Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19202 comments Fantastic to hear from you, Travis! That is a massive year, but I agree with the others, it just shows how much you want to make this work with the kids even though I know that would have been a really hard decision for you to make. I love that you've had some great experiences with them with your extra time. Hope you're enjoying the new job as well.
That sounds very fun with all these puppers.

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I had this thought that I should take a book to work because it had been that we were flying through our houses and then sitting waiting for the supervisor to inspect us so we can move to the next one. Well. Scratch that. They gave us a bunch of distressed houses. I wasn't sure what that implies. Well it basically means the tenant basically destroyed the house and we're 2 to 3 days fixing just the one unit instead of knocking out 1-1/2 houses a day and having that supervisor wait time.

We go in after a tenant moves out and flip the house basically I don't do service type work so I don't have to deal with the actual tenants.

Sounds perfect! No tenants sounds great.

I always make sure I have a book in my car or in my bag for this reason. You never know what your day will be like, or when the car will break down.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19202 comments ARGH! I have 10 chapters left of my book left for the yearly challenge. It is 3am. There are 21 hours left of the year. I have a party at 7pm tomorrow (ignoring the ridiculous covid explosion here, I can't even on that at the moment. But one last party is not terrible).

The plan wasn't to be in this position, and I am not sure if I'm going to make it.

I was supposed to spend the day listening, but we ran into our friend's mum who we know rather well at our friends place yesterday who is a draftsman, and she decided to come over today to work out what we want to do to extend/renovate the house, so she could think about it over her holiday. I do love consults that end with wine and cheese in the garden in late afternoon.

Kristie | 19123 comments Oh no, Rus. That's such a torn position to be in. You want to do both things at the same time. Hope you are able to finish it before the party.

I have to admit that I panicked for a second when I saw your post saying there are only 21 hours left in the year because I still have a book and a half to go. (Half for the yearly challenge, plus one for the monthly.) I quickly checked my watch, then remembered that you are a day ahead of me. Phew! I guess I should be happy that we have no new year's plans this year!

I am plugging away here with my personal finish-the-challenges toppler. :) I am a bit bored with the book I am currently reading for the yearly, but it is too late to change it now!

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19202 comments Challenge done. 2021 done.

Happy New Year everyone from this side of the globe!

Hope you have a lovely night whether either being able to see people you love, or chilling on the couch with a book.

Here's to 2022 and good riddance to 2021!

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19202 comments P.S. It's 4am and there is a possum growling outside my bedroom window (if you have ever watched either version of The Grudge, possums make the same noise as the children coming to kill you). It is far too hot to close the window. And I know he's just protecting his territory and/or attracting the ladies, but man... what an omen.

A well-choreographed Happy New Year dance for R, which was supposed to be a surprise!🤣

message 1869: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19202 comments Hah! I can report that we turned on a torch out the window, caught two possums sniffling their snuffley noses towards the window, but then turned their backs and crashed away over 15 mins or so. I think we foiled their plans, but who knows what will happen tonight!

message 1870: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19123 comments And here they thought they were being so quiet sneaking up on your window, Rus! I'm sure they were quite surprised to suddenly have a spotlight on them. lol
