Thanks, Brenda. You've just reminded me I forgot to read The Prodigal Son before I read the second book, which I'm about to 'review'. I'm another who knew little of the Old Guard and New Guard and the political machinations of the times. I'm loving the series!

Joss (jossdi) | 78 comments Suddenly without a book to read, I discovered some books by Angela Marsons in my Kindle library, that I had bought for my partner to read.
I started at the beginning of the Detective Kim Stone series and I thoroughly enjoyed Silent Scream.

My review is here, I gave it 4 stars

Really liked this one; A tantalizing taste of domestic horror amid everyday family life.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments Lucy Treloar's next book, Wolfe Island will be out in September. I count myself VERY LUCKY to have scored an advance copy from Pan Macmillan Australia. What a talented author! Possibly better than Salt Creek, but a brilliant read, for sure.
5 BIG ★s from me

PattyMacDotComma | 3297 comments I'm really enjoying Aussie author Sulari Gentill's Rowland Sinclair mystery series. Artists, weathy pastoralists, and religious nutters mix it up in A Decline in Prophets in Sydney in the 1930s. Lovely people!

Krystal, I think you had to be there for this series. At the time, I loved it and if I read it now, it would be a big nostalgia trip...

I wonder if that would have made a difference for me or if it's just not my kind of thing. This type of humour has never really appealed to me. Maybe I just missed the boat on it!

Didn't feel like a Stranger Things book. Check out Suspicious Minds by Gwenda Bond instead.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments Best-selling Aussie author, Joy Rhoades has written a sequel to The Woolgrower’s Companion.
The Burnt Country is out 6th August. It can stand alone, but does contain some spoilers for TWC. But why deny yourself the pleasure of reading either of these wonderful doses of Aussie historical fiction?
I loved them both 5★s worth.
