If weight is an issue, I'll sell you my singles! I'm only missing one issue. :P
I remember liking V2 better than V1 and by the time V3 came out, I had lost all memory of the details of the story and the closing didn't make sense to me.

I'd take you up on singles but I only read trades and hardcovers. Just don't have the storage space for floppies. It's fine. I don't mind collecting the hardcovers : ) I've read the first two volumes and liked it plenty. Definitely weird though.
I understand. I should probably reread it because I certainly have a different perspective on things now.

I believe the Deluxe HCs are the same size as the omnibus. I would prefer to read those since the art is the same size and it's a lot easier read. :)

Yeah you're right, I checked on Amazon. No sense in weighing myself down for the same size artwork right? I'll go with four deluxes over one gargantuan omnibus. Thanks, guys.
I just finished ALPHA FLIGHT and have to say I was very impressed with the quality of the omnibus. First of all, nice spine and cover, good sewn binding as usual, and super thick and very self contained. I know some people malign double dipping when stories covered elsewhere are contained but a couple UXM chapters are critical here and so are included and it makes for a really linear read without having to need any other sources. Finally the modern 2 part story at the end is a really nice bookend. As for the writing, Byrne hits his stride after a central character is taken out and the other characters get developed quite well and instead of UXM or FF cosmic stories there are more fantasy stories thanks to Shaman and Snowbird. All in all, better qualities stories than I honestly expected (but not on the level of his other work naturally).Super happy with this book and this purchase and happy to have a small X-Men corner all covered in 1 book and at the same time have a real appreciation for Alpha Flight, found it interesting to see how they interacted outside of X-men narratives, and enjoyed the other dimension to byrne storytelling that they allowed.

It has less pages on a wider spine though, which makes the spine arch a little less awkwardly when spread open.

That's good to hear! I've been a long time X-Men fan and obviously read the crossover issues but never fully read their own stories. Plus, finding some quality work from John Byrne that is new to me after reading comics for 30+ years is always a plus.

Its takes place somewhere in the UXM issues 120-175, starts with their UXM issue introduction and ends with a story with Loki and Madelynne Prior around what I think would be 175ish(?), plus there is quite a bit of Hulk Crossover and takes place around Hulk 300.

I'm having my DC/Vertigo shelves shipped to me this spring, but I'll find something from Marvel/Dark Horse to photo the Conan against. I think the Roger Stern Spidey Omnibus is the same height and nearly the same width as the Invisibles.

Donovan wrote: "That Conan IS colossal!"I remember one reviewer calling it "...of wizard-slaying proportions". But the size doesn't come across as unneccesary at all, Busiek spins some long yarns over the 50 issues included, and the art is just that good to warrant the size. It has to be my fave book in my collection.
Bought a copy of Spider-Man the Other. I hope it's a halfway decent read. I'm really tired of Dan Slott's run and needed something a little more "classic". Still looking for a Back in Black HC at a decent price.
Guys I went a bit mental in my latest haul.I'll send you a photo update once my collection is complete. It's a worthy haul of even Franks.
I'm gonna be mega poor.

A few exciting additions this week:On the Valiant front: Archer & Armstrong Deluxe 2, Harbinger Deluxe 1 & 2, Ivan Timewalker Deluxe 1, X-O Manowar Deluxe 2, Armor Hunters Deluxe
On the Marvel front: Daredevil Omni (Lee/Wood), X-Statix Omni

Nice collection mate! I see you have 'The Valiant', I was umming and arring about getting that.
Thanks! The Valiant is dynamite I think, it helps explain the role of Gilad and the Geomancers, introduces Kay who affects Bloodshoot's life and currently has been back in his single issues. Also the art is gorgeous. It's not long, just the 4 issue event but (I think) it was central to the Valiant relaunch and if you find a good price is worth picking up.

Donovan wrote: "Nice collection! That's a lotta Valiant!"Thanks! Yeah I'm really enjoying it, I'm glad I made the decision to piece that together instead of go big for either the Simonson Thor or the Hickman FF which is what I was debating. The stories are great and besides a slight knock for glued binding they are really beautiful books.
Glued binding can be good if it's done right. Honestly, more little buys over fewer large have treated me better. Spent the most on the Doctor Strange Omnibus and it wasn't that enjoyable. But Image HCs are so cheap and awesome.
I agree about Dr. Strange. I have always enjoyed the character and so spent a few extra dollars for the vintage cover. I dont regret the purchase but if measuring by page count and re-readability it definitely wasnt cheap.
When I started collecting hardcovers I was addicted to the Marvel Omnibus line, but over time I've moved more toward Image, Dark Horse, and smaller publishers due to quality in their products. I still love Marvel but I'm more discerning now.
I just ordered Oz Omnibus and Fantastic Four Omnibus by Matt Fraction on ebay for a combined total of $65. Couldn't bring myself to pay half off MSRP for either of these, but at less than 1/3rd I'll bite. Also ordered Book of Death on B&N thanks to the tip from Nickviola.
Nice. The Fraction stuff was decent but not on the same level as Hickman (but who is?).
For my Friday order I ordered Inhuman OHC and Uncanny X-Men OHC vol 2 by Bendis. I've been putting both of those off for a while. I also grabbed a couple TPB volumes, Britannia by Valiant, Eclipse, and Aumtnlands from Image.

I finally got around to organizing my collection to my satisfaction. Here are the results...https://imgur.com/a/fRZS5
Thanks guys. I'm lucky to have an understanding wife, as she's allowed me to devote that room as my nerd room. I was stating to type a description of the rest of the room, but then i decided that it would be easier to just take more pictures. I'm an amateur artist, so this room is partially a reading room and partially a studio. The wall art in these pictures were done by me.
