Kitty and the Dead Man’s Hand, Carrie Vaughn – 11/5/21 – ✮✮✮✰✰

Review — This is not my favorite Kitty book. It wasn’t bad, but there was too much going on and too many characters to keep track of. I also didn’t like that Kitty and Ben spent so much time apart. For two people in Vegas to get married, they spent very little time together. There was a decent set up for the next book, so I hope for a stronger story there. This book did have its trademark Kitty sarcasm, which I have come to enjoy in these books!

with the exception of this book, I really enjoyed the series and the narrator is great!

Review: I really enjoyed this book. Bowen and Mari bounce of each other was amusing. Bowen trying to fight that Mari was his mate then trying to convince her she was his mate and Mari trying to fight the lust she felt for him. I liked that the start of this book recapped the end of the last book from the other characters perspective. I liked the side characters as well and hope Rhysstrom and Cade get a book in this series.

OK, so WOW!

Yes, you all are the best team!

I'll see you in the morning with your new task!"
Well done team! I’m really enjoying this round and have mostly read great books.
When this challenge finishes I need to do a deep clean of my house it’s just been getting the minimum of effort 😂 my ironing pile is massive

Mine is closet clean out. I've got a lot of organizing I need to do!

My son wears uniform to school so I need to iron his shirts. Normally I do them all on a Sunday night but I was too busy reading last Sunday that I ironed a shirt every morning this week 😂 I usually iron while watching something on tv but I’ve hardly done that either.
I’ve managed to finish the 2 Arcs that needed to be done by the beginning of this month and trying to look for a PtP book just now before waking the rest of the family up to go to football. My son has the 3rd round of the Scottish cup this morning. Don’t want to pick a book and then it could fit for our next task for this.
I was up at 5.30 this morning - on a Saturday! I have my sisters dog who I normally have on a Sat + Sunday but 5 November is Guy Fawkes night here (Fireworks night) and idiots on her street were setting them off the night before at 2 in the morning which makes the dog bark and woke the baby so I had her terrified and barking at mine. She didn’t want to go out last night as she was scared so woke me up early.

I'm up now but about to go back to sleep. I woke up at 3:30 am and I'm so mad about. I can actually sleep in since no basketball and I'm up at 3:30!
Good luck to your kiddo today!

I hate when that happens! Hope you get back to sleep and enjoy your rest. Alasdair is looking forward to his game although it’s started to rain and windy and meant to get worse today!

Review: Bed of Roses is the second installment of the Bride Quartet. Parker, Emma, Laurel, and Mac's friendship is so strong, and beautiful full of sass, attitudes, constantly brings smiles to my face.
Yes, I can be mad and frustrated with Jack's actions and how he treated Emma once they were at his house, but at the same time, I could understand why he is acting the way he did. We all have baggage behind us.
Emma's family is so loving and accepting. I would love to celebrate Cinco de Mayo at their household and taste the wonderful and tasteful foods.
The storylines are easy to follow, the characters well-written and gathering depth with each book, and while "Bed of Roses" is traditional romance, it is also romance with enthusiasm. As stated earlier, the larger story arcs that began in "Vision" are continuing here, hopefully leading to a culmination in the fourth book. I look forward to completing this series.
Well, in Bed of Roses, we can see glimpses of our two other couples. I am looking forward to the other two books of the series.

This was cute and quirky and everything I expect from this author. I thought Everly was a little out there but there's someone for everyone right?
The end was endearing though I liked the way she came through for Sawyer. They really made an adorable family!

Review: This book started well with Carson trying to get out of an business deal and engagement by pretending he was in live with someone else. Then it got too predictable and unbelievable for my liking with what seemed to be insta love, a proposal and a wedding in the space of 16 days. Ella seemed to abandon her principles and ambition and when it came time to consider them the day before the wedding it was fleeting and brushed over. The potential was there but the middle to end of the book was lacking for me.

So the heroine was extremely immature, didn't know how to handle her emotions in slightest and seriously reminded me of a toddler. This story could have been so much better if not for how stupid and immature this heroine was.
I would have seriously DNF'ed this if it weren't for the fact that I was reading it for a challenge. Thank goodness it was short!
Then the whole mob stuff, it was ridiculous and such a stupid part of the story. And in the end they just let him out? Whatever.
Anyway, this won't be a series I continue that's for sure!

Better Off Wed by Laura Durham

Review: Better Off Wed is one of the books I got once upon a time from an e-mail book promotion. If my memory is correct, I got the book for free. I also got the book at the time that I read a lot of cozy mysteries.
Better Off Wed is a fun, cozy mystery.
Kate's incoherent and incorrect phrases made me turn my eyes as Anabelle did so many times in the book. Often, I laughed, and other times I chuckled with the situations that Annabelle, our main character, got herself in. Richard, the chef caterer, is a little bit selfish, Alexandra, the pastry is chef, is the only average person in the group of characters.
The secondary characters are corky, and each one of them is more eccentric than the other.
The murder victim was awful! I did not guess who the murderer was, although I found myself rooting for them for a while. The scenario of a handsome detective not happy with a citizen amateur sleuthing in his case is a pretty formula, though. And predictably, the amateur sleuth solves the mystery only to find herself in the cross-hairs of the murderer.
I am looking forward to continuing with the series, and I believe we would have a little romance between our immature sleuth and Reese, the authentic, handsome detective.

I am intrigued."

Review: An ok story. I think I’m being generous with the stars. Straight laced Holly was a child prodigy who struggled to fit in and always seem to do everything backwards. At the age of 30 after having her first drunken one night stand she finds out she is pregnant. After tracking down the father Gabe, she struggles with control after he wants to be involved then proposes, tells her he loves her and she ends up living with him in quick succession. Gabe was widowed and insecure Holly can’t believe he can love her when he chose his last wife and she believes he is only with her because of the baby. It got a bit repetitive with the insecurity, not wanting to give up any control and bursting into tears all the time.

Dangerous Exes, Rachel Van Dyken – 11/6/21 – ✮✮✮✮✰

Review — This was a fun follow up to the first book. Jessie and Isla made a great couple in the end, but it took a while to get there. While I enjoyed this book, it wasn’t quite as good as the first book. The story kind of veered off for a while and took too long to get back on track. It helped that there were some hysterical moments throughout the book...Isla aunt alone had me laughing out loud from the minute she first came into the story. This seems to be the end to this short series, but I wouldn’t mind seeing these characters somewhere else in Ms. Van Dyken’s books.

Review — This series cracks me up! I was sad when I reached the last book a couple of years ago, but was excited to see Ms. Langlais added to the series. It has all the humor that I’ve come to expect in this series, with a busy-body Lucifer popping in to wreak havoc!
