Morning all. Back at work today after a week off. I managed to get a few afternoons in on Death Stranding. Just completed mission 44. Really not feeling the game at the moment. There was one mission fighting in WW1 trenches which was decent but the courier missions are getting more annoying. The most recent mission involved travelling a vast distance over steep and rocky terrains. Ladders, ropes etc wouldn't help much. There was one mission where I couldn't go any further in my truck - got stuck even with bunny hopping the vehicle - the terrain was really rocky, I was struggling to balance and I was under attack from human enemies. The whole experience wasn't enjoyable - I can't see the fun in struggling to balance, getting stuck on rocks, fighting off around a dozen enemy and all under a time limit and a baby crying - all at the same time. It's just not a fun game play loop. Mission after mission at the moment seems like a drag and not much fun. I will persevere but I need a break lol. And hope the game hits a different stride soon which is a bit more fun and engaging. I could do with some missions and story that hook me back in, something lacking for around the last 20 missions. And I checked the next two missions to get me to the end of the chapter - and it involves travelling a vast distance, collecting a body bag and returning to the same place. Sighs. Borderline binning the game off.

Still having a blast with Dead Island 2.
I may like DI1 a bit more only because of the setting but both games are really really good.
Reached level 21 (i think 30 is the max) and i still have a bunch of main missions to do.
All the missions have been great so far. some realyl tough moments but it never gets anywhere near being frustrating.
Eveyone should play this gem.

Did try and continue with my second character in Diablo IV, but the rubber banding the past few days on PS5 has been ridiculous. It's been literally a few steps forward, dragged a few steps back. I could put up with it if it was only now and again, but it's been pretty constant. The week of release it was grand, but it seems to be getting a lot worse, though maybe the preparations for the seasonal content aren't helping. I'll come back to it in a few months maybe, still think it's better than 3 but it's nowhere near challenging Diablo 2 as my favourite now

Sat down for just a brief session with Diablo IV last night but whatever their doing to the game has it basically unplayable at this point. Massive lag to the point that I just turned it off after 20 minutes.

Think, I'll give it a few days at least before trying again

Morning all. Played more Death Stranding over the weekend. On mission 56 so slowly getting closer to the end game. I was very close to binning the game off around mission 44 as it was two missions that meant I had to travel well outside of the mountain range and back again. To collect Mama. I did try two times and both times felt like a real slog and I got into problems that made it very frustrating. So I decided to fast travel close to Mama's place - leaving all of my gear behind - and that made it more manageable. And then since the game has been more enjoyable as most missions are now in the boundary of the mountains and I'm enjoying using zip lines and catapults and not having to travel massive distances albeit the terrain is challenging. The mountain range is actually fun if you don't have to travel too far. And most recently I've had another war mission and met Heartman so it's been more interesting. I still expect it will take me another 2-3 weekends to finish the game. It's gone from a 10/10 probably down to a 6/10 and now it's back up at 8/10 on the r-score-o-meter :-).

Finished Return to Monkey Island last night.
The ending was as good as MI1...lol.
But i really enjoyed it and had plenty of fun. I missed playing a graphic adventure like this.
Back in my Amiga/early PC days this was my favourite type of games. Such great memories.
Im also near the end of Dead Island 2. So far its my Goty.

I loved a lot about the game - the setting/world is fantastic, it feels so real, so organic, and is so pretty, the art design is at times astounding, and I would be happy if that's as good as graphics ever got. I've also recently played through TLoU pt2 too, and together they are technically two of the best games I have ever played. They may be ps4/xbox one-era titles, and some current titles may be a bit shinier etc. but these games from the end of the last gen are still massively impressive.
I liked all the mechanics too, all the horse maintenance, gun maintenance, changing clothes according to the climate, shaving, washing, etc. etc. I know a lot of it is optional, with minor detrimental effects if it's ignored but nothing major, but I loved it all and feel it only made for a richer experience.
The controls were fine - a little heavy but nothing too bad.
But I FAR prefer RDR!! I just never really like Morgan and much much prefer the story in the first RDR, and I have recently played RDR via backwards compat on the X1 and it still holds up really well. The original RDR is still far and away R*s best game imo. Safe to say my favourite parts of RDR2 were the epilogues playing as John.

High on life is a decent game but nothing amazing - 7/10 on the r-score-o-meter. The humour is marmite - as is all humour I guess - and reminds me of puerile humour (the creators are the guys that did Rick and Morty), and never lets up. It does have varied environments - like mini open maps connected by a hub world. And the combat is fun with the different 'daft comical' weapons and some not-bad boss fights. £50 though - no it's way too much IMO. I played it on games pass and enjoyed it but I think £20 max (or below) seems about right to bite. Defo worth a play though.

Hi guys.
I have High on Life on my backlog.
I played it a bit and felt like a cool game to play when im in the right mood.
It seemed like a light funny shooter.
Im reaching the final mission on Dead Island 2.
I´ll probably finish it tonight.

Played a tiny bit of Remnant 2 and seems a bit more polished than the first. Still feels a bit low budget, but the shooting seems solid. Decent enough start but It'll likely come down to how well/badly designed the boss fights are as to how long I stick with it.
And made a bit of progress with my PS4 Punch Club 2 plat attempt.

I also had a great time with Punch Club so happy to know a sequel exists.

So bright, colourful, smooth, also can't believe how quickly it loads up! I have had the ps5 for about 10 months and I'm still at the stage where I'm almost taken aback at how amazing some of these games look and play, especially the Sony studios games, they're just so well optimised it's ridiculous - and Miles Morales was cross-gen...Spiderman 2 is going to be a bit special.

Finally its friday!!
Finished Dead Island 2 last night.
What a blast of a game.
The final act had a more serious tone then the rest of the game and it concluded in a very cool way storywise. It also left the story in a perfect way for a sequel or a DLC.
I really have no complaints about the game tbh.
Is it a masterpiece? No. Is it a game made purely for gamers to have fun? Hell yeah.
I havent found any bugs whatsoever apart from having the inventory not clearing up the "new item" notification and having a custom icon on the map everytime i started a session.
Other then that, very solid game.
I rate it slightly below DI1 only because i think the tropical setting on the first game was perfect.
Overall i give it a 8,5 out of 10 Andromedas.
Final Fantasy XV next...

.....I'm glad I haven't gone back to Dead Island 2 if it's worse than Andromeda ;)

Jokes aside it is a great game mate.

What didnt you like from the first one mate?

Then, rather than get stuck into High on Life or Remnant 2, I picked up the early release version of F1 Manager 23. I'm sure it'll come as a great shock, but it's pretty much identical to 22 ;) Still, I did like 22, so can see plenty of hours being stuck into 23 as well
No gaming at all at the weekend for me. I did see Oppenheimer in Imax. I wasn't blown away. It was good but for me that's all it was - no masterpiece IMO. The sound though - it literally pounds your ears relentlessly. Honestly after 2 hours (it's a 3 hour film) I had a headache. I probably need to see it again - when it's released on a streaming service - as I might appreciate it more on a second viewing.
Hi everyone.
So, i´ve been playing Final Fantasy XV for the last 3 days and im not sure what to make of it.
I have to admit that im a bit bored at this point. The game has been very slow paced so far and im not getting the whole point of the roadtrip being the main focus of the game.
Maybe its about to pick up (im about to get a ferry to some island) but im not properly feel it.
Also, the combat is very confusing. Not in its mechanics but the way the camera handles and doesnt make it clear who am im attacking.
Im sticking with it for a couple more sessions but im still not feeling it i´ll bin it for now.

But will the story and the game pick up later on?

Glass - as far as Dead Island; To the best of my memory I really disliked the controls and the graphics. This was back in the 360 days so it may be better on new systems.
Anybody here played Nier: Replicant? I saw it's finally getting to my price point. Temped to haw even though I really don't need any new games.

So...i may have started Elden Ring last night.
Made my character (Confessor), did the tutorial cave and...got me arse handed on a plate by that dude with the horse that is patrolling right outside the initial area. It called Guardian of the Tree of something like that. I tried to fight him but he´s way to fast for my rusted soulsborne reflexes.
I explored the area around him for a bit and draw first blood with some bat like creatures on the area to the right.
I have enough runes to level up but i have no option to do so, so i assume i have to talk with someone first just like in Bloorborne.
I havent done much besides this but i did wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and during that time i was thinking of where to go next so itmay be clicking.
Any non-spoilary tips for a newborn Tarnished?

Learn to use your quick access menu - accessed by holding Y/triangle. Other Souls games don't have one.
Morning all
This game should be called Elden Nope.
Last night i started my session by exploring a bit more and found some Catacumbs on a cave. Went down there and almost died from some werewolf like creatures. Managed to kill them but found some corridors with fire coming and go and...noped it. I´l return later
Kept exploring and tried to go down to a beach until i found a huge troll which coused an instant nope. I´ll return later.
Returned to the initial path and followed the glowing trace until i found a garrison which i managed to stealth kill most of the soldier there...until i found a MF with a spear and a shield that completely destroyed my coolness.
Stayed there and did the garrison 4 or 5 times until i leveled up to lv 14 and managed to kill the MF.
I now have a huge opened gate right next to the site of grace.
It cant be good...
Reporting soulsbornering games is like therapy after the beating. lol

Oh, the columns of fire can be timed. They also have mechanisms in them. You are very early so a couple cheap throwing knives might be the ticket.

Thanks mate.
I had a good session last night.
Did 3 more runs at the garrison and almost completely missed a stair going down that led me to a chest with a new item called Ashes of something.
After that, i went to explore a bit more and found a cave that let me to my first boss, or bosses i should say. They were two but i summoned a cooperator and managed to kill them both.
When i finally found my way out of the cave i realized i was in that island south of the map. In there i found a shrine called Dragon Incantation (if i recall) but i honestly havent figured out what´s it for. I also lack the materials to use it so i´ll return later.
In the end i reached level 14 and upgraded my broadsword to +2.
My next objective is to explore the south east part of Limgrave and see what i can find.
Overall im still completely lost in the game and im doing runs with no specific objective. I read somewhere that the castle i need to go is very hard so im trying to explore and level up as much as i can.
If someone ask me what i feel about the game i truly couldnt explain but the fact is that, for the second night in a row, i have to force myself to stop playing way beyond my sleep hour and its now 9am and im talkign about the game as if i dont have work waiting for me...

I know where you´re coming from Deck.
I freedom to explore things on our own pace can make it more relaxing due the oportunity to just turn your back and find another easier area if we want.
On the other hand i do feel like my character is less important to the world then in previous games which, personally, stresses me out a bit more as it makes me feel smaller while everyone looks at me like an ant. lol.
I have a bit of experience with From Soft games so i know that we are meant to feel lost and hopeless in the beginning while we get involved in the world until the whole thing clicks and we get an amazing experience.
Currently im at the phase of getting bruised and licking my wounds. But the atmosphere of the game is amazing for sure

I'm really not sure how I feel about it, but I clocked over 200hrs before I saw the credits roll with Elden Ring.
