McKensie and Lara

James kissed her neck and nodded landing at the grill and nuzzling her "we're here beautiful."
Liv smiled "we can share one..." she assured "I'm not much of a drinker, so you choose."

Emily smiled, landing beside him, her arm around his waist. "Let's go in then, shall we?" She asked, leading them to the doors.
Dem nodded, ordering a light beer and an extra glass. When the waiter had left, he smiled gently. "So. How's it being a doctor?" He asked.

James opened the door and sat at a table around the fire. Different meats hung around and were smoking.
Liv smiled and bit at her thumb nail "it's good...makes avoiding social situations easy, I've never dated had any friends and I like to cut people open..." she sighed "just laying it all out there for you, no surprises."

Emily looked around the place in awe, her eyes travelling over the strange but cool decor and food everywhere. "So I take it this is not a regular restaurant."
Dem laughed softly. "Sounds like quite the profession." He shook his head. "At least I know my sister is in good hands." he said, smiling.

James smirked and shook his head "it's Hell honey, nothing is regular."
Liv smiled feeling amazed that he didn't run the other direction "so...what do you want to do with your life besides being your sister's body guard."

Emily nodded, looking around. "I'm learning that..." She said, smiling a little. "So how does this work then? Do you still order? or...?"
Dem shrugged, leaning back in his chair. "My only life goal for the longest time was just being the best at everything." He said honestly. "But now... I don't really know any more."

James shook his head "get a piece of raw meat and cook it, it's a hands on experience. Oh and it's not all normal meat."
Liv smiled "we had that in common...well, what do you like? What drives you?"

Emily raised an eyebrow, eyeing the meat. "Not normal?" She asked hesitantly. "What do you mean?"
Dem thought for a minute. "I like... I... I don't know." He sighed. "I haven't ever really had time to explore my interests. I grew up protecting my sisters."

James smiled "Dragon meat, manticore, and what not."
Liv pulled him up "let's see if you can dance." She raised a brow and grinned pulling him to the dance floor.

Emily's eyes widened a little. "Isn't that like... cannibalism? If you think you'll be a dragon when you switch?" She asked, worried.
Dem shook his head, about to protest, when she pulled him out of his seat and to the dance floor. He swallowed nervously and laughed. "Ah... I can't dance..." He stammered.

James frowned "never thought of it like that...you can have steak if you want."
Liv smiled "I can't either...let's make people embarrased to be seen by us." She spun in his arms.

Emily nodded. "I think I'll stick to steak. But who knows. I might try something else." She said, smiling.
Dem grinned, twirling her around, and trying to dance beside her. It was awkward, but the most fun he had had in a long time.

James nudged her "I love you...what do you want to drink?"
Liv giggled she was actually smiling and laughing, which is as one thing she didn't do. She held him around his neck "you are right you cannot dance, let's figure out something else."

Emily smiled, "Luv you too." She said, glancing at the menu. "What's magma cocktail? And brimstone beer?" She asked, confused by all these different names.
Dem let his hands rest on her waist as they slow danced around the room. "I don't know. But this here feels right. What do you call it?" He asked, his eyes locked on hers.

James chuckled "brimstone beer tastes like brimstone ripple I suggest you go with that one."
Liv smiled his eyes locked on hers, she was breathless she couldn't even think of a sarcastic answer "um..."

Taylor had stopped crying, wiping her red eyes, and she stumbled out of the house and onto the dark sidewalk, walking slowly. "Zach?" She called, whimpering, "Zach where are you?"
Emily nodded, smiling. She flagged down a waiter and ordered her drink, before looking back at him. "What would you like?"
Dem chuckled then, unable to help himself. "Um?" He repeated. "I'm pretty sure its actually called slow dancing." he teased in a stage whisper.

Damon came home and saw Taylor outside "Taylor?! Honey what are you doing out? It's late."
James smiled "ill have the same, look at you being a hot demon."
Liv smiled "I think I like it...do you like medicine?" She asked trying to avoid the blush on her cheeks and her heart beating so quickly.

Taylor collapsed in her father's arms. "Zach ran away!" She sobbed, shaking. "Now I'll never see him again..."
Emily laughed, shaking her head once the waiter had left. "Demon yes. Hot, no." She said, rolling her eyes.
Dem shrugged. "I suppose. Don't really have the healing gift." He said honestly. "I got water powers if you can believe it." he shook his head, sighing.

Damon held her close and brought her back home "honey? Are you sure he ran away?"
James shook his head "I highly disagree! You are smoking hot!"
Liv smiled "I don't have healing either...mine is violent and yet I still save tiny human lives. So what could you rock at with water?"

Taylor nodded, crying heavily. "Yes! He was talking about it, and now he's gone." She said softly, shaken up badly.
Emily blushed completely red then and shook her head, looking up at him shyly. "You'd be the first to think that." She said, grinning.
Dem smiled. "Really? You'll have to tell me about this power some time." Then he laughed, guiding her back to the table so they could order. "I could be a plumber. What a skill..." He shook his head, rolling his eyes.

Damon held her close "he'll come home...he's not going to leave."
James shook his head "oh no, many eyes are always on you. You are a rare beauty..."
Liv shook her head "water is powerful, you'll find your niche. Remember the chair incident? That's only a small piece...my childhood involved having to defend myself against men."

Taylor sniffled. "What if he doesn't?" She whispered. "What if he never comes back? He promised me... he promised me he wouldn't leave... and he did." She hid her face in Damon's shirt.
Emily blushed brighter and hid her face in her hands, grinning. She peered at him between her fingers and shook her head. "You flatter me too much, Milton." She said.
Dem shrugged. "I suppose eventually..." Then he paused, swallowing, and his face grew serious. "What do you mean?" He asked, not wanting to pry into her past, but he couldn't keep back his curiosity.

Damon held her close and rocked her "shhh I've got you..."
James kissed her through her hands "I love you. It's my job."
Liv sighed and closed her eyes shaking her head "please don't make me tell you Demetri...please..."

When Taylor saw Zach, she sighed in relief, relaxing a little. "He's ok..." Then she bit her lip, a small frown forming on her forehead. "And he left me." She whispered. "If he wakes up, tell him I don't want to speak to him." She said, running up to her room and locking the door.
Emily smiled. "Well you are doing amazing at it." She whispered, lowering her hands as the drinks were brought over.
Dem frowned a little, not liking the distress he heard. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." He promised. "But sometimes its better having someone else who knows." He added, sighing softly. "Take it from someone who knows."

James smiled and sipped at his beer "you haven't picked your meat yet."
Liv sighed and bit her lip "I was kidnapped when I was three, I was a guy's object...my parents never even tried to find me. When I got old he let me go and took another girl...I don't have a childhood, I went to school and focused on that because if I slowed down..." she swallowed "I saved lives so they would have one worth remembering...I was crying in the cafeteria because...Ash reminded me, being that sweet girl..."

Taylor tucked herself under the blankets and tried not to start crying all over again. "I don't want to talk Dad..." She mumbled.
Emily smiled, looking around. "I think I'll start with steak. See how that goes. Then go from there?" She offered. "What about you?"
Dem felt his gut stirr, and then start to boil. He had to remind himself that all this had happened in the past, and it wouldn't help to get angry about it now. "I... I'm so sorry..." he managed to whispered. "That that happened to you... that's horrible."

Damon crawled into bed with her and just held her "I don't need to talk..."
James was grabbing some dark meat and draped it over the flames "manticore, it's my favorite...good smokey flavor."
Liv took his hand "hey, I'm fine. I'm not that girl, I'm a very good doctor and on a date with a really great guy...life is good."

Taylor nodded thankfully and curled tightly against him, still trying not to cry. She felt betrayed, by her best and only friend... lied to, and betrayed.
Emily smiled. "Maybe I'll try some." She said, sectioning off a bit of steak to grill beside his meat. "If I have room after this hunk of cow..." She shook her head.
Dem nodded, smiling then. "You're a strong woman Liv." He said seriously, just as the waiter came over with their food.

Damon rubbed her back and sighed "he didn't do it to hurt you..."
James laughed "you'll have a huge appetite I promise."
Liv smiled and sipped her beer "you are quite different from what I first thought...I'm kind of glad I lost my hamburger."

Taylor winced and closed her eyes tightly. "But he knew it would hurt me if he did it." She whispered, a tear running down her cheek.
Emily grinned. "I hope so." She said, flipping her steak. "Because this is starting to smell really good..."
Dem smiled then, a soft chuckle escaping his throat. "No. I'm not any different really. I just can be nice sometimes... and stubborn and angry others." he admitted, shrugging. "Though I am glad you lost your burger too."

Damon pulled out the note "he wouldn't have left this if he didn't care...obviously he was trying to not hurt you..."
James laughed "I'm glad you aren't a vegetarian or something."
Liv smiled and stole a bite of his food "you know too much about me it's your turn."

Taylor shook her head. "But he still left..." she whispered. "He lied to me. I never thought he would lie to me."
Emily laughed. "That would make this awkward for sure." She said, setting the meat on her plate.
Dem shrugged, scratching the back of his neck. "There not much to tell...." he said honestly.

Damon sighed and held her close "sometimes you lie to protect the ones you love..."
James pecked her cheek and grabbed his meat "all you can eat darling."
Lib rolled her eyes "lies. Just start at the beginning."

Taylor sniffled, shaking her head. "Well this time it just made it hurt worse." She whispered, clutching him. "I don't want to talk about it."
Emily nodded, and started immediately on her piece, cutting off slices and popping them in her mouth. "Man this is good..." She mumbled, swallowing.
Dem huffed softly and picked at his food. "Ok. Well. I was aborted when I was born, and I pieced myself back together. I don't think my family was really ready for a child... so I was forgotten a lot in the early years." He said honestly. "And then growing up... to get attention, I tried to be like my Dad, and be the best at everything."

Damon nodded stroking her hair and holding her close "I love you...and a daddies love is incomprehensible..."
James laughed and fed her a piece of manticore "careful it is really spicy."
Liv blinked amazed at the first part "how did you put yourself together? You obviously have far more ability than just water!"

Taylor smiled then, nodding a little. "I love you too Dad." She said softly.
Emily ate the piece and chewed slowly, swallowing. She looked thoughtful for a moment, and then took a quick sip of water. "Really spicy." She agreed. "But it was good too."
Dem shrugged. "I don't know. I just knew I didn't want to die... and it sort of just happened." He said honestly. "I haven't done anything like that since."

Damon kissed her head "your sister is doing better, she's awake and talking like nothing was ever wrong."
James nodded and grinned "what other meat do you want to try?"
Liv smiled and squeezed his hand "maybe you just haven't found that urge, the passion...I'm sure you are far more powerful than even you know..." she continued to eat her food "so what did James and you do as kids?"

Taylor smiled, "I'm glad." She said softly, biting her lip. She was glad her sister was better, very glad... she just... Taylor shook her head a little and sighed softly.
Emily looked around and pointed to a darker hunk nearby. "What sort of meat is that?"
Dem smiled a little, "Maybe." He said softly. "We'll see." Then he grinned. "We did the best things together. He let me help him build this awesome treehouse in his backyard."

Damon frowned "baby what's wrong?..." he asked softly playing with her strands of hair and rubbing her back.
James looked where she was pointing and chuckled "sea serpant, ever hear of the loch Ness monster?..."
Liv tilted her head not knowing what a tree house was let alone a tree but she smiled still. "So you have two sisters?"

Taylor thought about telling him and then decided not to. "Nothing. I'm alright. Really. I just... I miss Zach." She said honestly, sighing.
Emily's eyes widened. "So you guys like... eat Loch Ness?" She asked, surprised.
Dem nodded, smiling softly. "Yes. Ashlynn and Taylor. Both the cutest little girls you'll ever meet." He said, smiling.

Damon raised a brow "Taylor Anne...what's on your mind, honestly this time. You can't hide much from your old man."
James shrugged "we eat everything and anything..."
Liv smiled "I didn't get to meet Taylor what is she like?"

Taylor bit her lip and hid her face in the blankets. "You guys love Dem and Ash more than me..." She mumbled through the sheets. "And Dem and Ash don't love me at all."
Emily nodded, smiling a little. "Well an interesting diet will help us stay healthy I suppose." She said, shrugging. She sectioned off some of the meat for herself. "Would you like some?"
Dem smiled a little. "A little ball of energy, and light." He said, laughing softly. "Literally. She's always so positive." he shook his head. "Even when Mom and Dad split for a while, leaving us on our own."

Damon felt like he was punched hard in the stomach he picked her up and held her close crying "that isn't true...you are the light of our lives Taylor, Dem adores you! Ashlynn looks up to you and practically worships you Tay...please don't ever think that..."
James nodded "for sure, I need more seafood in my diet!"
Liv frowned "see, you are full of stories Dem, I never would have thought that...what happened?"

Taylor hugged him, not wanting to have made him cry. But she was crying as well. "I'm sorry... I'm sorry..." she mumbled. "I just feel forgotten..."
Emily nodded and smiled, cutting a piece for him as well. "Coming right up." She put them both on the grill.
Dem shrugged. "Mom was bitten by a vamp. It caused issues and they split." he said honestly. "There isn't much there to tell."

Damon kissed her head "honey...never, things have just been so crazy with your sister...you're never forgotten that's why I came home. Dem was going to go home too but he has a date..."
James watched the sizzling neat and inhaled the smoky aroma "mmmm this is going to be good..."
Liv blinked "wait what?! Aye ve...you are so nonchalant about crazy things!"

Taylor paused then, a cheeky grin growing on her features. "Demetri... has a date? Are you sure its my brother you're talking about, and not some other Dem?"
Emily nodded eagerly, watching as the meat slowly cooked, reaching perfection. "Bona petite." She said, setting his chunk in front of him.
Dem shrugged, "It's in the past... so I figured there's not point really stressing over it." He said, shrugging.

Damon laughed and nodded "he looked like someone about to be executed when he left though..."
James didn't even wait till it was cooked down, he ripped off a chunk and chewed happily.
Liv nodded "you're kind of hard on yourself aren't you?"

Taylor smiled, shaking her head. "Poor Dem..." She looked up at her father. "Is she nice? The girl?"
Emily laughed softly. "You like that, don't you?" She asked, putting her own piece on her plate and starting on it. "Hey... this is pretty good!"
Dem looked up, twirling his food on his fork. "What makes you say that?" He asked softly.

Damon nodded "she's the doctor that operated and saved Ash." He showed her a picture of them on his phone before they left for their date.
James nodded, his mouth far too full to even try and speak.
Liv frowned "I didn't mean to upset you..." She tried to consol and shrugged "you take everything on yourself, your sister your parents...you don't know who you are because you have always avoided it thinking that you were never enough...am I close?"
Emily smiled proudly, flapping a little harder. "You think so?" She asked softly.
Dem noticed how what she chose was probably the least expensive on the list. He was thankful for that, and ordered something not too flashy as well. "Feel free to get a nice drink." he added, not wanting her to feel like she had to be cheap.
