Author Shakti Ghosal (authorshaktighosal) | 8 comments OMG! Chadwick Boseman's passing away is indeed a tragedy. Such a fine young man. I had not been aware that he was suffering from Cancer. RIP.

AT Demeter | 48 comments Hey, y’all. I hope everyone’s okay. I’m just getting through the same normal, everyday routine at home. Y’know, I’m sure. 😊
Can you believe fall is already here? I sure can. It’s gotten nippy lately, but that’s what you can expect from this season. The other day I had SUCH a time trying to get clothes hung out on the clothesline - it was THAT windy! I tell you, I was so frustrated that I actually scolded the wind! 😳
I know, I know, dumb. Not to mention I was sure that God must be trying to teach me a lesson since I was in a bit of a bad mood before I went out to hang clothes. If so, he sure had the right idea! But I don’t blame Him, ‘cause I know I deserve it.
Anyway, do you have anything I can pray for you? If you have any prayer requests big or small, I’ll be more than delighted to pray about them. No matter if you’re a Christian or not, or if you don’t believe the same way I do - just don’t be afraid to ask me to pray for you. And you don’t have to tell exactly what the prayer request is about (if either it’s personal or you just don’t want to - I’ll bring it anyway to the One who DOES know what it’s about).
And that goes for anyone of the LGBTQ community. I may be straight as all get out, but I definitely am not self-righteous or stuck-up toward you. I’m no better than anyone, much less you. So if you have anything you want me to pray about, don’t hesitate to lay it before me.
Love you guys and the good Lord give you a fantastic week!
❤️
Ashlynne

You have to be from the South. I have not hung clothes outside for ages. Have a great day.

Kristie | 5928 comments Happy October, Christine. I can't believe we're in October. September seemed to fly by for me.

message 364: by Vandana (new)

Vandana Sinha (runnu) | 39 comments For us it's still hot and humid. I really long for a nip in the wind, a slight chill in the early mornings and late evenings. Winter brings a wonderful range of vegetables and opens up a huge variety of dishes to choose while cooking. I wish the weather would change. And the Virus would disappear.
And thank you Ashlynne for including everyone in your prayers. Just pray for world peace. And health

Groovy Lee It's good to see that everyone is doing fine. Happy October and Fall to everyone. I might be the odd one out but I don't like the nip in the air. I absolutely hate cold weather. I want it to stay warm all year long so I can do my favorite thing and sit outdoors at 2 am. Instead I'm going to be stuck inside the house until late April of next year in a cold house because I'm trying to keep my heating bill down. Sorry, don't mind my rant.

I'm so sorry about Chadwick Bosman's death. He was just too young.

Be safe, Everyone!!

Winter is my least favorite season. I actually moved to Virginia from New England because of the winters. Too much snow! And the cold lasts far too many months. I like still having the change of seasons, but with a much less intense and shorter winter.

message 370: by Tammy (new)

Tammy | 31 comments I like the early fall when I can open up the house and wear jeans and a top but no coat.

message 371: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee Kristie, I could never live in New England. I would be miserable. What is winter like in Virginia? Is it just right for you?

Here in TN, it doesn't start to get cold until the last of Oct. or in Nov. About every three years, we get hit with a bit of snow and ice. And like you, I much prefer a shorter winter.

Tammy, I've come to appreciate the fall season. It's not too hot. It's not too cold. The weather can be so perfect. The AC is off so your electric bills will be the lowest it's going to be that year-LOL.

message 372: by Kristie, Moderator (Retired) (new)

Kristie | 5928 comments We haven't been here too many years, but it seems like we may get snow every year. It usually isn't very much and it melts in the sun the next day so they don't even need to plow the streets.

In New England it gets colder sooner and lasts longer. It seems to be about 20º colder in the winter and when it snows you get a lot more. Not always, but there were many years where my kids had to wear winter jackets under their Halloween costumes and I know we've passed on early season (early April) baseball tickets because it would be too cold in the evenings.

The summer temperature isn't too much different, but it is much more humid here in Virginia. I still have a hard time with that. The air can get really heavy and thick feeling. Also, the sun is stronger, so even though it might not be hotter temperature-wise, you may still burn easier.

Esther (eshchory) | 125 comments We are supposed to be moving towards winter but today it is 33C outside and there is no sign of any rain yet.
We miss winter. The temps rarely hit 0C round here and if there is any hint of snow we rush up into the mountains to catch sight of it.

message 375: by Kristie, Moderator (Retired) (new)

Kristie | 5928 comments Wow, Esther. That is still pretty hot if you're heading into winter. We are also heading into winter and it was unseasonably warm here yesterday. It was 81℉ (about 27℃). We are only expecting it to be about 67℉ (19℃) today, so much cooler.

I like that we still get snow in this area. We don't get a lot or get it often, but every winter we do get some.

Winter here it is often abt 30c mid-morning then it rains and the temp drops by 10-15 degrees and then an hour later the rain stops, the sun comes out from behind a cloud and the temps go back up again.

message 377: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee We have the last week of Oct. to go from very warm to cool. After that, the temperature goes down until we hit 40F or 30's until March. They say if you see a wooly worm it means a snowy winter. I saw one, so we'll see (In Nashville, we barely get snow)

message 378: by Kristie, Moderator (Retired) (new)

Kristie | 5928 comments I have a real life book club tonight. We are a small group meeting outdoors & socially distancing due to COVID. It only ended up being 61℉ will be in the low 50's once the sun goes down (so early now!). I'd better bring a blanket and some hot chocolate!

Is anyone doing anything to celebrate Halloween this year? I sent a box of goodies to my grandson, but have no other plans. Maybe I'll watch a Halloween movie. I think it's time for Hocus Pocus. :)

If you like royal historical fiction, Philippa Gregory is an amazing author. She has quite a few books and a few series on the side. I recommend the following: The Other Boleyn Girl; The Kingmaker's Daughter; Three Sisters, Three Queens; The Boleyn Inheritance. I hope this helps!

Hope everything is going well for you, Groovy, and you aren't dealing directly with the virus aside from the standard precautions, etc. It really is a horrible mess.

message 395: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee Thank-you, Kristie. So far, my daughter and I are being careful, and managing to get through this. I wish all the BEST for you and your family, as well. I agree, this is a horrible mess that keeps growing and growing. Some older friends in my circle have lost their lives to this. I can't wait for the vaccinations to begin even though it's in stages.
