I noticed one person said Milkman was set in Ireland and I assume you've counted that under Republic of Ireland. For future reference it's supposed to be in Northern Ireland, if anyone else is reading it.

For The Clockmaker's Daughter, I had it listed as UK, but it should be England (I think). It says "Upper Thames" and the map has the Thames River being mostly in England.

Also, for a new addition, I want to Malaysia with The Night Tiger!

Ah welcome to the oddities of the British Isles! The people on the island are still considered British citizens, but the island itself has different laws. It's the same sort of situation as the Channel Islands, so if Jersey and Guernsey are split out, IoM should be too.

message 109: by Entropia (new)

Entropia | 283 comments just finished Toast za przodków - it's about 3 countries - Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia. It doesn't really make sense to pick one from them as main. But if it's really necessary, I'd say Azerbaijan sounds like most reasonable pick (it has most pages dedicated to it and author lived there for 5 years).

ladymurmur, there is one detailed map that has the Canadian provinces. We can see if it seems like we have a lot of specific locations for Canada and potentially add it later. I'm trying to keep things to one map as much as possible.

The UK map does have Mann on it so I've added that in the same comment as the UK.

SadieReadsAgain (sadiestartsagain) | 452 comments Love this! Though I'm a bit annoyed at
a) how US heavy my list is
b) how little my own country (Scotland/UK) is represented...

I thought I was more diverse than this, and also that I read more Brits than I have so far. I don't know how representative this is of my reading usually, as I've never tracked this before. I'm tempted to at least do this for my 2018 reads too.

USA
California - There There, White Oleander
Alaska - The Great Alone
? - What We Keep
Washington - New Boy
Tennessee - Before We Were Yours
New York - I Loved You All, The Book of Speculation

South America
Argentina - Fever Dream

Europe
Greece - Traveling With Pomegranates: A Mother-Daughter Story
Poland - The Tattooist of Auschwitz

UK

message 126: by Lizzy (new)

Lizzy | 907 comments For the United States, the map is showing that we are only missing:
Arizona
Hawaii
Idaho
Iowa (I did one for Iowa this week)
Kansas
Wyoming

Does anyone have books they are reading for those states?

message 127: by Pam (new)

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 3839 comments Lizzie - I will be reading Epitaph, which is set in AZ.

message 128: by Rachelnyc (new)

Rachelnyc | 943 comments England - Pride and Prejudice

Cuba - Next Year in Havana

Not sure where to place This is How It Always Is. It begins with the family living in Wisconsin, then they move to Seattle, Washington but there is also an extended trip to Thailand.

message 130: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 563 comments This looks great!

I'll add my ATY Challenge books, although they are all fairly common locations:

England -
Shatter
Secrets of a Charmed Life
Sense & Sensibility
The Secrets She Keeps
How to Stop Time
Good Night, Mr. Tom

Ireland -
An Irish Doctor in Peace and at War
An Irish Doctor in Love and at Sea
Chestnut Street

Australia -
Crimson Lake
In the Valley of Blue Gums
The Orchardist's Daughter
Will to Live
Beyond the Orchard
Kimberley Sun
The Book Ninja
The Good Teacher

US -
Virginia - The Passengers
Atlanta - Cop Town
New York - The Woman in the Window
Alaska - The Great Alone

Europe -
Greece - John

I'm not sure about Flight Risk - it's a very global book - starts in Sydney, then the main character goes to...Indonesia (I think), then the States and then somewhere in Africa/Middle East.
