Prowled Darkness, Carrie Ann Ryan – 11/16/21 – ✮✮✮✰✰

Review — I’ve waffled back and forth on this series, but overall I really liked it. This was originally the last book in the series until Ms. Ryan added Dante’s Circle Reborn and it was a good conclusion for the lightning-struck friends. I liked the main couple in this story, but everything moved too fast and was way too rushed, which is why I had to pull a star. Eliana comes off as a strong woman, and she is to a point, but she caves and let’s Malik off the hook way...too...easily...in my opinion. Eliana’s immortal form is pretty badass, but I wish we could have learned more about it. Malik and his story is so glossed over it makes it difficult to root for him. And the climactic battle fell way short.

Review: Grey and Beatrice both have issues and secrets, but they spend a lot of time getting to know one another. Their romance develops quite quickly, but it is full of passion and mutual respect. They have some hiccups to their HEA, but they eventually get there.
Grey and Beatrice bicker right along with all of the other siblings in the house. It was so much fun to read because I’ve known big loving families who bickered just that way. Grey can’t believe he’s attracted to Beatrice – but he is – and he won’t allow it. He’s in full control of himself and will not allow it. Right . . . We all know how that’s going to end.
There is a light murder mystery that adds interest and intrigue to the base romance. The practical Beatrice is impressive in her outlook but a bit too easily seduced.
I am looking forward to reading more from Sabrina Jeffries and the Duke dynasty series.

looks like there is only one Kindle edition, so this is also good! =)

Review: For me, Someone Wanton His Way Comes is 2.75 stars. Someone Wanton His Way Comes is a book I picked up because of the cover (yes, I judge books by their cover) and because of the summary. But in reality, I didn't enjoy the book as I had anticipated. I wanted to like it, but I think the pacing of the story threw me off.
I think the concept of the plot is interesting and innovating. The idea of being an independent woman during the era that the book is set you don't see very often. Sylvia is a robust character, but at the same time, is hurt by the obstacles of life. Clayton is a gentleman with a capital 'G.' He cares about his family friends, especially Sylvia and her son.
I appreciate a novel that celebrates strong women who champion more rights but do you have to make them so hateful against men and marriage!? And how about the one "strong" woman who was an alcoholic.
Unfortunately, I don't think I will continue with the Wantons of Waverton series.

Review: A good 2nd chance romance. Xander has always blamed himself for Kennedy leaving 10 years previously. Kennedy’s sisters have always blamed her and accuses her of being selfish. Kennedy has kept a secret for 10 years and would have continued to keep it if her mother hadn’t passed away suddenly. Going home and seeing Xander the chemistry is still there for both and they have to deal with what happened in the past while managing the financial difficulties arising from the death of Kennedy’s mum. I will definitely read the next book in this series at some point.

Review: I thought this was going to be good. Falling for the best friend of her twin brothers unintentionally. Teagan has been kept away from boys by her twin brothers until one night at a college party when she spends the night with a guy and didn’t get his name. Declan and Teagan both try and find each other and when they do they start a relationship they keep it secret from everyone in her family. This eventually blows up and there is a big fall out before the happily ever after. This is the authors first book and definitely needed better editing as it’s full of spelling and grammatical errors. The story is very YA and both main characters have a lot of flaws that didn’t endear them to me.

Review: Grace was in a physically and emotionally abusive relationship with a cop. She managed to escape but knew he would follow her. She finds herself in Wolfe point and gets a job at a bar. She doesn’t realise it is a shifter town and that the pack alpha, Hunter owns the bar and has recognised her as his mate. Hunter protects her when her ex comes looking for her and she manages to accept that he is a shifter and completes the mating process.
I have the next book in the series which I will read to see what happens with Hunters brother and his mate. This had a slightly different take on the mating rituals than other shifter books I’ve read and their wasn’t as much detail about the pack other than Hunters 2 brothers and Eliza one of their mates.

Review: Claire has her own electrical company and is undertaking work for developer Luke and flipping a house at the same time. Luke decides he wants Claire and won’t take no for an answer. She is attracted to him and eventually gives in. There are some weird goings on at the work site with missing equipment and accidents. The house Claire is flipping is also vandalised. None of these issues are resolved at the end of this book which is annoying! There wasn’t a lot of depth or substance to this book. I might read the next in the series at some point but I don’t think I’ll be in a rush.

Review: Meg is escaping from her con artist fiancé on the day of her wedding when she bursts a tyre trying to avoid a dog. Adam the local vet is luckily nearby and lends a hand. Meg sticks around the small town with all its residents being friendly and desperate to find out her story. Sparks fly between her and Adam and there are some interesting moments with a break in and FBI involvement. A nice read and I might consider more in this series to learn about the other faraday brothers that the whole town wants.

Shy Girls Write It Better, May Sage – 11/16/21 – ✮✮✮✮✮

Review — OMG this book was such a fun and surprising gem! It may be short, but it packs a punch. My abdominal muscles are sore from all the laughing. Cassie is a shy accountant by day and an erotic romance writer by night (or during lunch). When a mishap ends with her most recent manuscript in the hands of the CEO of the company, the real fun begins. This book was pretty predictable, but it was light-hearted and well written. We get to know Cassie and Carter well enough to enjoy them, but I wish this book was longer. I didn’t want the antics to end! This is my first book from Ms. Sage, but I am looking forward to more from her and this series.

Review — I hate giving one-star reviews, but this book was just a hot mess. After being left right before her wedding, Renee decides to go on the honeymoon and try to forget her ex. What happens then is a series of strange and not very realistic events that somehow turn into love. Renee is brash and just seems so clueless. Joshua is, frankly, a jerk. His sudden turnabout to enjoying Renee’s company makes no sense. The premise of the story is sound, but Ms. North did not execute this story well at all in my opinion. I don’t believe I’ll be seeing how these two progress in this series, but will look forward to another, better book by Ms. North soon.

Review — This was a good story and I liked it, but it wasn’t great. Prudence is quite the independent American who ends up in the hands of pirates after her father is killed. She then ends up with another band of pirates when Jasper and his crew take down the “bad” pirates. Prudence and Jasper tap dance around each other for most of the book. I think I would have enjoyed it more if their relationship was built up better.

Review: The characters are very immature. Justin is a jerk. He’s realised after forever that he likes Sloane who is his sisters best friend. They nearly sleep together then Justin can’t do it as it makes girls clingy. They spend the rest of the book going back and forward with Justin being a twat to every other guy who shows interest. This makes Sloane want to go out with other guys. Nothing is resolved at the end of the book and I’m not sure I want to read another in this series.

I thought the story was cute, I liked the main characters but I wasn't a fan of that Janelle woman. I really felt like she was creepy. But anyway, I was gaga over Reeve and Sutton right until the "I'm clean/you're clean" conversation right before sex.
Seriously people, why can't you have the discussion before sex. What person in the right mind, right before they are about to get busy will answer that question honestly as they are about to put the tip in? I mean honestly, would someone after their partner says "I'm clean", go "Ah, well that changes things, I guess now would be the right time to tell you that I've got a nasty case of crabs." Come on!
We need to get that whole part of things out romance. It's now like a bucket of cold water on an otherwise *really* good scene (in this case).
Ok, my slightly unhinged rant is over, but I just had to say, I was disappointed in that and I took off 1/2 star for it.
But loved the narrator's, Joe Arden is my jam. I even listen up to the very end when it says "Audible hopes you enjoyed this program" when he's narrating.

Another completely adorable story by Ms. Blakely. But this one has a hot geek. YUM. Anyway of course the two ridiculously hot people are going to hook up but I can't imagine that a person you have such chemistry with and get a long with so well will be able to keep things just casual so you know how this one is going to go.
Great narrators. What can you say about Andi Arndt and Sebastian York? Anyway, I just had to ding this one too because of that mid-coitus are you clean conversation. GAH!
I think that's going to be my new rule. I'm dinging book that does that. Maybe it will catch on and we can stop it. LOL, I have no idea why it's annoying me so much right now.
But I have to end on a high note. That proposal! Swoon, so adorable and perfect for these two. They are so incredibly perfect for each other!!!!

I liked the first book so much so I had to go to this second one. It was a bit heavier than the first one. I hated what Parker went through. I'm sure it happens more than we think, but it infuriated me!
I was glad that Matt gave her the support and strength to open herself up to what I know had to be a really excruating experience.
I loved the side story of Willow and Jagger and was excited to see Mackenzie and Slade get some serious time in this one too. I'm actually sad that there aren't more books in this series because I really did enjoy it!

This one was pretty good. Of course these guys can't just have an easy HEA. Of course there was going to be some gunfire along the way. LOL
This was kind of like an extended epilogue and it was nice to see all the couples again. I didn't give it a full *4 STARS* because to me the sex was repetitive, even the dirty talk. So, it made it kind of ho hum for me.
Otherwise I really liked the story and loved the ending. It was nice seeing the guys again.

This was a pretty good second chance romance. These two drove me batty though with all the secrets they were keeping. They were young so I get it but I just wanted them to just TALK to each other.
I also liked the hospital drama with the doctors vs midwives, it added and interesting layer to the story.
And the pink and blue ribbons? I think I saw that on the Gilmore Girls too. LOL, it was pretty funny.

I really liked Genevieve.. She was quirky and just loved with her whole heart. I can't believe why she married her ex-husband! OMG. And it was like a friends episode when Wallace and the ex didn't see what was in front of their face, literally!
Wallace was so emotionally stunted and I get it but a couple of times I wanted to tell Gen to just cut her losses. He made up for it in the end though. Who knew he would be such a romantic.
Now I read this one after book #1 and I skipped book #2 but I don't feel like I missed anything. I will be going back to pick up #2 as soon as I can.

This was adorable. Kate and Levi are two people who were supposed to be set up on blind dates with other people end up thinking that they are supposed to be each other's date. Complete meet cute but I loved the way these two were together.
There was an interesting scene with some candy canes. Loved that he came to the airport for her, but it was a bit of a cliffhanger. Of course I'm going right to the conclusion of their story.

This one pretty takes place right after the previous one (Getting in the Spirit) ended. Kate is ready to tell Levi she's going to move to Sapphire falls but when she goes to tell him as a surprise she finds out he's in a bachelor auction and all these women are bidding on him! So you can only imagine the hijinks that will ensue there.
More confusion and then the two people they were supposed to be set up with in the previous book are involved, it's quite the ordeal, but of course love conquers all (and so does some hot sex) and Levi and Kate get their HEA, but instead of at Christmas, it happened at Valentines. :)

Review — This was quick, but unexpectedly engaging. I wish Ms. Kitt had better explained what happened to bring about the end of civilization, but I like the chemistry between Ivy and Caleb. While there was definitely hot sexy times, it wasn’t as hot as other books by Ms. Kitt, but that certainly didn’t detract from the story either.

Woah, that had a lot going on in a short book. Young girl who gets pulled into a web where a man wants her to work for her supper so to speak, the man who saves her, she runs away from, then other older guy who is old enough to be her father is getting in on with her almost as soon as he meets her. Oh, and there's some spanking and also a menage.
No one can say that Ms. Vale doesn't pack a punch with her books!
I can't say that the plot development is 5 star but these short little books are a pornucopia! James and Jonah sure did give young Tennessee an education. LOL

I was surprised by this and I really liked it but it needed to be longer. I loved Grace and she was such a badass. I just wish she had gotten more of a story. I mean she was treated like garbage by her family but still got in the trenches with them. She was brave enough to save two men she didn't know but eventually because her husbands. I am in awe of her strength and fortitude. I loved her with Charlie and Hank.
And of course, I mean this is a menage book so there was plenty of fuckery but I really wish that the story had been longer and had been able to develop these characters and their relationship more because I feel like Grace deserved it!

I started this thinking, "how in the world is this supposed to work, he doesn't even know the alien language?" But, this story really blew me away. I loved the way that Rukh and Harlow came together. How they found a way to communicate.
But for me, Rukh really stole the show. He was so naive on so many things but man, I was truly fascinated being in his head during his POV sections.
I think the author did an amazing job capturing his character and bringing his story to life. I had no idea what to expect. but at every turn I'm pleasantly surprised by this series!

The sheer number of PAGES we read is beyond what ANY team in this challenge has done and am truly honored to be your teammate!!!

These last few hours have been really stressful as it looks like we had the same idea to keep the other team guessing with late postings.
Thanks for a close fought chaillenge.
