Watcha' Doing - 2021
I have the same when I use the app Barelyspicy, it gave me a scare! But when I check on the website, it's still there.
Sarah wrote: "I just finisshed Tara Brach's other book Radical Compassion: Learning to Love Yourself and Your World with the Practice of RAIN ."I will check that one out for sure! In fact I think I will go buy it right now. I think her advice for being happy is top notch and I also like her voice.
Oh hell ya! It's on 2 for 1 sale right now on Audible!
So I guess the 2 for 1 sale was a magical occurrence just for me to get the book Sarah mentioned...I looked up the book and it said it was on 2 for 1 spring something sale so I added it to my cart and clicked on "sale home" and noticed that there was a book from my wish list so I added that one as well and bought the books. Then I tried to see what else was in the sale and I can't find the sale anywhere! I even went to audible.com on my laptop since apps can be finicky - I googled audible spring sale - I tried opening the details of the books I just bought from the sale and I can't fine the sale anywhere!
Here you go, Katrisa - https://www.audible.com/special-promo...Thanks for letting me know the sale was starting. I looked earlier, but didn't see anything.
Well I found the sale again by looking up the other book from my wish list that was in the sale :) Why are they making it so hard to find?
Kristie wrote: "They will send out an email and it will be easy to find tomorrow. It is just prepping to start."So we're just early! :)
I just popped in to say you do not need to send a St-Bernard, (ok.. you can send one, They are cute and carry brandy...) This is the time of Sock Madness, the yearly sock knitting competition I participate in. The qualifying round started last Saturday and I probably will not be done until next weekend. I will find a minute here and there to peek in my current buddy reads but that will be it.

Good luck, Esther!! Have fun in your competition. Post the results in the what you've recently made thread when you get a chance. We'd love to see what you create.
He is born! Her last message was 5.45am and it seemed that it would last at least several more hours. But he was born 20 minutes ago! I'm so happy for her (obviously) but especially because with the first one it took almost 3 days from the first contractions until he was born. Sooo slow. Much faster arrival now :D
His name is Kobe (not sure if they're going for the English pronunciation or make it more Dutch). Not necessarily named after Kobe Bryant, but his dad is a basketball fan (their first son Jordan is named after Michael Jordan) so that fits nicely. Funny thing is that he (nephew Kobe) was born at 8.24, which apparently are the player numbers (8 and 24) of the basketball player. What are the chances of that?Alright, enough baby spam, back to work!
Congratulations, Peggy! I'm glad your sister and Kobe are both well. Special congrats to Jordan, who is now a big brother. Such a life-changing day for him!
Congratulations, Peggy! That's wonderful news. Post all the baby info you want. It's nice to see happy posts. :)
I just learned that there was major flooding in Oahu yesterday. My sister's brother-in-law posted a notice on Facebook last night that friends and family were being evacuated from the town my sister lives in. I googled but couldn't see any pictures of the area she's in, and I'll need to wait a few more hours to contact her because of the time difference.
Margo wrote: "Yikes! I hope her home wasn't flooded Janice."Me too. I'll be contacting her in a few hours to see how they made out. I'm hoping that in this case, no news is good news.
I just received a text from my sister. She was at work yesterday and couldn't get home. Her husband was at home and they are all fine with no damages. The flood was down the street from them. I'm grateful that they had no damages, but I feel bad for others that weren't so fortunate. The pictures online look devastating.
She was telling me that her husband went down the street to check out the flooding, and then the police wouldn't let him return to the house. It's easy for me to laugh, but she wasn't impressed with him. I didn't get more of the story because she was at work.
Glad your sister's place is okay, Janice. I had to laugh at your BIL though, so relatable. Sightseeing and/or recon on whats going on and then can't get back up the hill... feels like they are in Aus.
I was planning to start rereading Gabriel García Márquez in the second half of the year, after finishing with The Cemetery of Forgotten Books series' buddy read, so a couple of days ago I was googling which was the best order for reading his books set in Macondo, since they are all interconnected (I do not remember how I read them the first time, 25 years ago) and I accidentally happened to find a course by the Colombian Universidad de los Andes in Coursera called "Reading Macondo". It is a 6 weeks course and covers five books:Leaf Storm
No One Writes to the Colonel
Big Mama’s Funeral
In Evil Hour
One Hundred Years of Solitude
The problem is it was starting right now (last Wednesday) and I couldn't find out if it was going to be repeated later in the year or not, so I just registered myself and God, help me. I was buried in books and buddy reads as it was, but I started yesterday Leaf Storm and I'm happy to be back in Macondo.
So, I tried to find an English version of the course to recommend to you here (I'm doing it in Spanish) but couldn't find any. It seems it used to be offered in FutureLearn (the very same course but in English), but not anymore. So I'm linking it here in case someone is interested in doing it in Spanish, or if anyone is smarter than me (not that hard) and can find it in English somewhere else, since I badly failed doing so:

Sandra - I did not realize that these books were all related. The only one from the list that I have read is the last one. I wish you all the best on your course! I am still trying to get to Chronicle of a Death Foretold. I had planned to read it in Feb, but did not fit it in.
Enjoy your course, Sandra! There was a course on Historical Fiction that I was interested in taking a few years back and it was through Coursera.

Sandra wrote: "I was planning to start rereading Gabriel García Márquez in the second half of the year, after finishing with The Cemetery of Forgotten Books series' buddy read, so a couple of days ..."I also had no idea the books were related! 100 years of solitude is among my favorite books of all time - I can't believe his other books were related

I'm sorry to hear that, this year seems to be a year of change for everyone, I'm glad that you like audible! I wasn't into audiobooks but now I'm always on audible, its very relaxing and helps me be less anxious, I hope this is a year of good change for the better for you.
I'm looking at the curfew and COVID issue in a positive way, since as an introvert I got to do a lot of reading and playing games. not having to deal with people.
