Just finished The Road to Winter by Mark SmithYA, AA, dystopian, 1st in a series. Quite good, if you like that kind of thing. Which I do. The only thing I didn't like was that apparently, even in the future, after the apocalypse . we are still going to be treating asylum seekers like shyte :(. But that is more a reflection on Australia than on the book.
★★★☆
Graphic novels bring the classics to life for the visual generations. Gareth Hinds has a new take on Homer's great story, The Iliad. Historic, artistic, and detailed - for young and old. I enjoyed it!

I really enjoyed Meg Keneally's first solo book, Fled
, a fictionalised account of the life of Mary Bryant, a convict who arrived with the first fleet and later escaped. review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I was a bit nervous about trying the recent Booker Prize winner, Milkman by Irish author Anna Burns, but I loved it! Funny, real, sad, hopeful, all beautifully written.

While I do like to read good literary fiction, my brain can’t cope with a diet of only that, so I freely admit that my bedside read is usually a romance of the “Mills & Boon” variety. Some of those are surprisingly good, and in that category, Her Sister's Baby by Alison Fraser is a 5 ★ read for me. Her female leads are very good at cutting put-downs for arrogant males.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
