Please edit or correct or delete this quote. (part 4)

Please attribute the quote to The Great Divide: The Conflict between Washington and Jefferson that Defined a Nation. Thank you.

It's a duplicate of this one:

Thank You.

Done.

Quotes can come from non-authors. However, they must be from notable sources, and that one wasn't. (That is, there are many notable Thomas Whites, but there is no evidence one of them said that.)

1. This is not a Terry Pratchett quote. It was written by editor, reviewer and blogger James Nicoll.
2. The quote is incorrect as well. The full quote:
"The problem with defending the purity of the English language is that English is about as pure as a cribhouse whore. We don't just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and riffle their pockets for new vocabulary."
The Wikipedia link is here:

and it leads to sources to back up the quote, if you need them.
Thanks so much!

Combined with the proper quote which is already on Goodreads and is regularly combined with the inevitable duff versions.

The original posting had "riffle" which would make perfect sense to any UK citizen but Mr Nicoll has confirmed that it should be "rifle".

that reads deceipt be changed to deceit.
Many thanks in advance.

Can you add the book "Shadows of the Empire" to this quote? I forgot to select it after I selected the author.

Can you remove this quote? I added it by mistake.

The first one(with less likes), is the correct phrasing with "Madness". See here: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Beyond_G...

Can someone please edit a quote I just added, in two places? Please change "it's pinnacle" to "its pinnacle" (no apostrophe) and please change "suffer just o much" to "suffer just so much". Thanks! Link here: https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/6826...

This is one of those that needs editing by someone with more access than a librarian. It's almost perfect, but "tellar" should be "teller".

Done, assuming you mean this quote:

Would someone please change the book on this quote to Carry the Ocean. Thanks

I came up with the quote and would like it deleted

Not really. It has been 'liked' and has also been on Goodreads for two and a half years. Does it need editing?
