Volume 11 gave me some serious anxiety over the fate of some of the characters. Nothing is off limits! :)

It's been pretty quiet on the release front for me this week. I'll probably look to pick up a couple things sitting on my wish list.

noelbeast | 489 comments Not much talk on here about it, but if anyone is interested, the Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Box Set Slipcase is currently down to $300 on Amazon. I’ve never seen any other Marvel box sets go for cheaper than that, but usually they dip in price like this not long after release before slowly climbing up again.
Edit: $290 on IST, so I stand corrected!

And actually, looks like the Infinity Gauntlet Box Set is also currently listed at $300 (IST: $290). Great deal for the amount of content!

The Aliens: Dead Orbit hardcover book from Dark Horse by James Stokoe is Library Edition sized in case anyone was thinking of pairing with the Library edition sized Aliens books you might already have. :)

The Johns Aquaman omnibus is back in stock on IST. I ordered a copy along with the Six Days D-Day story hardcover (I'm sure based on the price the D-Day book is standard size).

Blindzider | 3293 comments Mod
I saw something about that six days book. It is based on the creators' family history. I'd like to hear how it is when you are done.

Eastham Erik (erikakasash501) | 851 comments Mod
Agreed, I’m interested in hearing about 6 days.

I picked up dead orbit about a year ago in TPB. Read it again last week to determine if I’ll pull the trigger on the HC. For $20 I probably will. The story IMO was overly simple; I don’t think many are buying for the story. The art on the other hand . . . Really enjoyed, which justifies spending $20 for oversized format IMO.

So the Wonder Woman Omnibus moved up a week but not Absolute Black Mirror? That's disappointing...

It isn't too unusual for things to just show up on release day when they weren't showing on the pending list so Black Mirror could be there tomorrow.

Interested in Death Orb TPB, Bond Origin, Superman Rebirth DLX 4, and the Thor book if it is an OHC. I have the Wonder Woman material in Absolute.

I'm pretty sure mister miracle is standard size but I'm not positive. Most likely White Knight will be offered in OHC when the sequel is done.

All the information I've seen indicates the Mister Miracle Man HC will also be standard size. It may also be released today but it's not on the pending IST list.

The Dark Horse Usagi Yojimbo HC vol 8 should also be released on IST today.

I ordered the new Aaron Thor OHC vol 3 and Usagi Yojimbo HC vol 8. I saw someone say that Dark Horse has enough material and license that they could put out a ninth HC volume if they want to. We'll see if the decide to do so.

I'm continuing my manga sampling - I ordered the Gantz omnibus vol 1 TPB a couple weeks ago and it should be delivered today. I do wish there were more hardcover options for some of these books. Still really want to see Lone Wolf and Cub hardcovers as I'm pretty sure I would enjoy that material based on reading some of the author's other work.

I also hope we see more Battle Angel hardcovers come out now that the box set was a solid seller.

Took over a month to purchase, import from Canada and get properly framed. Original Romita pencil sketch, looks fantastic next to my Ditko letter.

Thanks to both you guys! The seller, original owner, was even kind enough to write up a narrative of his experience getting the drawing, as well as sent me pictures from the event. This was nearly 30 years ago, but JR really appreciated his fans, especially back then when McFarlane was so hot working on Spidey books.

Blind, I’d act soon on trying to collect his signature. I sent out two books to get signed by him in Feb. and just got them back recently. Compared to this sketch and another book I’ve got signed by him years ago...you can tell he’s starting to slip a bit. If anything, I hope he’s still signing for his love of fans.

Fantastic sketch. :)

Got the first Gantz omnibus in. Very small (regular book size paperback). I'm not too squeamish about nudity being in a book but this book kinda made me cringe a bit with the way it gets highlighted and a few of the events that happen. The first volume took so long to get here I already ordered the second but not sure I can recommend it so far.

Cate's Dr. Strange is probably the next up for me.

I hadn't heard anything anywhere about it. They are usually decent about e-mail inquires so it might be worth asking them if their shipment was delayed or if they sold out already.

Have you read the previous volumes? Do you recommend it - since I am checking out a few manga type books lately. :)

I don't have the other Amazing Spider-Man omnibus volumes so I'm not planning on getting vol 4. I will say though, I do like the regular cover.

Thanks for the reminder. I preordered with amazon sort’ve as a back up, but I don’t know what cover I’d get. Between the 2, I prefer the Romita cover, so just ordered with IST and cancelled the other.

message 5040: by Nickviola (new)

Nickviola | 1019 comments This is becoming consistent it seems, the variant cover marvel omnibi are 10 dollars more and you aren’t allowed to order more than 1.

Makes sense, I remember seeing the Captain Marvel variant selling for 150 on eBay while the regular cover was still available for 50% off so why let your buyers make more of a profit than you do.

I have only recently dipped my toe into the "mangoes", and while I've enjoyed a few series (Vinland Saga, Nausiica), I was surprised to find I didn't enjoy the Fullmetal Alchemist mangas. This is indeed surprising since I very much enjoyed (except for the stupid ending) the original Fullmetal Alchemist anime. I was so confident I'd enjoy the manga that I actually bought the first four books, but when I sat down to read them, I couldn't even finish the first book.

I have difficulties with the juxtaposition of high drama and slapstick/cartoonish humor. Fullmetal Alchemist is a fine example of this, and I found the zany cartoonishness to be off-putting. This seems to be the rule in manga, rather than the exception, and you are fine with it then you'll likely enjoy Fullmetal Alchemist, but I thought I'd just relate my experience.

Perhaps try them out online before purchasing? I wish I had. I'm now looking to sell my four volumes, and it'll be at a loss of course.

I've seen comments indicating there is enough for one more volume from Dark Horse though it could be a little slimmer. I ordered vol 8 as well. I hope we see a volume 9.
