If you look closely you can see the shelves are bowing in the centre ha. I'll take another photos in a years time. I think I'll need to buy a second book case.
I think mine are bowing as well. My next shelves may not be as wide to help with that. I could easily double my shelves and fill them up but there's no room to put more shelves. At least you got rid of some of your books and made more room.
I'm just about ready for a dedicated bookshelf. Plan on getting the sturdy narrow-shelved Kallax from IKEA.

You might want to check those dimensions to be sure books like Absolutes or Deadly Class will fit. Seems like they would though...
That's kind of my predicament. If I want two shelves of Absolutes for example, that brings the height of the whole bookcase up.

I moved my books to a white kallax and have been pleasantly surprised that what I thought would be temporary may end up being permanent. (1) The really smooth surfaces are ideal to protect the hardcover edges on the bottom and the smooth sides avoid little dust jacket scratches, (2) its sturdy as hell - cant imagine a sag even being possible, (3) in white it really makes the spines pop as opposed to the dark wood I have always used for anything I collect. (photo of my marvel books on a kallax below)https://www.goodreads.com/photo/group...
Does anyone have any of the IDW Artist Editions? My favorite team is the FF and considering the Kirby one that was released on IST today, but the lack of discount has me holding back - any opinions on these collections?
Yeah I Googled "comic book bookcase" and the Kallax is pretty much what everyone uses. I have no doubt the Absolutes will fit. If not, back to the store it goes!

I still haven't bought one, but from everything I've read they are very nice. I just can't justify the price though and it certainly wouldn't fit anywhere on any shelves I had.
I'd love to have the Romita Spider-Man's and the Mazzuchelli Daredevil.

Do you know the exact height of the interior of each shelf? What's the tallest book that could fit? The whole thing is 30" tall so I would guess it is around 13-14" for each shelf.
And did you get "white" or "high gloss white"?

I can confirm that Absolutes fit in the kallax. They are pretty much perfectly sized to fit, any bigger and they would be too tall. I'll try to remember to take a picture to post tonight to show the fit.

When I have a few moments, I've been meaning to take a pic of various size books to give people an idea of the differences.

I grabbed a few books from different publishers and put them all in one picture so you can see the height differences.

My pleasure! I'm really hoping they do a second volume of Parker.
I'm not positive, but I think the IDW Artist's Editions are the same size.

I wanted the martini but couldn't find anything about the second volume and I found both first hardcovers locally. Really good book the art is so expressive barely needs text

Thanks Reece! It sure doesn't look like it will handle the Oni Press size. Dang, I was looking forward to getting those.

I debated as well and right now I'm not that confident they will do another. I'm sure they will right after I purchase the regular hardcovers. :(
I bought mine off Amazon and it was a little damaged but I was able to get some money back, making the purchase a little more palatable.

There's only one Oni Press series I'm interested in, so I can't let that steer me away from the perfect bookshelf. Chances are you'll eventually need more than one bookshelf, so just make sure the other has a taller "Oni" shelf if that's a problem.
Agreed. I have a handful of books that are too large and maybe having a completely different shelf is the answer.
Just ordered Fear Agent Library Edition V1, Manhattan Projects Deluxe Book 2, and Saga Deluxe Book 1. So psyched! Ready for that bookshelf now.
Thanks. I wanted to get FA while it was still available and Saga before it potentially went out of print with V2 coming out in April. I also realized they're all sci-fi. I'm clearly out of touch with reality : )

“Fantasy is escapist, and that is its glory. If a soldier is imprisoned by the enemy, don't we consider it his duty to escape?. . .If we value the freedom of mind and soul, if we're partisans of liberty, then it's our plain duty to escape, and to take as many people with us as we can!” ― J.R.R. Tolkien
A little escape is a good thing. :)

Great quote. Yes it's very healthy. The best thing about books is that while you're escaping you can at times be learning as well. Not like computer games.
I've always said I learned many of my values and traits from comics (especially Spiderman) but nowadays the heroes don't really act like heroes anymore.
Secret Warriors arrived. It's beautiful and it makes we want Hickman FF v1 so bad. Damn you, Marvel!! Reprint!!!Regarding character values, John Byrne's FF v1 is turning out to be my favorite omnibus. The family dynamic is better than Lee/Kirby FF run (less sexism and over-dramatic self-loathing Thing) and the stories and villains are wonderful and allow the heroes to be smart and heroic. Can't recommend this enough!

I would agree about Byrne's FF. I remember when I read that the first time how much I really enjoyed it. To me the hallmark of the Lee/Kirby run is the sheer imagination of it, making both the characters and plots more than one-dimensional and generally breaking new ground for comics.

Agree. You can't blame them for having the sillier issues with the puppet master and even a very non-menacing (in modern terms) Dr Doom considering all the wonderful creations from the team itself to the cosmic world (Galactus being the obvious standout). Byrne just has such a gift for using characters to their max potential and weaving shorter arcs over longer arcs (like Claremont does too). It makes them a real joy to read in the large thick format.
Big addition for me. Had ordered uncanny xmen omni 1&2 on an eBay auction only v 2 came due to some eBay global ship cock up; got a full refund and v2 free. So I ordered v1,3 and miller dardevil omni, manhattan projects 1&2 deluxe and sixth gun v1 (physically huge)

Oh wow. Such a great pic and a reference source, thanks for that.
My biggest book is the Colosal Conan. While it is by far the thickest omni I've ever seen, it's not tall enough to cause problems.
Nice! Do you collect the infinity figures? I've been looking for a regular Spiderman since they are all being discounted.
Yes, i collect them :D and i have a regualar spidey in box with nova, the two come together but i don't want to sell it.

It is too much to buy everything. I do really want to read the Wonder Woman run as I have heard good things. That and the WOK aftermath omnibus volume may be my first buys. Alpha Flight is on my list too. I also still want to pick up the Wolverine origin OHC from last week, Tomb Raider Archives vol 1, Unwritten, Batman Death and the Maidens DLX, and the second Bendis Uncanny X-Men OHC. Soooo, I'm behind already. :)
