I'm started worrying that all this reading is making me very demanding... so I'm.being very ungenerous with my ratings. getting disillusioned too..
the perils of reading too much.sigh!!

Thanks! None, unfortunately. Have moved into a different city (Hyd), since my 'work from home' has ended, so was trying to setup all basic necessities at my new place.

The blurb is really promising. Looking forward to your review.
Yeah agreed. The more you read the less enamored you are.
it's been a while since I last visited this thread. But I was not reading anything, slowly coming out of it. here is what I read in last month.
Firekeeper's Daughter - I thought this was a ya fantasy because of that cover but it was a crime/thriller and a good one at that. A cohesive story with some good characters.
Lessons In Chemistry - Fantastic book. I loved the characters and story. Struggles of a strong woman who was a scientist and also a single mother in early 1960s in US. Highly recommended. This reminds me of Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, both are different in everything but both books deals with woman with strong characters.
The Reader - Mediocre.
Gods of Jade and Shadow - For me it was good in parts. Hence 3 stars.
We Need to Talk about Kevin - One have to read it to experience the brilliance or disgust, depends on the reader. I find it absolutely enthralling.
Currently reading No Show and Sweetness of Water, both are good so far.

Haha. The summers here are torture. Suffered the summers of 2017, 18, 19, and 20. 2021 was a surprisingly mild summer. This year I moved to a new house surrounded by trees. So I am not feeling the heat this year despite the max. temperature hovering around 38-41 degrees.

City of the Dead Horror.
Brian Keene is my new favorite horror author!
Fevered Star Epic Fantasy
The Corpse Flower Noir/Mystery/Thriller

Summer is almost over in Hyderabad. Came early and about to finish early this year.

Thanks for the suggestion here~

I've just finished reading a great legal thriller called
THE Game of Proof by Tim Vicary. The heroine is superb - mother of 2 even before 20 goes on to become a legal counsel by late 30s
Highly recommended.

appearing here after a long absence. Read a quite a lot but I guess I was in one of those moods when I was anti-social. here are some of the titles that I really liked
The Picture of Dorian Gray - picture really shows the ugliness of human nature.
Am I Normal Yet? - Holly Bourne is fantastic in talking about issues that one shy talking about.
Gerald's Game - King succeeded in giving me nightmares.
The Mountains Sing - All I have ever read about Vietnam war is mostly from American PoV. My first time reading about the war through a Vietnamese. it was mesmerizing.
Honeybee - One of the better LGBTQ book.
The Blue Castle - It deserves its classic status.
Currently in various stages of Great Expectation, Legendborn, Hell Followed With Us. And starting Red, White & Royal Blue, a BR with Bookworm.

Racing through "Erak's Ransom"- the seventh book in the YA/Fantasy series "The Ranger's Apprentice"- would recommend the series till now to any fans of Artemis Fowl/or Rick Riordan's books!! Planning to read all 20+ books in the extended series :-)
Starting on Sir Alex Ferguson's autobiography today!

This by far is the most beautifully horrifying creepy max book I have read!~
I stretched it for a week to enjoy the creepiness part~!
Suggestion: It's clearly not for the faint hearted.
It's very creepy.

I , too , read this book a long time back . It's a lovely classic - a satire on human society ! I may be nominting it for the September BOTM . It'll be lovely if it wins through !
Finished Write My Name Across the Sky today. I found it to be mediocre. Currently reading Kaikeyi and Great Expectation.

This was a short and interesting read after all these years!

We are gonna judge you!! :)

Wow. One of the very few popular books that interested me from 2022. Generally, most recent popular books don't interest me.

Hahaha. Nothing wrong in reading his books. I have his 2 States: The Story of My Marriage on my TBR. Never read any of his books so far.
