UnusualChild{beppy} | 1282 comments hi, diane ~firefly~

we seem to have fairly similar tastes, so i think i picked some good ones for you. for the most part, i tried to pick a new one and one from your tbr for each category.

make new friends

new to you author
About Last Night (new)- i discovered ruthie knox a couple of years ago and i really like her.
Wallbanger (tbr) - i didn't see anything else by alice clayton in your books anywhere

new to me author
On Dublin Street (new) - every time i read a book by samantha young, i'm surprised by how well written it is and how it draws me in.
Shifting Dreams (tbr) - i definitely want to read the next book in the series.

new release
Transcendence (new) - i enjoyed this 2014 release when i read it earlier this year.
Unbinding (tbr) - released october of this year

new series
Feral Sins (new) - there were so many choices for me here, but i ultimately went with this one. i liked that the H didn't feel as the the h was deficient in any way...and neither did she, even though just about everyone else did. a word of warning, though: apparently the earlier versions of this book had a menage situation. it wasn't in the version i read, and i think it was that much stronger for it, so if you don't want menage, make sure you get a later version of the book. i think that i got mine in 2012.
Beg For Mercy (tbr) - it looks like you haven't read anything in this series.

keep the old

your favourite author
Motor Mouth (tbr) - according to your stats, your second or third favourite author.
River Road (tbr) - your number 1 favouritest author (i know it's not a word, but i'm using it anyway.)

my favourite author
Just Good Friends (new) - i really, really like rosalind james (aka the author i like to recommend as often as possible). this isn't the first book in the series, but it is a standalone and i still haven't read the first book, so i can't speak for the quality of the story. i have liked everything else that i've read by her, though. if you like to read series in order, the first book is Just This Once and you can read it instead.
Her Hesitant Heart (new) - carla kelly writes such honourable, real men. i keep saying that i would follow her anywhere her writing journey takes her, even if that edges into something i wouldn't normally read.

older book
Surrender A Dream (new) - aka one of the best books that no one has heard of. i absolutely adore this book. it had me laughing, crying and everything in between. i think it's a shame that she didn't a) write more books and b) that more people aren't aware of her books.
Lie to Me (tbr) - published in 2008

next book in series
Summoning the Night (new) - you said that you wanted to read the next one in the series, and i didn't find it on your book lists. ;)
Black Widow (tbr) - next in the "elemental assassin" series

hope you enjoy. let me know if you need any re-picks.

Black Widow (Elemental Assassin, #12) by Jennifer Estep Summoning the Night (Arcadia Bell, #2) by Jenn Bennett Lie to Me by Starr Ambrose Surrender A Dream by Jill Barnett Her Hesitant Heart by Carla Kelly Just Good Friends (Escape to New Zealand, #2) by Rosalind James River Road by Jayne Ann Krentz Motor Mouth (Alex Barnaby #2) by Janet Evanovich Beg For Mercy (Mercy Hollings #1) by Toni Andrews Feral Sins (The Phoenix Pack, #1) by Suzanne Wright Unbinding (World of the Lupi, #11) by Eileen Wilks Transcendence by Shay Savage Shifting Dreams (Cambio Springs, #1) by Elizabeth Hunter On Dublin Street (On Dublin Street, #1) by Samantha Young Wallbanger (Cocktail, #1) by Alice Clayton About Last Night by Ruthie Knox

Diane ~Firefly~ | 1512 comments Joyce

I had fun looking through your shelves as we have a lot in common. I hope you like your picks.

Make New Friends

New to them author:
A Potion to Die For by Heather Blake is a paranormal mystery that is fun. The town is a bit wedding crazy. Or check out an UF book based a bit on Greek mythology with Red Hot Fury by Kasey MacKenzie

New to you author: I just read the first in these series recently and enjoyed them, so maybe you will as well. The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch is high fantasy with anti-heroes. Or check out Kindling the Moon by Jenn Bennett which starts an intriguing UF series with demons.

New Release: I only have one that I have any knowledge of as most of my recent releases are further in series. But it is a great book - Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews (which is also on your TBR)

New Series: Animal Magnetism by Jill Shalvis. Since you have a few cats, you may enjoy this series. Or check out Dark Descendant by Jenna Black from your TBR. It is definitely a twist on the normal UF. Just be aware it starts a bit confusing as Nikki has no idea what is going on.

A Potion to Die For (Magic Potion Mystery #1) by Heather Blake Red Hot Fury (Shades of Fury, #1) by Kasey MacKenzie The Lies of Locke Lamora (Gentleman Bastard, #1) by Scott Lynch Kindling the Moon (Arcadia Bell, #1) by Jenn Bennett Burn for Me (Hidden Legacy, #1) by Ilona Andrews Animal Magnetism (Animal Magnetism, #1) by Jill Shalvis Dark Descendant (Nikki Glass, #1) by Jenna Black

Keep the Old

Their Favorite Author:
Check out more of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunters with Night Play. Bride and Vane are one of my favorites. Or there is The Man With the Golden Torc by Simon R. Green which has a lot of James Bond type of action in this UF book.

Your Favorite Author:Agnes and the Hitman by Jennifer Crusie. I just recently re-read this and still love the kooky characters with a touch of mystery. Jennifer Estep has recently become one of my favorites as I love two of her series. I think you would prefer the Mythos Academy YA with Touch of Frost

Older Book: The Corset Diaries by Katie MacAliser is a lot of fun as the people are starring in a reality TV series based on olden times. Or check out Playing for Keeps by R.L. Mathewson which is fun (although the conflict was stupidly blown out of proportion). The "reltionship" with food the men have is pretty funny.

Next Book in Series: Two great series your are reading can be continued with Proven Guilty by Jim Butcher or Witness in Death by J.D. Robb

Night Play (Were-Hunter, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon The Man With the Golden Torc (Secret Histories, #1) by Simon R. Green Agnes and the Hitman by Jennifer Crusie Touch of Frost (Mythos Academy, #1) by Jennifer Estep The Corset Diaries by Katie MacAlister Playing for Keeps (Neighbor from Hell, #1) by R.L. Mathewson Proven Guilty (The Dresden Files, #8) by Jim Butcher Witness in Death (In Death, #10) by J.D. Robb

Thanks for the amazing picks beppy. While I will definitely be reading River Road there are lots of other intriguing options.

BTW, I do want to continue the Arcadia Bell series (thanks for the previous rec) but books only end up on my TBR once I have purchased them, so it is just on my wishlist so far.

message 63: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11382 comments Hi Dee!

I survived your shelves! =P I had trouble finding things that are new to you – almost everything I thought of you already had, but I managed to find some. Hope you find some that make you happy!

Make New Friends

New to them author:
New – Shaken by Dee Tenorio – I loved this book, and it's one of my go-to recemmendations. So much emotion in such a small package!
New – The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion – This was just plain fun, and I can't wait to get my hands on the sequel.

New to you author:
New – Fatal Affair – I started this series a few months ago, and liked it enough that I listened to the first three books right in a row. There are some similarities to the In Death books, but definite differences too.
TBR – Dane – I just read this a few days ago, my first experience with this author, and I enjoyed it quite a lot.

New Release:
TBR – Hook, Line, & Sinker – I haven't read this one yet, but you rated the first book highly, and it's Piper Vaughn...kind of hard to go wrong, for me at least!
TBR – 1001 Dark Nights: Roped In – Another one I haven't read yet but love the author.

New Series:
TBR – Hard as It Gets – I love this series, and this author in general. The newest book is high on my TBR.
New – Forgotten Sins – I read (or actually listened to) this a couple of months ago, and was quite intrigued by the sexy Dean brothers.

Keep the Old

Their Favorite Author:
TBR – I'm Dreaming of an Undead Christmas – A little late for Christmas, but it's never the wrong season for Molly Harper!
TBR – Archangel's Kiss – Author of the year for 2015, I really need to get into this series.

Your Favorite Author:
TBR – Born in Death (or whatever book is up next, I couldn't tell for sure) – if I was forced to pick, this would probably be my all-time favorite series.
TBR – Making Promises – I forget in between books how emotional Amy Lane's books are, but just read another one that reminded me all over again, and I loved this whole series.

Older Book:
New – Do Over – Another short book packed with emotion, I loved it!
New – Quinn's Hart – Short and so sweet.

Next Book in Series:
TBR – The Sum of All Kisses – I haven't read this series yet, but it's on your preferred shelf and you rated the first two books in the series fairly highly.
TBR – Up From the Grave – Really good ending to a series that I loved!

Enjoy, and have a wonderful holiday!

Breann | 398 comments Hi MountainKat! Here are my picks for you! I added a few to my shelf while browsing yours :)

New to them author
Come Away with Me(Shelf), I love the cover!
I absolutely adored Butterfly Hunter(New) so I'll add this one here, too.

New to you author
Love is a Stranger(New) Seriously. This series is quickly moving to the very tip-top of my favorites list. Nik & Ben are… like my new Ty & Zane, but more. Seriously.
Jay Walking(New) Fun, cute, light bird-shifter story. It doesn’t take itself seriously at all, and it’s full of bird puns. Just cute.

New Release
The Back-Up Plan(Shelf) I always really enjoy Mari Carr. Come to think of it, I haven't read any of hers in quite some time!
Loveblood(New) is adorable, adorable, adorable! I squeed and grinned and sighed like a crazy person.

New Series
Kodiak's Claim(Shelf)
Home Again(Shelf) While this wasn’t my favorite in the series (3 stars from me) I’m rec’ing this because I seriously love the later books in the series. The first few were okay, but the rest solidified Cardeno C. as a favorite author of mine. The books don’t necessarily need to be read in order, either. I guess I'm recommending the series as a whole :)

Their favorite author
Rocky Mountain Rebel(Shelf)
The Gravedigger's Brawl(TBR) This isn’t on your shelf, but it’s my favorite Abi Roux.

Your Favorite Author
Christmas Kitsch(Shelf) I've not read this one, but Amy Lane knows how to write a holiday story!
Mine to Possess(TBR) Again, this one isn’t on your shelf, but you seem to have liked the first three in the series and this is another really good one!

Older Book
Chased(Shelf)
Mind Games(New) I love this UF series

Next Book in series
Prelude(Shelf)
Take Me(Shelf) Another case of cover love from me!

I hope you find a few to enjoy! Happy Holidays!

Tammie | 2031 comments Tarsila--I'm glad to make these picks for you...we couldn't be farther apart in favorite books...but hopefully I've gotten close to what you may like...enjoy!

Make New Friends

New to them author: The Great Gatsby is considered to be an American Classic. Very well written and shorter. I hope you enjoy it…it was a book I read quite a long time ago…I think I was in college.

New to you author: I recently read Secret Daughter by Shilpi Somaya Gowda…very well written and I believe one of my all time favorite books.

New Release: We Were Liars, E. Lockhart was released mid-year this year. Top vote getter for Good Reads in the Young Adult category. Check it out!

New Series: To All the Boys I've Loved Before, Jenny Han. Book 2 comes out sometime next year OR if you want a more established series…If I Stay, Gayle Forman

Keep the Old

Your Favorite Author: Abandon, Meg Cabot seems to be one of your favorites.

Tania | 644 comments Skandia,

I had so much fun rummaging around your bookshelves :) I hope you find something here you'd like to read.

Make New Friends

New to them author:

You have a couple of Nalini Singh's books in your tbr but can I suggest Angels' Blood. It's the start of one of my favourite, constantly being re-read, series. If you like reading via audiobooks the narration is excellent.

New to you author:

This one is a little bit harder for me to do. I haven't had any time to read in the last couple of years and am only just getting back into it. There's only been a couple of authors I've been able to keep up on so I'm going to recommend one that isn't technically "new to me" but is one of the first authors I've started catching up on now I have a bit more time. You've read books 1 & 2 of Larissa Ione's Demonica series so why don't you read number 3 Passion Unleashed

New Release:

Jeaniene Frost's first book in her new series has been released recently. Try The Beautiful Ashes, I'd be interested to hear what you think.

New Series:

Devon Monk's Allie Beckstrom series is amazing and uses magic as in a way I've never seen before. It takes a while to ease into the series and Magic to the Bone does suffer from first book syndrome slightly but it's worth it. It's also a series that has been finished if you like to read series that have concluded.

Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1) by Nalini Singh Passion Unleashed (Demonica, #3) by Larissa Ione The Beautiful Ashes (Broken Destiny, #1) by Jeaniene Frost Magic to the Bone (Allie Beckstrom, #1) by Devon Monk

Keep the Old

Their Favorite Author:
You seem to have loved the start of Molly Harper's Jane Jameson series so either read the next book Nice Girls Don't Live Forever or if you'd like a book about fresh starts for the new year try How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf.

Your Favorite Author:
I don't think I've recommended anything yet that wasn't from my favourite authors, so I'm going to bend the rules a little and recommend Ann Aguirre's Grimspace. No matter how many books I read - it sticks in my mind as one of my favourites.

Older Book:
Let's go as old as your tbr list goes. Villette by Charlotte Brontë.

Next Book in Series:

You rated the first three of the series as 5 stars so I think to round off the recs I'll suggest you read Jennifer L. Armentrout's next book in her Lux series Origin

How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #1) by Molly Harper Grimspace (Sirantha Jax, #1) by Ann Aguirre Villette by Charlotte Brontë Origin (Lux, #4) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Cry No More or After the Night (NEW): Both are favorites from Linda Howard who is a new author to you.
Backseat Saints (NEW): Joshilyn Jackson is a new to you author and I really enjoy her books. This book is kind of dark and explores domestic violence but it has an honesty and brashness to it that I found appealing.

Black Ice (Ice, #1) by Anne Stuart
