Donna (donnaburks61) | 1287 comments Ok, I put my book on my phone and am waiting to see the doctor. I am sure it will be something simple because I don't have time for something complicated! 🤣

Ugh, I hate feeling poorly! Thanks for the support and kind words!

Will continue reading and will keep you updated... *sigh*

I am home and it would appear that I will be going back on Monday... grrr

I was dehydrated (hooked up an IV bag of fluids) and my blood sugar was "uncomfortably low"... *headdesk*

They, like Lisa, think that this is just an extension of my second shot, but want to make sure by running more tests on Monday. Meanwhile, I finished my book and feel somewhat better, just still a tad bit unsteady... grrr

Let me just say, if the second half of this book had followed the same path as the first half... I might well have DNF this one. *headdesk*

But, glad to report that things progressed VERY nicely and the book was saved! Harry and Julius are two very different characters that complimented each other so well that even I was surprised by how things turned out, and I KNEW that there was going to be a HEA! *grin*

As always, we have a full cast of intriguing, and entertaining characters and I hope to be jumping straight into A Seditious Affair because I just have to find out how in the world those two are going to get the life together that they deserve!

Loved this. Loved the work that the author is building. I like familiars and this was a family of them, all big cat shifters. I was waiting though for Cicerco to come along.
Best bit was when Alistair first changed into a cheetah and Sam asked if he could pet him.
Great. Can't wait until book 2.

I thought this book was really slow to start. I felt like I had been reading for hours and when I looked I had only read 24 pages.
However, it did start to pick up around the halfway point.
I am not sure I will be rushing to read book 2.

Review:
This is a type of comfort read for me when I am looking for snark mixed with a fairytale/HEA. I love the crazy Orwell family characters and their disregard for any type of authority (perhaps because I am incapable of that?). And the plot is adventurous and fun as well. This was a reread, and I still pick up new threads/connections missed (perhaps forgotten) earlier :)

Donna (donnaburks61) | 1287 comments Well, since I am sitting here having my first meal after I have done my chores and took a nap... I thought I would bother everyone here on the team with some trivial facts of my life today! *snort* LOL!!!

HB is taking me to buy a tiller this evening (if he gets off on time) and my sister is thrilled that I am getting a NEW power tool and I am pretty excited if I say so myself!

My seedlings are sprouting nicely in my new greenhouse and I still have a few more to plant (when I get in the mood) and now that I am feeling more energy today (carbs rock!) I hope to lay out how I want to plant my new vegetable garden! Who knew it was so complicated... put this here... don't put that near this... put this in the sun... don't put this in the full sun... *headdesk* LOL!!!

This city girl is learning a lot more about the country while living in a small town! *grin*

BTW: How is it possible that I still own too many clothes? I have purged my clothes 5 times and I still have things that I don't wear... maybe I should just chuck everything but the jammies? hehehehe

OK, I have finished my pizza (don't judge, HB brought it to me last night!) and I am heading back in to tackle some more purging and organizing in my kitchen cabinets!

And, MK is still asleep... *sigh* LOL!!!

Hope you are feeling better.
In the past several years Ive taken loads of clothes to war on want ( is it still called that) ans I still have clothes that still have the price tags on.

Ive been working from home since last March and I have gotten into a bad habit of staying in my nightdress rather than get dressed.

Also I have started looking for more clothes... can you believe that

Think its around 8.30 on the west coast so probably about another 2 hours until the next task.

Task 14 - 53. Each teammate reads a book set in one of your teammates' home town (born in, raised in, currently live in - all work), teams decide. No pass for this task.

As a team, select a teammate and everyone reads a book set in that teammate's home town. Please include the selected teammate and their home town in your completion posts. If they live in a big city that is easy enough, but you are free to use the state if their home town is within the US and the country if outside the US. Remember to let me know how you know your book qualifies, be it the title, precis, book details, tags or lists. I need to know where to look to confirm your books!

A story of a 2o something who isn't handling life or the death of his parents and spirals into alcoholism. He is awful to his best friend and eventually goes into a detox programme.
I liked the way all characters were supportive of Monroe and the fact that the author didn't go into great details of the downside of de-toxing.

Narrated by Antony Ferguson. Would have like a slight differentiation in tone/accent between the two MC as the book switched between POVs. I did get a bit lost at times as to which one was 'thinking'.

Even though this was Merrick and Leo's story, Clyde and Donny stole the show! *sigh*

Sometimes it is good to be reminded that even though things are not perfect now, they are a hell of a lot better than they were 50 years ago. There is still a lot of work to be done on many fronts and as an older white, heterosexual woman I believe that falls to my generation to say that enough is enough and equality is just that... being equal! Our perception of other people's freedom is just that, a perception. Until we have walked a mile in their shoes we can NEVER understand their fears and their need to be seen as equal in every walk of life. But, we can try!

This was a very humorous story that secretly touched your heart when you least expected it to! As a demisexual, I truly understand where Merrick was coming from with a need for boundaries and taking things slow. I will admit that I could see Leo's point too, because when your partner is "the one" it is really hard to take it slow... *grin*

Really enjoyed this one even though Liam's fears and actions were so ott at times, I wanted to strangle him. Cody was the newbie lifeguard crushing on the older, hot, ex-athlete senior lifeguard Liam who was so far in the freaking closet I'm surprised any light reached him at all. After meeting his father, we get it, but still. Holy crap! Their sexy time were quite unexpected in the best way possible and their lifeguarding was fun as hell to read about. Overall a good read if at time frustrating.
