Bright I Burn by Molly Aitken
Based on the story of a woman in thirteenth century Ireland who was the first to be condemned as a witch. Had great potential but the writing approach was a bit too experimental. Might work better for Booker-style lit fic lovers.

The Love Elixir of Augusta Stern by Lynda Cohen Loigman
This worked well for many readers, but I couldn't stand the contemporary timeline. The historical timeline saves the book.

⭐⭐⭐⭐.2 for this multi-layered Aussie outback story
Out in Nowhere by Fleur McDonald https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
A lovely second chance romance with just a little spice
Outback Reunion by Rachael Johns ⭐⭐⭐⭐ https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Pete Prown has put together the perfect gift for you or any blues guitar enthusiasts in your life, The Ultimate Book of Blues Guitar Legends: The Players and Guitars That Shaped the Music. History, bios, photos, and plenty of anecdotes.
My review of The Ultimate Book of Blues Guitar Legends with several illustrations and photos
I liked
Nether Stationby Kevin J. Anderson.
For me, it came across as a cozy sci-fi.

A couple more fun ones from Amazon's Busybodies Collection, cosy mysteries.Crime of Fashion by Emma Rosenblum takes place at a fashion shoot where a minor underling is accused of stealing a necklace worth $3million! Poor kid.
My review of Crime of Fashion~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Nosy Neighbor is by Nita Prose, who wrote the popular The Maid, among other things. It seemed straightforward, but I should have known better. Nicely twisty.
My review of The Nosy Neighbor
The Swarm by Andy Marino
isn't creepy. Disappointed.2 Stars..

The Twelve by Liz Hyder
Liz Hyder doesn't go wrong even when she is writing YA.

Brightly Shining is a translation of Ingvild H. Rishøi's short novel about two young girls and a very cold Christmas in Norway. The original was very popular, and now it's in English. Did I mention it is very cold?! Brrr
My review of Brightly Shining
The Last Hour Between Worlds by Melissa Caruso has potential but is majorly lacking depth to the world!2 Stars

The Whispering Night by Susan Dennard... A nice ending for a good series.3 Stars

Aussie author and former journo Chris Hammer writes complex mysteries with a broad range of characters. The Valley has gold mining, politicians, cops (straight and bent), hippie types, and a couple of favourite detectives. Another excellent read.
My review of The Valley
A Trinket for the Taking by Victoria Laurie
was a good story but the MC and other characters are materialistic. I got bored as they looked through their closet trying to find the perfect outfit... 3 Stars, but I doubt I'll read any more from this series.

Across the Ages by Gabrielle Meyer
One of my all-time favourite series delivers yet another winner. Great for historical fiction readers who enjoy a dash of fantasy and Christian elements in their books.

The Specimen by Jaima Fixsen
One of the best historical mysteries I have read in a long time. Based on true events. Haunting and gripping!

I recently finished the final two novellas in Amazon's Busybodies Collection of six cosy mysteries and especially enjoyed the last one. One Lucky Subscriber by Kellye Garrett features an imaginative YouTube celebrity hosting a tricky hide-n-seek with big prize money in the the American Dream Mall.
My review of One Lucky Subscriber~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A Classic Case by Alicia Thompson is my favourite - a delightful rom-com mystery with a nice twist. Good finish to an uneven collection.
My review of A Classic Case
The Library of Heartbeats by Laura Imai Messina
Also published as 'The Heartbeat Library'. A mellow character-driven read with some powerful themes. Don't opt for the audio version!

Miss Kim Knows and Other Stories by Cho Nam-Joo
If you liked this author's seminal feminist work 'Kim Jiyoung Born 1982', you shouldn't miss her latest work, a short story collection.

The Mystery Guest by Nita Prose
Finally got to this backlog title. It was *almost* as good as book one.

⭐⭐⭐⭐.4 for
The Winds from Further West written by Alexander McCall Smith and superbly narrated by James Rottger. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Little Christmas Library by David M. Barnett
A heartwarming Christmas drama with a dash of magical realism. quite an unusual holiday read! Good for those who like character-oriented fiction.

DallerGut Dream Department Store by Mi-Ye Lee 2 Stars

And I didn't hate These Deathless Shores by P.H. Low
but it needs a lot of work1 Star

How to Summon a Fairy Godmother by Laura J. Mayo
As fabulous as the cover! One scene left me a bit uncomfortable, otherwise, I'd have gone even higher in my rating. A great option for cosy fantasy lovers, except for the animal cruelty part.
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
One more off my backlog...A Magic Fierce and Bright by Hemant Nayak
I liked this one, but the world-building, history, and magic should have been described more!
3 Stars

Grave Talk by Nick Spalding
Loved this story of a strong platonic friendship!
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Scarlet Throne by Amy Leow
a disappointing read for me.2 Stars
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
How to Age Disgracefully by Clare Pooley possibly appeals to readers as it rides the current wave of lighthearted stories about canny oldies using their natural invisibility to go unnoticed so they can get away with things - not murder, I hasten to add.
My review of How To Age Disgracefully
Nightstrider by Sophia Slade
is an interesting story with a unique world.3 Stars
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
One more off my backlog!
I wondered if Eddie Winston Is Looking for Love might be another formulaic feel-good story, but I think Marianne Cronin got the vibe right in mixing young with old, as she did in her previous book, The One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot, which I loved.
