TART Challenge - Round 4 - Have Book...Can Travel (3)

Sass, I hope your daughter was ok with the loss, especially at the last nano-second; it is a bummer.
Hazel, I am in the minority of not being fun of Leo. (Yes, I know boo too me.) maybe that's the reason I was not too fond of the movie.
Well, my birthday sometimes falls with Hannukah (the Jewish calendar is a lunisolar calendar, like Easter is not always on the same date.) I don't mind it at all.
Also, while I was living in Greece, my birthday was three days after Christmas. What irritated me was that I couldn't have my birthday party because all my friends were away for Christmas vacation.

When our kids were young, I always felt bad because even though we celebrated his Bday was always consumed with the kids. (he never complained though).

Whew! That's a lot of gift buying during December for sure!
@Avigail, my cousin is born in November and her birthday usually falls on American Thanksgiving every few years. It's nice because she usually has off around her birthday.

Here is your next task!

I’ll start on one of them now and see how many I can get done.

Review — This was a fun read set in the Qurilixen world. I’ve read some of the cat shifter books set on this planet, but this is the first one with the dragon shifters. It has promise, but fell a bit short for me. Eve accepted her fate way too quickly and the dragons just do not understand that their knowledge is way outdated. Hopefully future books will build the story stronger.

This was good. I thought I was going to be reading a romance and there was some in there but I would look at this more like chick-lit. It had mystery and suspense and a lot of drama. I really felt for Shannon at first but I came to see both she and Jay did wrong in their marriage. They were both at fault for the problems. I don't like what Jay did but I did see his point of view too. I just think he should have gone about it differently.
I liked the ending as unbelievable as it was, and I had a huge smile on my face by the end.
This is my first book by this author but I am going to look at some of her other novels as well, so this definitely won't be my last.

Review: A short historical romance. Lady Edith and her friends are out to gather dirt on Abercorn, the Duke who married their friend Tilda. On Tilda’s wedding night she was found at the bottom of the stairs with a broken neck.
Edith meets Tristan, Abercorns neighbour while she is spying on Abercorn. She thinks Tristan has something to hide and that he might have information on Abercorn. Their few interactions are amusing until on the way home Edith is abducted. Tristan sets out to rescue her and realises he is in love.
Mildly amusing but lacking depth of plot and characters.

So claim the third now and then she will just have to do the book that she's reading right now.
You could also wait until the morning to see if she's checked in and is claiming a second book.
As I'm typing this, I think that's a better plan. If in the morning she hasn't claimed a second book, I would go ahead and do yours.
I can also have a back up just in case.

This was a cute little fake relationship story. I liked the way that Adam and Jules started the whole thing. While the plot was a little far-fetched at times, I enjoyed their relationship progression. I just needed it to be a little longer to do it true justice.
Also, Jules owns a cat cafe and the whole time she talked about people eating/drinking in the cafe while handling cats, I just kept thinking...does anyone wash their hands in the process? It just sounds gross.
Anyway, this was short but cute and I think I probably enjoyed it the most out of the three books in the series. I read them out of order and read this one last.

I should have activated the sleep function but I never time it right so I am usually doing the same thing (trying to figure out where I actually left off versus where the book stopped playing).

Hey Avigail!!! You read PLENTY! We all understand that work can be crazy!!
Kathy are you good with your book?

Review: A 2nd chance romance with an unknown pregnancy. Gavin a football player from the US was scouted along with 2 of his friends to play for a UK club. He bumps into the girl who left him 6 years ago and later he finds out she has a five year old kid. The book is very surface level and states what is going on but I felt it lacked depth in both the story and the emotions of the plot.

Review — This is a cute story, but it doesn’t have much substance. We don’t get to really know Jim and Lily...just that they are “on vacation” and looking for a good time. It wasn’t until almost the end where we learned a tiny bit about both characters’ parents, but that’s it. Lily’s “secret” was annoying, but once it was out it helped the story pick up a bit.

LOL...I do that ALL the time!

you're fine and you read plenty, Sass is right. I've got this covered. =)

I'm so glad I'm not alone!

Review: When I saw the book cover and read the summary of The Chocolatier, I knew I had to read this book. I was also hesitant to start the book because I thought that I would crave chocolate, the same thoughts I had when I went to watch the movie Chocolat with Johny Debb and Juliette Binoche. The truth is no chocolate cravings on my part, but I can't promise that it won't happen to you while reading the story.
I enjoy that this rich, substantial book is a melting pot of people, history, morals, chocolate, and taking the right path through life. I got immersed in this story - with the vivid descriptions of both the characters and the locales. I felt like I was in 1953 San Francisco and then transported to the Amalfi Coast.
Jan Moran created a delectable story encircling the intricate details involved in creating chocolate and all it offers; she also entwined a tale of the ever-powerful love amongst family. Back to the chocolate!
Some themes in this story are love, second chances, betrayal, family relationships, adventure, passion, mystery. If you love reading books that the setting is on the Amalfi coast of Italy, California, and South America, you will love this story. Erin Bennett, the reader, did a fantastic job with the different characters as an audible listener. Jan Moran quickly flipped through male and female voices, giving every character their voice. It was the first time I've listened to/read this author, and I am incredibly excited to go on a journey and read more of her contemporary romance books.

I truly appreciate the help and want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your friendship is something that happened to me.

Review: I have no idea how this has a rating of 4.03. It is rubbish! Kristo is a billionaire, who attends a gala in Vegas and meets Amaya. They disappear together and wake up married. He asks her to name her price to stay married for a year. She is not a gold digger but names a price to pay off student debts, keep her disabled sister in a home for a year and have a years living expenses. When meeting his family he stops on the way and buys her new clothes so she will fit in. He makes her coffee in the morning and fixes her car. She realises she’s in love with him and walks out and to find out more you need to buy the next book. No thanks! 😂

Sass, it is interesting that your hubby didn't like sharing his birthday with the holiday. We have a lot of holiday birthdays in our family - mine is Valentine's, granddaughter's is Christmas, nephew is April Fool's, sister-in-law's is Halloween and I think I'm missing someone... I've always loved my birthday, especially when I was younger - a party every year just for me (sort of) in school. Now getting hubby to do Valentine's and birthday can be a challenge... Not sure if my granddaughter doesn't like sharing - we do cake and presents after the big dinner for her and so far she hasn't complained. My SIL LOVES her birthday and always has. 🤷🏻♀️
