@Leena - About Loveless, I liked how the journey about self-discovery about sexuality was depicted. And how the story takes into account the social pressure of accepting the society norms of finding someone, or to think that someone is out there for you, but yeah it is depressing to read if you're not in right mood. :)
Spanish Love Deception is The Hating Game. Again, avoid reading it if you are binge reading romance. But if you're want a break from other genre like mystery/thriller/non-fic, I think it is perfect get away.
I read Last Night at Telegraph Club yesterday, though it was okay but I just could not like it and I am unable to pin down the fact why I found it to be mediocre. Girls couldn't be upfront about the fact that they're lesbians in early 1950s even if it was America, and the affair was hush hush but it just didn't work for me. :/

I understand what you're saying about thw The Last Night..... there are some.books that just needle you.

I'm liking Hamnet so far, might complete it by eod. But, I was not expecting to read about fleas. :D
Btw, anyone interested in BR for Dune this month?
BR Notice Board, for reference, if interested :)

@Leena - This might fit in your Yahtzee challenge, if you fancy the blurb. :)

The truth is I'm on leave and I want to squeeze in Magic Burns as well today (2nd one is KD). 😀

Sorry for the late reply. Somehow slipped out of my radar. I haven't come across many racist books. The only one I can remember now is Subterranean by James Rollins. Some racist things were said about the aborigines of Australia. Objectification of females happens in almost all books these days, often without any context. Happens even in books by women authors. Perhaps to sell more copies.
We the Living is not heavy on philosophy like her other books The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. This is my first Ayn Rand book btw. If you want to know about Soviet Russia around 1922-25, then go for this book. The sufferings of both the bourgeoisie and the poor is heart rending. You will also get to know more about life under the communists in Soviet Russia. The book also has some romance.

No problem.
Yeah, Agreed.
Oh. I haven't read any of Ayn Rand's works actually. I once wanted to read Atlas Shrugged but then it skipped my mind. And now it doesn't intrigue me much. We the living, sounds more accessible. Maybe in the future.
Thanks for the review

Heard strange things (in a good way) about Perfume. Looking forward to your review. :)

I actually wanted to read Atlas Shrugged. I felt attracted to it since it's remotely similar to Kane and Abel, a book I enjoyed reading recently. Building a business empire, meeting the challenges from competitors, strategic investments, rags to riches story etc etc. Except K & A doesn't have the philosophical part and 3 times shorter. It wasn't the right time to read the book due to time constraints and my parents visiting me. Hence I went for We the Living, a much shorter book at 491 pages. Anthem by Ayn Rand is even more shorter. It's only a novella at 105 pages.

@Em/BookWorm: Currently read a few pages of Water for Elephants, I will finish it & update.
Currently browsing through scores of comics/manga/manhwa = )

4*
I'm slightly disappointed with the ending because I had too much expectations. Despite it, the series on the whole was entertaining. Maybe because I like Urban Fantasy/Supernatural too much. Whatever it was, I liked it.
Recommended to all who's even remotely interested in reading the said genres.

Oh and @Em - this is another one of your recs that worked for me. :D
Is Hidden Legacy good? I try not to judge books by covers but really, IA could have had better covers. I have added Julie's spin off to my tbr.
@Nathan - Looking forward to it :)
First trilogy in Hidden Legacy is a favorite of mine. My go to books when i want to read something fun, action, and romance. They're just so good.
Wanted to recommend but then restrained myself. 😌

Restrained? why? :D
And does it have more romance than the KD series?
I have started Blood Hier, trust me, I tried not to. Sigh!

@Leena, Maybe some old mystery like AC or rom-com might be helpful.

I'll just keep adding to my tbr. :D
That’s good.

Noted. Thanks. :)

1. Dune (pifm march). Just started it. Here's the link for the BR Discussion on https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Anyone else who's interested, feel free to join in on the discussion.
2. Malgudi Days - botm

Very entertaining. The first book lays a foundation introducing the magic systems and essential characters. I liked the 2nd and 3rd installment even more.

A Flicker in the Dark
Good, fast paced thriller. Predictable but still enjoyed it.

Started Dark Matter today (as if my brain is not muddled enough after reading Dune).
I had read his Recursion and really liked it.
Around 25% through Dark Matter. It's crazy!! I'm liking it!

I actually liked Recursion more. Most who have read both prefer Dark Matter, I guess.
For me, (view spoiler)
@Nathan - Which one do you like more?

Whatever it is, I would still recommend Dark Matter to all sci-fi readers. It's an entertaining standalone, no doubt.

Do we have a specific "read a book with --" challenge or any readathons for summer or BRs etc? (I joined last oct/nov, so not sure if there are).

I have rated all of them 5/5.
Now reading the fifth book- Sorcerer Of the North. Hoping to finish all 11 in the series soon.

Trudging along.
2. Perfume - another trudging along. Its just a bit much and I'm still figuring out the purpose of this book.
