Parts of The Obelisk Gate take place in Antarctica too! I read it for this challenge, but didn't mention it since I don't see Antarctica on your map. But if you're adding it ... here's another book!!

message 218: by Sandra (new)

Sandra The Old Woman in a Van (theoldwomaninavan) | 66 comments The Obelisk Gate doesn’t take place on Earth. I suggested outer space be added and non-Earth planets should too!!! Great book (and trilogy).

message 219: by Nadine in NY (new)

Nadine in NY Jones | 2285 comments Interesting. I completely read that series as being a far-future dystopian set on Earth.

Wizard of Oz would be a great one for the children's classic! I've read it already so I can't use it, but I recommend!

message 223: by Lizzy (new)

Lizzy | 907 comments I think I saw that Kathy was reading Wizard of Oz, so that pesky Kansas should be taken care of soon. Wouldn’t you know that I saw a WoO prequel on sale today as well.

Raquel (Silver Valkyrie Reads) Just found this thread and love the idea! Here's what I've read for ATY so far this year (I'm a bit behind, focusing on Popsugar, but hope to catch up before too long):

Albania:
The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax

China:
Reamde (this book is kind of everywhere, but I think China is the most noticeable setting)

Czech Republic:
Tomorrow Will Be Better: A True Story of Love and One Family's Triumph over the Horrors of World War II

England:
Peter Pan (unless it should count for Neverland :-) )

The Mystery of Agatha Christie

France:
Edible History: Easy Ancient Celtic, Gallic and Roman Techniques for Leavening Bread Without Modern Commercial Yeast (if anyone has a better idea than France I'm open to suggestions. )

USA:
Miss Pickerell on the Moon She seems to live in the Midwest, but I don't think a specific state is mentioned.

USA, Alabama:
Looking for Alaska

USA, Georgia:
Confessions of a Teenage Zombie Queen

USA, Montana:
The Trumpet of the Swan (Arguably, might more take place in Pennsylvania?)

Not on the map:
Death in Winter outer space/fictional planets
All I Really Need to Know I Learned from Watching Star Trek outer space (unless you count it as US because that's where the author experienced Star Trek?)
The Holy War Mansoul
Cinderella Is Evil generic fantasy world

The maps have been updated through message 248. Sorry, Cheri, I hadn't refreshed the page after you posted. But it will be added to the next batch.

New locations this week:
Albania
Bolivia
Chile
Czech Republic
Cyprus
Lebanon
Martinique
Moldova
New Zealand
Pakistan
Palestine
Trinidad

I've seen a lot of requests to include fantasy or outer space locations. I'm really not sure how that would be done. So if people have specific ideas, definitely share them.
