Just happened to be some news about Batman: white knight. Appears they want a whole imprint with more spin-offs. Sean has through a v4 of the main series already plotted.

As long as the art and story stay at the same level of quality I'm certainly interested in reading more in this different DC universe. :)

I had never heard of it and just did a quick internet search. Quite a bit of praise for it. Are the TPBs European sized (like the new DC Black Label books?)
Ordered Uncanny X-Force Omnibus. Luckily, it was exactly $50 so no shipping.

Amazon has the size as 9.2 x 11.6 inches. One thing I like is that the front and back covers fold out, and there are maps of the places where that particular story took place, plus some biographical information on Hugo Pratt. Just really nice quality from IDW on these volumes.
I love adventure style comics, so these resonate with me. Pratt has a mystical side as well, and incorporates dream-like sequences into the stories. I recommend them if you like European comics and don't mind the B/W format.

Was sure I would lick up Power Pack and X-Men Box set. Ended up passing on both.
I barely have room for anything that isn’t a must have for me. Power Pack I probably won’t reread and most of the x-men box set is already in the Uncanny X-Men Omnis 1 & 2.
Here’s to being fiscally responsible.
Did grab the Render X-Force Omni for $48 . . . Hope those of you who wanted to sell the first printing got it done.

IST is sold out of the Remender X-Force omnibus in about two hours. No word on if they will get more in stock or not.
I read the first Harrow County Library edition and thought it was horrifying - in a good way. It was nominated for an Eisner award so that is usually a sign of quality. They are putting out TPB omnibus editions already which is usually a sign the library editions must have sold well.

There’s an X-Men Children of the Atom slipcase unboxing video up from Near Mint Condition: https://youtu.be/xuETtdg-v5w
I said on here some time ago that while I had no real interest in the box set based on already having all content and my negative experience with the previous Avengers slipcase released last year, I was still pretty interested to see what was featured on the bonus poster. Luckily the video shows it: it’s the Alex Ross recreation of The X-Men #1 cover. Love Ross’s work, but I prefer Kirby’s original artwork tenfold. As well, this poster appears to be paper and not fabric, which just further diminishes my overall opinion on how Marvel is handling these slipcases now.

As for these boxsets, I know some people have some so its great if you love them, for me it would be so cool if they treated these were really sturdy and more thoughtful looking like the Akira boxset, or were numbered and signed, or something. Just seems like low effort.
I have most of the Marvel Box sets (don’t have the first one and now this X-men one). I’ll have to look, but I believe some are numbered. The quality is good IMO but I’m also only paying $230-$280 a box through IST. I wouldn’t pay the retail of $500 on these.
Nickviola wrote: "Has anyone ever seen a same day sellout of an omnibus on IST though? I mean, sometimes a DM variant cover sells out but a single cover omni to sell out in hours seems weird."
I've seen DM covers sell out the first day but that is also rare. It may be IST didn't put in a large order and maybe they will get more copies of the Remender X-Force omnibus. There are other retailers with copies still so finding one right now isn't difficult but Marvel may have done a pretty short print run.
Remender's X-Force is my favorite Marvel work he did and it's one of my favorite portrayals of Deadpool, a character I don't love as much in the comics. This run is pretty popular so there may have been a lot of people poised to pounce on the reprint.

Oh wow. The IDW version just hit IST today, so that my be a different edition than the current series. But at least you can read it and see if you enjoy the story. I haven't read this one yet.
Rumor on the street is that IST will get more copies of the Bendis Daredevil omnibus volumes next month.

Also, I just cracked open Metabarons and it’s gorgeous and even though it’s still hard sci-fi it’s a much cleaner chapter arc so far compared to the incal. Excited to read the rest!

I'm assuming you are talking about his Daredevil? That might be my favorite thing he's done. Brubaker picks up the story beautifully when he takes over. Between the two of them I think their Daredevil run is one of the best in modern Marvel comics.

I remember liking the story and it was neat how the different stories ended up coming around and being combined in a larger story. I didn't like nearly as much as Morrison's Batman run which is probably my favorite thing I've read by him (second is probably his X-Men run).

I agree on low effort, though I am happy that this set exists and gives people a good alternative to read a physical copies of silver age X-Men. Typically the books in these sets are good quality, even if not OHCs.

Relstuart, I take it you are still enjoying Berserker? I liked V1 (much more than I was expecting) but I'm a little reticent to get further in a story that will be multiple volumes. Funnily enough, that's one of the things Didio was complaining about. I'm thinking more of space than cost, but if the story is worth it...

From what I hear from people that have been following Berserk for years the story gets better than the first few volumes (starting in DLX book 4 or 5 there is a massive plot twist). The paperbacks have literally sold millions of copies making this one of the best selling manga books. I'll get the fourth book in the next couple days but my initial impression is that this series will be worth it. We're looking at about 13 hardback volumes to catch up with the 40 paperback volumes that have been released.
We're getting 3 DLX volumes per year (vol 5 is scheduled for July and no solicit for 6 but I wouldn't be surprised to see it come out late this year). So the release pace isn't overwhelming. If this seems like the type of story you'll find yourself enjoying, popular opinion would seem to indicate there isn't much competition for better material. While these will take up some space, these DLX hardcovers are pretty classy looking books. We shouldn't have to worry about a spine change in the middle of the series. :)
There is also Berserker Unbound, an unrelated book by Jeff Lemire that just released it's first standard size hardcover. Mike Deodato is on art. I did like that book a fair bit but it's not on the same level as Berserk.

DH is also releasing the same style and quality HC for Hellsing starting in July I think. I’ve been buying the Berserk HC as well and been buying two of each since the first sold out so fast. I never buy books thinking they will increase in value, but given the popularity, I’m throwing the dice on these.
After just an ok start, I really enjoyed Valliant's X-O Manowar series. The series ended with a run by Matt Kindt (final DLX HC vol 2 released within the last month). I want to say there are 7 DLX hardcovers for the full run and several of them are out of print and expensive. It looks like the series is starting over in March with a new creative team and a note in this article says they aren't bound by previous continuity:
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hea...
With Bloodshot getting a movie, if Valliant is looking to do another character I'd think XO would get a hard look since he's one of the more popular characters.

I have all of the Valiant DLX HC (except Rai . . . People want stupid money for it)
Hands down XO is my favorite.

It’s too bad they don’t release Omnis like Marvel, at least for the more popular series. Like Harbinger and Ninjak would make nice omnis, XO and Bloodshoot could probably be 2 including events. I think those would sell just fine and lower the price of the current HC on the secondary market for people.

Oddly enough, there will be three different covers for the Amazing Spider-Man by Straczynski volume 2 omnibus. I like the Garney one the best followed by Deodato and there is also one by Quesada.

JMS Volume 1 didn't have any variant covers. I think Marvel is making up with 2 variants this time around. For myself, I preordered the Garney cover as I loved the Back in Black storyline.

Read the first hardback of Drifting Classroom last night in a single sitting. As a teen reader I read a couple books about kids surviving when parents weren't around/available and really enjoyed that type of story (Coral Island, Call it Courage, Trouble in Timpetill (a book I've long searched for a old hardback copy of).
While this book is a Japanese graphic novel from the 70s with a child main character, it's very much written for adults. The author isn't scared to let you know things are serious by killing off characters, including the children, as the story progresses.
The idea here is certainly interesting. The earth shakes and an entire elementary school disappears. The school reappears in a wasteland and everyone is astonished and panicked over what happens. The story is mainly focused on the school but also cuts to the family of the main character as they try to figure out what happened to their son and the school. It looks like there will be two more books and I'm interesting in reading them and seeing what happens.

Good review Erik!
Read Berserk DLX volume 4 last night. Least favorite of the four so far though still fascinated by the story. Sex and violence are part of most action movies in the US. But the sexual violence in this series mostly guarantees I'll never lend these books to anyone.
Anyone else read and enjoy Monstress?

No Monstress has been on the shelf since release. I have a hard time starting a series with a volume 1 when There is no real indication on when the release of Vol. 2 will be.
Image produces a nice product with their HC DLX books, but for the past year or so, there seems to be no guarantees on releases.

That is fair, though because Monstress contains 18 issues the space between volumes will be around that many months. I thought the content was worth the read for sure.
The first Straczynski Spider-man omnibus is sold out on IST. Plenty of copies available elsewhere still but none on IST. I assume this means we are trending towards it going out of print (same for X-Men Eve of Destruction OHC).

That said, pretty frustrated that the Swamp Thing absolute binding is coming unglued. I don’t get it, these are expensive books and really beautiful in so many ways, but you don’t put on appropriate glue. WTF.
Does anyone reinforce glue themselves? If so any advice on type of glue and how you get it in there?
Here is what I've purchased for book binding glue in the past: https://www.amazon.com/Books-Hand-Neu...
I didn't see issues with my Absolute Swamp Thing but I also only pulled it out and flipped through it once and haven't actually read it yet.
I'll look forward to your thoughts on Monstress once you get back to it. :)
I picked up a copy of Ultimate Spider-Man OHC vol 10. Paid slightly over cover for the first time. Just need volume 7 and 9 now and I'll have the complete set and I can settle in to read the whole series.
