Hell and releasing the 666 Hounds of Hell.
Elements of this series are remniscent of Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood & Showalter's Lord's of the Underworld series. In style of writing they're more similar to Gena Showalter. I consider them a good read, but IMO, without the masterful world-building of Ward, they just aren't all-consuming enough to earn 5 stars.

I did NOT like the The Sandman Vol. 1. Yes, Neil Gaiman is an amazingly original author whom I normally adore and the comic is well-drawn & executed BUT this does not make up for the sickening horror of so much of the book in the style of Palahnuik’s put-this-author-on-anti-psychotic’s Haunted. The only reason I'm not giving it one star is the fascinating character of the Sandman and some of the amazing emotions captured so vividly in single lines ("Ask yourselves, all of you...What power would Hell have if those here imprisoned were not able to dream of Heaven?"). I can see myself asking others how things go for the hero in the rest of the series, but doubt I’ll be tempted to ever try the next book.

Poor Ann!I am finiding it hard to be home long enough to read during this Chrsitmas season. I think in the last 4 days I have been home enough to sleep and that is. I got a couple of chapters of Swallowing Darkness (Meredith Gentry, #7) last night while I had an hour before i needed to go to an info session then my last night of bowling then home to bed. Tonight is no differnt, going to my parents house for tea. I think tommorrow night I am getting home reading and finishing.
I am really enjoying the psy-changling series! I need to find the 4th book soon or else I am going to be in trouble... hehe. 5/9

Totally wrong. I love them. I have been waiting for over a month for the most recent Blaze of Memory to come in at the library--they're killing me over here. :)
And yeah for you--the 3rd book is one of my top 2 faves of the 6 I've read so far. Enjoy the Ice Man. :)

2/9 read Just finished Ashes of Midnight and I realized that I don't think I'm a big fan of the series. I think I knew that before, I just kept forgetting from book to book. It seems like it is almost exactly like JR Ward's Brotherhood series, only without all the weird slang Ward's characters use. Because it's so similar, I find I can't keep anything in this series straight. I think I'm going to stop reading this series.Next up: The Fire King

I do enjoy the Scottish werewolves! Anyway, I rearranged my list a little, because I had intended to read all the other books before starting the Kresley Cole Series, but since I didn't do that, I went ahead and moved all the IAD books to the main list. I read an alternate, Swallowing Darkness, for my last book. I was really looking forward to this book but it just didn't live up to my hopes. If it weren't for the ending I would have probably only given this 3 stars.

Melinda - How did you like Cry Wolf? I really liked it, although it's probably my least favorite of all of her Werewolf books. But the next one in the series, Hunting Ground, is probably one of my very favorites! lol, in fact, at the moment I have the audiobook of it currently playing on my stereo. It's one that I relisten to all the time!As for everyone that's finished the challenge, congrats! Of course, you are all making me feel like a slacker for not being anywhere near done!
Viehl has done it again! I loved this book. Even though it is suppose to start a new series she was able to mingle the Darkyn into the story very nicely. I highly recommend this book if you have already read the Darkyn series.6/9
