I do love his art as well. :) I bet that's a great book.

So He-Man Omnibus . . . didn't really get a huge response from anyone on here. $75 to try something new . . .

I was going to do the same thing but with the book coming out the same day on both sites my cancelation request was denied by Amazon. I'll let it ride and see if it shows up tomorrow in good shape. If so, I'll have it a week earlier for a about a dollar more than IST.

Rel, are you prime? I’ve never heard of amazon denying a cancellation request . . . Seeing how I’ve never had a problem making a return.

Amazingly, my amazon order already arrived today (must have been housed here in Seattle) but of course was banged up on two corners. So I returned the Amazon order and placed an order on IST after all.
Hopefully this is the last time I do this. It’s not the first. But it’s always a waste of time. Amazon convenience is great for toilet paper and diapers but shit for books.

2019 was somewhat busy for me in form of:
Absolute Flashpoint - not read yet
BPRD HoE 4 - can't wait for #5
Green River Killer - hesitating to start it, I'm kinda afraid of the story ;-)
IDW Usagi Yojimbo Special Ed - Introduction to the ninja rabbit. Was looking to get the HC edition but boy, that thing is OOP
Klaus from Morrison - it has golden finishing on the page edges, nice
Noah from Aronofsky / Image - Haven't seen the movie and was not interested in it, the book and story however has a nice Jodorowskian touch to it.
Tom Strong DLX #2 - finally.
And randomly dipping into Judge Dredd with Case Files #16 (Ennis era). Not sure if I gonna like it.
Does that Tom Strong V2 cover all of the Alan Moore issues or did they discontinue the HCs before it finished?

I do have Prime. I imagine Nickviola and I had the same issue with the swift release of the book. I can return it but I'm hoping I won't have to. I hate the hassle.
Finished reading Jason Aaron's second Dr. Strange OHC last night. I felt like his run was ok. The art from Chris Bachalo worked well for the series. His art is a little cartoony and I haven't always liked it on everything he has done but it fit with the magical creatures and scenes in this run.
I keep hearing good things about King's Mr. Miracle. I think I'll order the TPB with his run to check it out though I really wish they had done a DLX instead of the paperback book.

Ordered Incal. Never read it or anything by him before. With all of the high-praise figured I should give it a try. It'll be interesting to see what "number" everyone here gets...
I'm going to hold out for the Mr. Miracle hardcover. There's so much critical appraise for it I think they'll do it.
One thing I liked about Aaron's Dr. Strange was the whole "price for magic" and how physically he had to pay to use spells. Otherwise I felt the whole run was lackluster. Cates' run was much more entertaining to me.

I'm in the same boat with Jodorowsky, I've never read any of his work. This book seems to be highly regarded and my impression is it's his central comic work? I assume I'll have a good feeling about what I think about him after reading this.

Cool. I don't know how long it will be till be get the second DLX but I'm down to read it when it comes.

He has a very distinctive style and switches between epic scope and private problems of his characters on a whim.
Incal (together with Moebius) is his seminal work in comics, while his attempt on the Dune movie was the most influential overall.
The Incal Deluxe is now $77 on Amazon... I didn't see it this cheap during the pre-order timeframe. Sucks to pay $94 and then see the price cut this much two days later. I assume so many people already have this in HC that is why this didn't sell out super fast despite being a number limited edition.

If you ordered it through IST, you'll end up paying like 20 bucks more to get it in good shape. With a book that weighs this much, its hard to imagine an Amazon order at least not dinging 1 corner whereas you know IST will send it in good shape.
Amazon refunded me the difference in price before I had to contact them, which is nice.
I usually order from IST just so I know I'll get my book(s) undamaged as long as the price is around the same or cheaper from IST. :)

My omnibus pick-ups this month:
- Lee/Kirby’s X-Men Vol 1 (Ross variant cover, sealed)
- Road to War of Kings
- War of Kings
- Realm of Kings
- Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 2 variant cover (killer deal for unread copy @ $120)
- Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 3
On your copy of X-Men with the Ross cover, can you tell me if the black part of the dust jacket is glossy or matte?

Matte. Slightly afraid to ask, but why?
Mine is matte also. It's the only Marvel omnibus I own that is not glossy. I was just curious if I had some weird version or if they were all that way. I'm not sure if it's only the Ross variant either.

Ah, I see. Yeah, I was slightly curious about that also, since it's also the only omni I've got with a non-glossy jacket. It does match the matte black of the dust jackets along the spines of my X-Men Marvel Masterworks vol. 7-8, though.
I found this about 10 minutes ago. According to Crushing Krisis, the Kirby cover edition is actually the variant? Bit of a bummer, but either way, I'm glad I finally picked up a copy.

I believe Marvel has flip-flopped a few times as to what is the variant: sometimes it's the original art/classic cover and sometimes it's the newer art. I wish I had all the classic cover editions but I don't.

Same with Amazing Spider-Man 2. Would’ve preferred the classic cover, but I couldn’t pass up the price I got. At least my vol 3 is the classic. I hate that modernized one they put out.

I got number 1007 of the Incal slipcased DLX. I had a slight ding on one corner of the slipcase but for nearly $20 cheaper than IST I'm going to live with it.
Congrats on the various pick ups. I personally really liked the Road to/War of/Aftermath editions of the cosmic War of Kings event. There aren't a lot of big events covered this in depth by Marvel.
I am planning on gunning for a variant cover of Savage Sword of Conan. I think I'm more interested in this series for the art vs the other one. It will be interesting to see if Aaron's new run gets OHCs or an eventual omnibus. I'm rooting for OHCs because we could get on in about a year but an omnibus would likely be multiple years down the road.
Marvel is really milking getting the Conan license for all its worth. No only are their a couple Conan titles but there is now an Avengers team with Conan... I can imagine that being written in an interesting way but the dynamic would have to be handled well for Conan to be his normal violent self alongside most Avengers who usually don't go around stabbing people.

Picked up Hulk: Dogs of War.
What is Marvel's reasoning for not labeling books like this an Omnibus?

I was curious about that book. When in the timeline did this occur? After what event?
I'm a little surprised they collected it because Jenkins burned some bridges when he left.

Anyone care to wire instructions on how to add a book? Or point to instructions? I'd like to know how to do it. I know Rel has a few times.

Not sure if you have to be a Goodreads librarian to see the link.

I hope you don't mind but I helped a bit by separating the creators so it links with the regular edition and with the correct isbn number so that the amazon link works. It's now correctly linked with the regular book as a variant cover.

I think it's 90s before Peter David? I have no idea why this run was selected for print other than perhaps being easily put into one volume? Also not sure why they didn't use the word omnibus for it? Marvel has been doing this sort of thing for a long time though. It's why I didn't buy X-Men Inferno back in the day, I didn't realize it was omnibus size because they didn't use "omnibus" in the title and I found my books back in the day by searching for the words "Marvel Omnibus" on Amazon.
My weekend order was the Masters of the Universe omnibus and Rumble TPB ol 5. I waffled on Mister Miracle and held off. I keep hearing positive reviews though.

Received my Incal Oversized yesterday (expertly packed and perfect condition as expected from IST). The close-able slipcase is interesting.
Relstuart: #1007 (Amazon)
Blindzider: #0817 (IST)
Karsten: #1498 (?)

Just received the He-Man omnibus today at work and it's quite large as expected. I haven't compared it to other omnibus yet but it feels larger and heavier than the Infinite Crisis & Final Crisis Omnis. I read the first 8 issues during lunch and it's a great read so far. Considering the size, the binding is pretty good and and the hardcover has art printed on it instead of the boring black covers some DC omnibus get.
Other recent hardcover pickups: Kaijumax Deluxe Edition Vol 1 (same size as the Sixth Gun Deluxes), Rachel Rising Omnibus, X-Statix Omnibus, Secret Warriors Omnibus, Immortal Iron Fist Omnibus, Black Hammer Library Edition 1, BPRD Hell on Earth Vol 4 and Batgirl Year One OHC.
Also grabbed some TPBs: BPRD Plague of Frogs 3 & 4 (I've given up on finding the hardcovers), Batman Caped Crusader Vol 2, Forever Evil, Superman Secret Origins, Thanos vol 1-3 and Cosmic Ghost Rider.
You were able to find the iron fist omnibus!? Congrats! I'm thinking about getting the Batgirl year one.

I enjoyed Robin Year One so I decided to try Batgirl.
Iron fist and secret warriors NICE.
The invalid I have coming and happy everyone loves it . . . I almost pulled the trigger of the Ultimate DLX version . . . Ouch!

Nice man! At first I thought you were referring to that $6000 marvel omnibus lot with some pretty good books, but that wasn't it. I was looking at that X-Men Omnibus vol. 1 from JSComics. The one with the Alex Ross variant cover? Sweet!
