Persona has it's hooks in me now, so I have three long and highly regarded JRPGs to enjoy.
I've played loads on games pass for years and saved a small fortune. And I've played quite a bit on PS+ extra too now. I have a bit of back log of games I want to play across the two services. I would say if you still buy games on release, or soon after, neither service is worth subscribing to but if like me you wait for games to come down in price or to come onto the sub services I find I'm often suprised when I see I game I plan to buy come on games pass/PS+ extra. I've literally saved several hundred it not over a thousand quid. I don't even pay for games pass (use MS points instead to pay for it) and PS+ extra I got it with 25% off (which they seem to offer at least once a year).

Hiya Glass
Ghostwire Tokyo , thats the name , i just couldnt remember .
Erm ive not played much, but seem s ok weird. I would have much prefered The Evil Within 3 which it was going to be.
I may go back to it

Doesnt help it seems to be dumping ground for just crap games , i tried The Last Case of Benedict Fox recently, bloody awful. I was going to try Redfall , but i couldnt face it it lol

Perhaps we like different games but I've played loads, most have been on my wishlist and have come onto games pass on release day. Some examples of what I've played on games pass:
Somerville
Atomic Heart
High on Life
A Plague Tale Requiem
Gears 5
Deathloop
State of Decay 2
Unpacking
The Ascent
Aliens Fireteam Elite
The Gunk
Halo Infinite
Forza Horizon 5
Sniper Elite 5
Dirt 5
Back 4 Blood
Control
Maneater
Psychonauts 2
Doom Eternal
Zombie Army 4
Prey
Rage 2
The Outer Worlds
World War Z
Crackdown 3 (ok, I'll accept defeat on this one lol)
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
And quite a few hidden gems or released later to games pass such as Omno , Chivalry 2, Recompile, Metro Exodus, Destiny 2
Honestly nearly all of the above have been on games pass on release. It's saved me a fortune and most I planned to play anyway.

Nice .. i think if i wasnt primarily on the PS5 and fought tempation to buy games on release and forced myself to actually commit to game i start even if it isnt amazing in in the first hour, like i would if i bought it , i would get on better with gamepass.
It think i was just expecting a world of amazing games i couldnt play anywhere else . Instead i got games ive already played and shite like hifi-rush and redfall.
BUT as i say i could try harder with gamepass ... but when i see reviews for redfall saying "good enough fo gamepass" it makes me worry ..... but it did give me Goldeneye so its not all disappointing.

I really want that looks amazing
Ive been playing Pavlov this weekend, superb stuff

Yea I don't disagree with you on Redfall - massive disappointment, even I've not bothered to play it, but there has been a lot of good games on games pass over the last couple of years. And on my game wishlist most have come onto games pass fortunately for me. You can get most of these games on PS5 but I find they either come onto games pass quite often on release, or relatively soon after (within the first year). PS+ extra doesn't appear to be as laden with such good games as early but there have been some good games on it too. So, I tend to wait it out, mostly but not always - I cracked on Jedi Survivor but that will definitely be on games pass within a year.

I do need to cut down on my game spending so i really should utilise gamepass more really.
im looking forward to Texas Chainsaw Massacre coming out on it
I like having Gamepass but in all honesty i dont actually need it.
Its just another layer added to my huge backlog.
But there´s some cool games in there that i have on my wishlist and i intend to play them eventually.
But i confess that the constant news on games that run worse on the Xbox X kinda annoys me enough to consider buying them for the PS5.

I'm not sure games run worse on series X. I think there were some very early in the generation but since I think it's more like comparable with PS5 and with a slightly higher resolution on X in some cases from what I've seen reported by Digital Foundry. Although generally I think it's splitting hairs.
Anyway. Over the weekend I progressed a bit further on Jedi Survivor - still loving it. The recent "performance patch" basically did very little - slightly improved but still a lot of stutter due to the frame rate. I started Humanity too. Initially impressions are it's an excellent puzzle game, with very chilled music, but then I got further into it and found it got a lot more difficult - especially rescuing the golden big fellas with the humans - and I found it kinda stessful lol. You can pause the game to plan ahead but still you're up against time before all of your humans start to fall off the edge if you don't put your direction markers down quick enough. A cracking game but not sure it's my thing - I'll give it more time and see if it clicks.

I think its due to bad optimization mostly.
I remember reading recently Ghostwire Tokyo running considerabily worse on the X which is weird since the game launched on the ps5 last year i think.

I thought it was more powerful ?
Im 6 trophies of Jedi Plat, but last ones are very grindy, i need to pretty much 100% every planet

I think its only due to bad optimization as supposedly the X is indeed a bit more powerfull.
I´ve read this for a couple of games but i dont think its a big deal.
Im currently playing Atomic Heart and it runs pretty well apart from some ocasional frame drops.

is Atomic Heart worth a play? i have it downloaded
I enjoyed Atomic Heart. It’s basically a Bishock-esque game with a bit of an open world but the game shines in the more linear underground levels not so much in the open parts. It’s a decent game but probably a 7-8/10. Quite hard in some boss fights but there is an upgrade that helps a lot - can’t remember what it’s called but it allows you to take no damage whilst dashing.

Im enjoying it quite a bit.
As Rob said, its very Bioshockish. Its not an immersive sim but it feels like one, if you know what i mean.
The world itself is very well crafted.
I keep going back and forth to the save rooms everytime i feel like its worth to save again which adds to the immersion , as everything starts feeling familiar after a while.
The enemies are a bit harder then usual which also adds a bit of survival horror to the game.
Im still in the first underground area (4 or 5 hrs so far) though and havent yet seen the open world at the top.
I also found a skill which has been very helpfull when dealing with enemies. Its called Mass Telekynesis and allows to suspend enemies in the air leaving them defenseless while it lasts. Since i started using it it became a lot less chaotic when im attacked.

If I would recommend two upgrades in Atomic Heart it would be Sleazeball (take no damage whilst doing dodges) and Second Wind (which allows two dodges in a row, so two back-to-back chances to take no damage). Made a big difference for me when really getting battered as it meant I took less damage. And you can reset upgrades at any vending machine so you can reassign upgrade points whenever you like. These upgrades don't seem that enticing on paper but they help a lot.

Awesome Rob.
I´ll definitely keep that in mind as i have a feeling Mass Telekynesis wont be very helpfull when facing giant bosses.

I've read lots of times that the SX tends to hit a higher resolution than the ps5, but the ps5 runs games at a more consistent 60fps...by all accounts the differences both ways are negligible. Both beast machines.
Same with the ps5 being a better 4k blu-ray player - you can only tell if you have both machines set up on identical tvs, side-by-side, and you have terminator eyes lol

In other news i am livid, despite spending 54 hours on jedi Survivor i cant get teh plat , one of the trophies has glitched. Seems it s happened for quite a few people.
This is why i dont trophy hunt, its annoying as fupp.
oh well it was a brilliant game none the less, now on to Horizon Forbidden West

That sucks mate.
Hope they fix it and you get the trophy.
I myself still enjoying Atomic Heart.
Still in the underground facility and no glimpse of the outside open world but no complaints so far.

Good game Forbidden West. I wasn't a big fan of the first one but the sequel for me was the better game. I'm still only just half way through Jedi Survivor but next for me Is Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart - quite looking forward to it if only for the excellent graphics (so I believe) and the fast load times in game transitioning from one world to another super quick during game play.

Yeah i wonderd about that Thymesia , looks like if you ordered Bloodborne from Wish.com ;)
I really wish i got Diablo games, ive got one on my switch and i just dont get the hook. Ive played a good few hours but just seems slash slash. No real story to speak off? . I guess its all about the loot ?
As i say i wish i got it , cause the whole aesthetic is really cool.
Im clearly in the minority its massively popular, so sure its just me.

I liked Diablo 2 more then D3 but i cant tell you exactly why.
D3 was that perfect game to switch of the brain, kill monsters and level up. If you get in the mood it can become really addictive but i always go back to D2 when i think of the franchise.
I havent seen anything of D4 tbh. Does it look good?

Yeah everyone said its addictive, but never grabbed me .
new one looks the part.
I see xboxs name all over it, is it going to Gamepass does anyone know ?

I played one of the betas and had a fantastic time with it. It will be Diablo, but there is a return to the darker aesthetic of II rather than the neon explosions of III. There are still acts, but just one giant overworld they plop you in the middle of to start. It looks and feels great to me, but it doesn't really shake up the Diablo formula all that much, other than how your dungeon crawling is structured.

Gutted to read its not getting a physical release

If digital meant cheaper i would be ok with it , but it doesnt on my bloody PSN store lol
Im still old school, i have warmed to digital and i do buy more, but i still like my boxes. Resi4 remake cost me £45 from game collection had a lovely 3D box art and just looks great . Its £60 on the store i believe
I’m worried by Alan Wake 2. It looked impressive but apparently the standard edition is only £49.99 on console (£39.99 on PC) which to me suggests it’s a small short game, akin to American Nightmare. Like a dlc standalone game. I hope I’m wrong. I don’t trust this no physical version makes the digital version cheaper. If it was a full AAA game with 12+ hours of game play it would be £69.99 like most other digital AAA games but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s only 4-5 hours long.
Morning all
I need advise on how to deal with the topside open world village area in Atomic Heart.
I got there and 5 minutes after i was Benny Hilling through the area just trying to stay alive.
Ended up ignoring all threats and cameras and ran like a baby to my objective marker.
Damn...that area was brutal...

Yea it’s annoying glass. There are cameras everywhere. You can only really sneak very very slowly avoiding or destroying cameras before being seen. Or move fast, out run enemies and kill whatever comes at you and move on again. And you can use vehicles - do use them as it makes the open world tolerable - but they are very weak so if you crash into too many enemies the vehicle will explode with you inside it. The dungeon areas are really great but the open world parts they really shouldn’t have bothered.

I see.
Thanks Rob.
I still dont have vehicles but i´ll surely ran through the map and wont bother too much exploring. I really hate having to be in constant stress in games.
Thats i would love to play survival games but i end up not doing so.

Once you enter the open world for the second time - not the first part with the battle granny - after your first full dungeon level you can use vehicles and they’re just lying around to be used.
I´ve been wanting to replay games like Alien Isolation, Soma, Days Gone but my huge backlog always puts me off.
On other note, so far i cant say im not enjoying Atomic Heart.
It has a Bioshock feel to it that im finding really interesting.
The game is quite difficult as the robots i´ve met so far hit really hard but that puts in more serious and tense tone to the game, imo.
This may very well fall apart later on but so far...yeah...im liking it.
