Speaking of fall/autumn :)

Here is some trivia about fall I have learned that I didn't always know--the first is something I learned earlier this month when checking out sunrise/sunset times, etc.

The "equinox" never falls on the day marked on the calendar and falls on different days in the southern hemisphere than the northern! In the spring it comes earlier than is marked and in the autumn, later. It was Sept 25 this year and wasn't precisely 12 hours of a day everywhere, but the closest to even it will get.

Also, even though we start fall officially on the calendar equinoxs, average temperatures, etc actually put it starting on Sept 1.

Happy New Year to everyone.. I’ve been pretty absent from here because there has been a lot going on. Family secrets that were unearthed after my Mom died, that I am still trying to wrap my brain around. I am also dealing with a mentally ill brother who has end stage liver disease and seems hellbent on drinking himself to death. I hope everyone else is doing okay and I wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year.

That is a whole lot Ruth! I hope things get better - sending warm thoughts your way!

There are mental health and alcohol issues with more than one of my family members too - it's tough when people you love do self-destructive things that there's no way to stop. I love my family very much, but they don't always make things easy. When I was a young adult, I just separated myself and tried to put it out of my mind, but it's harder to do that now that I'm older. I wish so much that they could have more happiness or at least some peace.

Thank you Esther and Greg. My brother has really gone downhill since my mother died. She was his anchor and now that she is gone he has just given up I think. I used to joke with my mother and say I’m going to inherit Steve when you die and that seems to be the case. I’m the one he calls the most. Sadly, there is not much I can do.

Oh no Laura!! I'm glad it was a short day at least!

Things have been sort of falling apart at my work lately with one key engineer retiring and another permanently out for medical reasons. The work load is tremendous!

Just getting over having Covid. Started with cold symptoms and took a home test and it came back positive. We have 12 cases at work now. I think the new variants are more contagious because before this we would have one or more sporadic cases. Thankfully everyone is vaccinated and boosted. I have only had cold symptoms and fatigue. I have done a lot of sleeping the last few days. I am feeling better today. I am thankful that I got all my boosters. This was so much better than the last time I got Covid which was before the vaccines came out.
