I have to say Anita- I found these books easier when I did them in audio. The first several books - it was hard to keep all the characters straight, what species likes what species, which ones hate each other etc. With the audio and the narrator doing different voices for the characters made it easier for me to know who was who. I think I started audio on #4. Plus, all of these books overlap in time so if you don't read them for a while.....it get's confusing.

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 1591 comments Week 1 spot 10:

Under My Skin (first in series)
finished 11/15
rating 4 stars.

I liked this book when if it was a little less jump to conclusions angsty I could have loved it. Dylan is a tattoo artist and rides a motorcycle, so Sebastian thinks he must be a bad boy. Sebastian has had problem with bad boys using him badly and even though you can feel that Dylan is different and there are hints for Sebastian everywhere that he is different. Sebastian always jumps top the worst conclusion and tries to preemptive destroy the relationship to protect himself.
you were hurt, we get it Sebastian now grow up and see the truth in front of you. A fun read but other than that quirk of angst that drove me batty it hit all my buttons.

Debbie (Doc) | 1496 comments Witness in Death (In Death, #10) by J.D. Robb by J.D. Robb

Week 1 Spot 10 - Read #10 in a series
4 stars
11/20/14

This is book #10 in a series. I actually enjoyed the narrator more than the actual storyline. I love this series as each book brings us closer to Eve and Roarke. Other key characters are also included. As Roarke and Eve attend a play, one of the actors is stabbed with a knife that should have been a prop. There are twists at every turn. I realized the killer early on, but the narrator was so good that it didn't matter. If you have not read the other books, I do suggest that you read this series in order.

Anita Reads | 436 comments Week 1 - Spot 10

Die for You by Lisa Unger

Book:
Die for You by Lisa Unger
Finished: 11/20/14
Rated: ★★

Review:
Isabel Raine thought she had everything she wanted. A good job, a happy family and a loving husband. Then one day Marcus - her husband leaves for work and then just vanishes.
Everything she thought she knew was a lie. She suddenly finds herself robbed of everything she owns and has all this time been betrayed by her husband.

I hoped this would be a great book, but it's been a long time since I've hated all the characters in a book. I actually don't think that's ever happened before. Usually there's at least one character I can relate to somehow, but in this case they're all really annoying.
The writing was alright and I liked the storyline, but then all the good stops there.
I sure hope for a better books for the next 2 weeks.

Week 1: Roll 1
Spot 10
Narcissus in Chains (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #10) by Laurell K. Hamilton
Book:
Narcissus in Chains (Anita Blake, Vampire hunter Book 10)
Read: 11/20
Rating & Review: ★★★★.
This was another good installment of Anita Blake. Anita gets word that her were leopards are in trouble so she asks her vampire lover Jean Claude for help. It's huge because Anita has avoided JC and her other werewolf lover Richard for the last 6 months. Anita can't make up her mind between the cold lover or the hot one. As Anita tries to deal with the new threat to the shifters, she is severely hurt. The plot against them unfolds.

Anita grows more powerful as her link to JC and Richard allows her to draw from them. This triumvirate they have makes me uncomfortable though because it's a weird ménage. It seems to me that Anita becomes less human and more supernatural with each book. I get why people don't like Richard in this book but I still enjoy his character. He's never been comfortable in his position as Ulfric and doesnt revel in his status nor does he have the years as master like JC. That's why I can understand his choices.
