I keep putting on the list and taking it off. I really love the series, but everytime I think I'm gong to start it another great series gets in the way.

Gary, really is the sweetest! Wish he was a lot younger, he would be perfect for Jo. Funny eventhough this book did not have any romance in it, I really enjoyed it.

Thunderbird Falls was okay. Coyote Dreams was much better--seems she got back on track.
Before you read the next one, try to get your hands on the short "Banshee Cries" from the anthology Winter Moon. She references it a lot in the next books and I was completely befuddled til I found it. She also has a short on her website that comes after Coyote Dreams.

Michelle M--you really need to get on board. How have you not fallen into the BDB trap yet? Book 1 is good but I really got into it after Book 2.

I think I like Butch.

I like him too. His book is the fourth one and I have to say it's close to being my favorite, or at least tied with V's.

Cherra, wow you make me curious about the 5th book. Vishious has that slickness and secretiveness about him... ooh I like I like.
Boy this book really ups the hits on urban dictionary cause I need to look up a lot of stuff (BVD, O-Z, etc.).
Like I tell my dad when he comments me on reading rubbish: 'you learn something from every book'.

Loved Predatory Game, but I've liked all the GhostWalker books I've read so far, so there really wasn't any doubt in my mind that I would :)
I was going to pick up Stolen next but all this talk about the BDB boys has made me go for Lover Eternal instead!

Cherra, wow you make me curious about the 5th book. Vishious has that slickness and secretiveness about him...."
My girlfriend started reading Dark Lover at my suggestion and she called me and said: What are you having me read now? I feel like this is a comic book--with these "stupid" names spelled funny...
I had never really thought about it, but in hind sight I guess the first book- especially as you are getting into the story- is reminiscent of a comic book because the characters are larger than life in persona and physical attributes and the names are comic-ish.
Mel--You are right about the urban dictionary--its kinda funny to imagine them talking like this. At first, I thought they sounded kinda silly in my mind because I picture these ancient vampires being hip and adapting their lingo. Sometimes it really made me laugh. One thing I couldnt really get used to for instance, is that they all seem to plug in the word "true" at the end of many sentences for emphasis. So a sentence might be something like: "If I'm not up by eight, wake me up, true?" I almost always had to reread the sentence because it sounds silly to me.

But I thought Vishious was the only one 'true'-ing all the time?
I think it's both funny and endearing when they say 'my brother'. It sounds almost oldfashioned but then they combine it with some swearing and cursing and slang...

But Mel, you'll be missing out on Clay!

But I though Vishious was the only one 'true'-in..."
maybe it is Vishious who is "true-ing" all the time--I will have to investigate that...I think it was written so frequently I felt like it was all of them. and I am with you on the "my brother".

Bloodfever was great. I'm starting to actually like Barrons even though he's a hard headed, manipulative, and sometimes just down right mean egomaniac. I wish he would grow a pair and let down his guard around Mac so they each will know how much they like eachother! This is the slowest climatic romance I have ever read about and it's driving me crazy! Maybe that's why I have enjoyed the books so much. I always think, "maybe the next book they will realize." Along with the romance I love the action with a little bit of the damsel-in-distress modes. Mac would kill me if she read that. In a nut shell, great read.

Ha, that's too funny. My chemistry class is only an hour long so I don't think anyone has tried to sleep, but in a class of 200 it would be pretty easy to do and not get caught. My other classes though are much smaller and you have to participate otherwise you get called on. I try to volunteer on the easy questions so the slackers get the hard ones. Ha. I've got one class that is reading intensive (6 books plus handouts, primary documents, and various excerpts from ebooks) and it's taking up a lot of my free-reading time, which makes me really sad.
I've got some time tonight though so I'm hoping to at least finish Stray, I've only got 75 pages left!

Well, I wanted to read something scary, and that's exactly what 'Salem's Lot was. I enjoyed the movie when I first watched it years and years ago; and the book is even better. I really regret not reading this one sooner.
Michelle in TN
Um, how scarey is it Michelle? Is it lots of "blood and gore" like a slasher? Or is it psychological type scarey? I want more info because I hadn't really had much of an urge to read this but if the book is really good, maybe I'll change my mind.

All right. So I overcame my weird bias and read Dark Lover. The fact that I finished it within two days shows I certainly didn't hate it.
But I didn't love it. I'm not a fan of: "Oops. My vagina fell on your penis. What was your name again?"
And the line "Her core bloomed for him" had me cackling for a good 10 minutes.
But Butch peaked my interest, and I want to know wtf is up with Zsadist. I'll also admit that the decisions Wrath makes toward the end might lend themselves to better worldbuilding in subsequent books.
So yes, pushers, I'll read book 2. Stop dancing at me.

I know! Hopefully he won't be too PO'd at me for passing him over twice! Stolen is definitely next up :)

Michelle, I KNEW you'd like Zsadist!!! He'll get his own book too (#3) right before Butch (#4).
How did you like the Butch & Marissa thing?

For me, it more of and "eerie" kind of scary. The orignial movie version Salem's Lot is one of favorite vampire movies of all time, ever since my older brother let me watch it while he was babysitting. I think I was 6 or 7 yrs old then and it completely terrified me. Since then, I watched the movie more times than I can count. So, I knew the outcome and what to expect. In the book version, Stephen King gives you a little bit more info into the daily lives of the towns people, so when they start disappearing, it's like "hey guys, there's a problem here, get out of town!" I mean, they're basically getting picked off one by one, and everybody's in some kind of denial. Or, I was anticipating the things that were about to happen and I wanted to yell at the characters to go in the other direction, wear a cross, or hide until sunlight. Plus, I could just so easily see the characters and what he was describing from seeing the movie. I guess it doesn't help that my two mini dachshunds just HAVE to always go out after dark, and my neighborhood is eerily quiet and practically pitch black after the sun goes down. I love the way King sets up a story. It's like, everything is calm and you're start getting bored or complacent, and then BAM!!! Here comes the scary.

1. The Devil's Due (Lenore)
2. Blood and Chocolate (Lucy)
3. Kiss of Crimson (Nita)
7. Undead and Unwelcome (Lady Ozma)
