What are you doing right now? Part 2
Hi Esther. Hope you are well. Your comment made me think of my own grandmother. She sewed all my dresses when I was a kid. She made my First Communion dress and made my dress for Easter every year. She also knitted and crocheted and made us countless sweaters over the years. She made me a beautiful bedspread as a wedding gift that I still have. Sadly, I never learned to sew or crochet. She had 15 grandchildren and made stuff for all of us. She was always knitting or crocheting something every time we went to visit.

When I was young nobody would teach me to knit because I'm left-handed but aged-18 I stayed with an aunt who knit and taught myself by looking at her.
My grandmother did not have the patience to teach someone, plus she was a perfectionist. My mother told me when she was learning to sew if she did one thing wrong, my grandmother would rip it all out and make her do it again which is why my mother never sewed. Lol. My grandmother did teach me the basics of knitting.

That's lovely Ruth! What a treasure to have that bedspread too!

Lovely to hear from you Esther! I hope your work gets better.
It sounds so comforting with the sewing machine, and even though a new one might work better, it must be nice to feel close to your grandmother while doing it.

If I keep this interest in sewing I will probably get a new machine but the old one will always have a place in my heart.
I’m sorry I haven’t talked to everyone and it’s because I’ve been so busy this summer and I’m going on vacation on August 12th through August 19th with my whole family
Hi everyone, I too have been away from posting but I am hoping to do better. Right now, working on some new poetry and reviving my creativity.
At the moment I'm looking to my next summer leave - but it won't start before the 14th of the month!!!
Be careful everyone. We have had an outbreak of Covid at work and went from 3 cases to 10+ additional cases in a week.

Hi just a quick note :Anyone watching the news will know the shocking events occurring in my country.
We live in the North so at present we are safe and our children managed to get to a safe place.
We are all horrified by events and are worried about the fact that our children (and their partners) maybe called up to reserves (they have already completed their compulsory service).
And it seems the Northern border, where we live, is also 'heating up'.
For obviously reasons I will probably not be posting much in the next few days.

I was thinking about you - and worrying sick. I had also another friend I met here - and also came to see me when she came in Italy. And I'm hoping she's well... so mad this situation

Recently I never seem to have time to post to this group.
There have been changes at work but I haven't even been watching much TV so I have no idea where the time is disappearing!
I have started sewing again, a little bit. A mix of sew and nostalgia as I have got out my grandmother's hand-crank Singer. It is a lovely machine and the whirring of the mechanism is so soothing but if I want to sew much more than a stright seam I need a new machine.
