For some unfathomable reason, the library wants my copy back, so I've started reading it already.

message 73: by CJ (last edited Feb 18, 2025 04:53PM) (new)

CJ | 533 comments I'm a PDK fan so it's nice to see Ubik up there, since I've been meaning to reread that. But I also made a beeline to Libby to place a library hold on The Once and Future King.

message 74: by CBRetriever (new)

CBRetriever | 6111 comments I'm hoping for Song of Achilles as I'm using it for a challenge

Slaughterhouse-Five, The Once and Future King and Ubik are all in my 'ABOUT TIME!' list.

message 77: by DivaDiane (new)

DivaDiane SM | 3676 comments As for what’s up next, in the grouping with 5 votes, there are 3 that I wouldn’t mind if any of them advanced:

The City & the City
She Who Became the Sun
The Traitor Baru Cormorant

If you are inclined to help in that endeavor, please don’t vote for all 3 just whichever one you might be inclined (enticed) to read as well.

I added The Traitor Baru Cormorant to my list - it's the only one of the three you mentioned that I haven't read before. (Normally, I try to pick the re-reads that are first-time reads for me when I can.)

message 79: by CJ (new)

CJ | 533 comments I overlooked The Traitor Baru Cormorant on my ballot (it's been on my tbr since this group had it as a BotM) so I went back and checked it off, so that's another vote.

Zodiac, Hench, The Suicide Collectors are all high interest for me.

Zodiac is the only one on that list that has 5 votes.

Looking at some on this list and feeling the meme "we listen and we don't judge." XD

Yes! Get books you're excited about! Let's talk about 'em! You've all kindly chosen all books I've read already, except for one, so I can be ready for any VBC you throw at us!

message 84: by CBRetriever (new)

CBRetriever | 6111 comments and as per usual most of mine don't look like they're gonna make it into the top 10 (only 1 did according to the list above and it's the 10th one)

Which one, CBR? I'll vote for it.

message 86: by CBRetriever (new)

CBRetriever | 6111 comments The Aeronaut's Windlass is 10th above - I'm going to read it anyway since I have it slotted into a challenge or two

I do trade votes for votes...

a.g.e. montagner (agem) | 667 comments I don't remember seeing this much attention for rereads in recent history.

I'm actually kinda happy ith the list as it is. Maybe we can get Vonnegut or any Neal Stephenson in the final list? I've added votes for Baru Cormorant and Windlass. Is the Masquerade series completed?

message 88: by Olga (new)

Olga Yolgina | 589 comments Yes, I would love to read Slaughterhouse 5 and Snow Crash with the group.

DivaDiane SM | 3676 comments I’m looking forward to Slaughterhouse Five too. I have the graphic novel that came out a few years ago that I plan on reading.

I wasn't planning on posting another update so soon, but the math changed enough I thought I give y'all another wrap up. How are we feeling about the current top 6?

message 95: by Netanella (new)

message 100: by Olga (last edited Feb 28, 2025 10:03AM) (new)

Olga Yolgina | 589 comments Could we please switch Ubik and Slaughterhouse 5 if nobody minds?
They are similar page-wise and I've been on the brink of reading Slaughterhouse for a few months now.
