I just received Thor God of Thunder OHC 2. Completes my collection through Secret Wars. Including Original Sin.
Dustin wrote: "Just received fear agent 1&2 looks good excited to give it a go."Having enjoyed Deadly Class Deluxe and Tokyo Ghost thoroughly, I was checking Fear Agent out as well.
just received:Alex + Ada complete collection
Outcast Deluxe
War of Kings Omnibus on its way.
I've also noticed a hike in prices for new Omnibuses out next year on Amazon. About a 10% rise! :(
I blame Trump.
I got three books today:Claremont's Uncanny X-men Vol 1. Omnibus
War of Kings Omnibus
and The Fade Out HC.
All really beautiful books, although I noticed something upon beginning The Fade Out: it's not actually over-sized. The book itself, yes is in the standard Over-sized HC format, but the images, the pages of the comic themselves are not larger than what you would get had you purchased the individual issues; the pages are simply centered to the middle of the page, making the imagery look almost small.
I took the liberty of measuring a panel from page one in both the single issue and in the HC, and they were indeed both the exact same size. So I checked the Fatale HC and same thing, no actual over-sizing of the artwork at all.
This knowledge, mixed with the fact that the single issues have exclusive content that is not in this HC at all, make me wonder what they were thinking.
In my eyes, they could've easily released a true OHC that contained all the content that was in the singular issues.
Edit: I guess its considered a "Deluxe Hard Cover" on the solicitations. Maybe it's just an error on my part, assuming HC's are automatically Over-Sized. Although, all of my Hickman HC's (East of West, Manhattan Projects) are undoubtedly Over-Sized in both image and format. idk.
I can't complain too much though because, well, I love this comic. Happy to support Brubaker/Phillips/Breitweiser, just curious that they didn't make use of the Over-Sized format.
The Uncanny X-men omni is the one I'm most excited to read, because I've never read the fabled Chris Claremont run!
The War of Kings omni is my new Marvel fatty, dwarfing the Infinity Gauntlet omnibus; it's about the same size as the Gotham Central omni.
That's something I noticed as well but didn't take the time to research it like you did. Guess I was so enamored by the story I forgot all about it. Disappointing for sure, and hopefully the only time it happens
That's a bummer about Fade Out. Although I'll still probably get it. I'm reading Criminal Deluxe right now and it looks like what you're talking about, big book, "small" images.
Interesting, so it seems Brubaker/Phillips never really get the true OHC treatment of their books; I wonder whose decision that is. Seems a shame not to utilize the format, especially with this team.Might look further into this.
anyone else noticed a hike in prices? The Black Science OHC premier is expensive, but i see it's nearly 500 pages! Is that for two volumes only or 3?

Black Science OHC collects the first 3 TPBs (comics #1-16).
After that there are two TPBs out (one due in december), so it will need at least 1 more TPB for another OHC to have enough content for release.
Looks like next week will be fairly busy for releases.

Hmm. I feel like IST has the listing but your order would sit until the street date, the legal point at which they're allowed to sell the book. But who knows, Walmart frequently ignores this.
That'd be my guess on Not Yet Released titles. But they took two weeks on an order of mine that wasn't NYR.
I don't know what if anything anyone else ordered today. I picked up the large TPB Conan omnibus containing the content from the Colossal Conan as gifts for a couple friends. I also ordered the Posen Deadpool omnibus (blind buy), the Star Wars Kanan omnibus (also a blind buy), and The Theory of the Grain of Sand, which looks interesting.
Got my package from the CGN black Friday sale containing:Flash Omnibus by Manapul & Buccellato
The Incal HC
Metabarons HC
Nailbiter Deluxe
Thor OHC
I'm eager to get into The Incal after reading a lot of hype about Moebius' art.
Nailbiter is excellent! If anyone is clued up on the Archie comics thread please can they respond to my question. :)
it's been a while since I posted here and I have added a lot of things, mostly euro comics in french but I made a few finds during black friday week on CGN and got the following heavily discounted :- Locke and Key master edition vol 3

Nice pick ups. I just recently finished Locke and Key. Very well written.
I am really curious about The Theory of the Grain of Sand. I think it was originally a French comic. The art looks really neat.

Frank I hope everything went OK and any issues are over with. I see it didn't phase you at all in your purchases. :)
That is quite the haul Frank. Love that you have Birthright as a part of it. :) That is one of my favorite things coming out right now. I think the fourth TPB is coming out in a couple weeks.
Thanks everyone, feeling better.I had to catch up somewhat being out of commission since early October, lots of good stuff coming out., sometimes I don't know which way to turn as I don't know many of the series.
@Rel - I have seen that you have mentioned Birthright several times, so I'll give it a try.
What is everyone's opinion on the Deappool Omni by Posehn? If the jokes are anything like the movie (which I thought totally sucked) then it is a N/G for me?? Also, is it worth it to pickup The Wonder Woman Golden Age?
Thanks.
Did a fair bit of ordering today. Guardians of the Galaxy Omnibus BMB
Absolute Infinite Crisis
Hickman's New Avengers OHC Vol1
I've been debating whether or not to buy the Guardians Omni by Bendis. I've read some negative opinions of his work in the series, but I also really enjoy the marvel cosmic line so I'm undecided. Anyone read his GotG?

-Conan Omnibus TPB vol 1

Any recommendations for history/ documentary novels. I know persepolis sp? March seem to be well rated just curious what is out there.
If you haven't read it, Maus is an excellent WWII comic. Should be required reading for all comic fans.
Dustin wrote: "Any recommendations for history/ documentary novels. I know persepolis sp? March seem to be well rated just curious what is out there."Yeah Maus is fantastic. I've also read Andre the giant which was good: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
Here is a list for you...

I'd recommend From Hell. Not sure if that counts as history per se, but it is excellent nonetheless.
Thanks for the list I would prefer history ww1 and earlier I suppose this genre is very niche. Trinity sounds interesting. I have not skimmed maus but it is obviously always in every list. I did flip through from hell and I am undecided. Had little interaction with moores work but it all seems very cerebral and makes me feel like I will miss stuff.

Nice! I think I'm due for a reread of those soon. Need me some Whedon dialogue...
