Torch shook his head furiously. "Don't talk like that Mae. We're going to get you both out of this." He promised. Anne shot her with a sedative, and got right to work on making the incision in her stomach to slide the child out.
Torch just cradled Mae and tried not to watch, feeling sick with worry.
Taylor tapped his nose. "Wanna bet on that?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. "I wouldn't be so sure..." She grinned mischievously.
Lukas laughed. "Don't think of it like that. The child will just be family. Thinking of it in terms of aunts and uncles and the like just gets too confusing."
Mae felt a pull, like she was detaching from her body. She fought it trying to stay lucid, but she drifted off her head flopping to the back she was losing too much blood.Zach snapped his teeth at her playfully "ill show you! I'm the strong one!"
James shook his head in shock "excited to be a dad?"
Torch felt a tug at his own spirit, and knew hers was leaving. "No Mae..." He patted squeezed her hand, as if trying to hold her here. "Hang on baby, please..." He begged. Anne slid the squalling child out, getting it wiped and wrapped up and into Torch's arms before she stitched up Mae. "Now you can heal her, if you can." She said softly.
Torch nodded and closed his eyes, pouring all his effort into it. He would die if she died, and vice versa, so he did not mind that he would use most of his energy.
Taylor laughed, "Sure you will." She said, leaning back and closing her eyes. She snuggled against him and sighed. "G'night muscle-man."
Lukas nodded, grinning proudly. "pretty excited." he agreed. "It will be something new. an adventure I suppose."
Mae was relieved when his energy pulled her back and connected her to her body, she felt the sharp pain from her incision and her eyes fluttered after a long moment "t-t.." she started trying to gain her senses back.Zach held her close, he pecked her hair and sighed "night firefly..."
James nodded "she delivered London's kid...guess she'll have first hand experience!"
Torch slumped both in relief and exhaustion when Mae started mumbling and he smiled a little. "Morning baby. Glad you're ok." Then he sighed heavily and closed his eyes. Taylor smiled, murmuring something in her sleep. It sounded something like "night.... mr.... " she didnt finish as she fell asleep.
Lukas smiled. "Yes. She knows what shes doing. Im not too worried."
Mae slumped tiredly against him, they both just needed to rest and regain strength but she wanted to see her baby...Zach woke up the next morning and groaned in pain as he had rolled over on his bad side. He sat up and rubbed his eyes yawning.
James smiled and nodded "congrats to you both, have you entwined souls yet?"
Torch stroked her hair gently, weakly moving the baby from his arms to hers. "Rest darling." He whispered. "We all need it." He sighed heavily, and unable to stay awake any longer, drifted off into a deep sleep. Taylor had slept snuggled against him all night, and only woke when he groaned and shifted. She slapped him lightly, not opening her eyes. "Stop moving. I'm trying to use you as a pillow here."
Lukas nodded. "As soon as we found out about the child." He agreed. "It feels wonderful."
"Entwining souls?" Emily repeated, confused.
Make touched the baby and sighed feeling pain and looked at her mother "can y-you hold him..." her hand dropped and she winced closing her eyes.Zach sighed and stopped moving looking down at her.
Ash pounced on Dem on his bed "I slept!"
James nodded "it's marriage I have for demons, you entwine your souls together like a braid and become one."
Anne nodded, scooping up the child from her arms. "Of course." She said gently, rocking the child. Taylor opened one eye and smiled up at him. "How are you feeling today?"
Dem jolted a little, his eyes wide, but when he realized he was not getting hit by a car all over again, just his bubbly little sister, he smiled, hugging her and spinning her around. "That's amazing!"
Emily thought about that for a minute, and then smiled. "Could we do that?" She asked softly, hesitantly.
Mae sighed and watched him "h-he's beautiful..." she was just so tired.Zach sighed "hurts...I had a dream though...my mom died.."
Ash nodded and grinned her cheeks rosy for once "I. Ant read your mind!"
James nodded "yeah, of course..."
Anne smiled gently. "Sleep darling. Your husband was right. You need it." She said seriously. "I'll take care of him."Taylor frowned a little. "That's a horrible dream. I'm sorry you had it." She said seriously, giving him a sympathetic glance.
Dem grinned, ruffling her hair. "I'm so happy for you Ash." He said seriously.
Emily smiled and flung her arms around his neck, kissing his cheek. "Wonderful!" She exclaimed.
Mae smiled "Michael..." she whispered before drifting off leaning into Torch.Zach shook his head "but I don't think it was a dream...I could feel and smell the blood...I don't think it was."
Ash pulled him up "Taylor's sleeping with a boy."
James smiled and held her "wait...now?"
Anne smiled down at the little boy in her arms. "Welcome to the world, Michael Milton."Taylor frowned in worry. "You might have just been smelling your own blood. It is all over the place..." She offered.
Dem immediately frowned. "What?" He asked, protective of his sisters. "What boy?"
Emily smiled softly. "No silly. When we get back to your place." And are alone.
Zach shook his head "she was bleeding out...grandma cut her open and she just...died in my dad's arms..." he shuddered pulling his knees up to his chest.Ash shrugged "Zach, he's hurt or whatever."
James nodded and smiled taking her hand "farewell Lucas!"
Taylor swallowed slowly and very carefully wrapped her arms around him, hugging him. "We can call your parents, if you want. To make sure everything is alright..." She offered. Dem relaxed a little, laughing. "Oh. I see." He said slowly. "I'm going to have to talk to that boy then. Got to make sure you both are safe." He said, smiling at her.
Lukas waved at them as Emily took his hand and took off again, looking around for the portal they had come through.
Zach nodded and sighed "I don't want a sibling if I don't get my mom..." he whispered and took a deep breath "if I wasn't hurt she wouldn't have flew...shed be ok..."Ash rolled her eyes and sighed "he's her boyfriend or whatever."
James flew her up to their bedroom and smiled taking her hands "you are sure...this isn't a simple thing..."
Taylor shook her head, taking his hand. "No. No. It's ok. It's not your fault. We don't even know if she's really hurt, or if she's ok." she tried to assure him. Dem laughed. "I highly doubt that. They're just kids..."
Emily nodded, her heart pounding. "Yes. It's what I want." She assured.
Zach swallowed "let's go ask your mom...I need to know...."Ash shrugged "so?...just cause you dont have obedient mean she can't."
James smiled and looked for a ring in his drawer, he had made it out of twisted gold and a brimstone "it's just temporary...made it when I was ten or whatever .."
Taylor nodded. "Stay here. Ill get my dad to contact them and then ill come back and tell you, ok? You need to rest." She said seriously. Dem raised an eyebrow at her. "Oh look who thinks shes so smart..." he teased.
Emily looked at the ring and smiled, tears flooding her eyes. "James..." she whispered, "its perfect."
Zach sighed and nodded laying back in the pillow and rubbing his shoulder "it's all broken...I was a good flyer!"Ash smirked "I do have a high IQ, like my awesome big brother."
James slipped it on her finger and smiled "will you marry me?..."
Taylor smiled gently at him. "Im sure your dad will fix it when he can." She assured, going to see her father. "Dad? Can you check on the miltons? Zach is worried about them..."Dem grinned, pecking her cheek. "You are too sweet."
Emily smiled, her hand covering her mouth as she nodded, smiling and crying in pure joy.
Damon nodded and kissed her head "of course princess." He flew to the house and blinked at the blood and Anne holding the baby "what..."Ashlynn smiled and pushed at him "don't be a sap. I'm hungry!"
James kissed her forehead, he laced her fingers together and smiled "just breathe...like when I turned you."
Anne looked up at Damon and smiled softly. "They're alright. Just resting." She assured. "Mae needed a C-section."Dem grumbled and got out of bed, flinging her onto his back as he walked down the stairs. "Ok. Let's go get you some breakfast."
Emily nodded, holding onto his hands tightly. She smiled in nervousness and nodded. "Ok. I'm ready."
Damon sighed in relief "z-Zach had a vision...that Mae died. That she bled out...he's been a mess..."Ash squealed and laughed holding on "you need a girl friend!"
James closed his eyes and focused on both of their souls glowing and twisted them feeling her heart in his chest.
Anne sighed softly. "I do believe she did die there for a bit. Torch brought her back." She explained. "I'm sorry to here Zach is faring so poorly. Dem snorted and shook his head. "No way. I like being single." He said seriously. "And don't you dare get any stupid ideas about setting me up. I'm not interested." He sat her down and got out a bowl, milk, and a box of cereal.
Emily gasped, feeling strange, and then nothing but him. It was like he was all around her... like... they were bound together... "I... I can feel you...." She whispered breathlessly.
Damon sighed and looked down at Michael "it's a mini Torch...look at that hair."Ash grinned innocently "I wouldn't do such a thing. But you have no life, you hang out with me for crying out loud!"
James smiled "that's how it works..." he whispered
Anne nodded, smiling down at the baby. "He's quite the cutie." She shook her head. "I'm sure Torch will be just thrilled to have a little him running around." A part of her tone had sarcasm in it. Dem growled playfully and shook his head. "I have a life. It's just not tied up in someone else. If you're knocking our friendship I can disown you." he teased.
Emily sighed happily and leaned her forehead against his chest, just listening to the beat of his heart. "This feels so great...."
Damon chuckled and shook his head "ill take the kid...you can go back to Lukas."Ashlynn rolled her eyes "you need girlfriend. But maybe your too big of a loser to get one." She teased back eating her toast.
James kissed her forehead and nodded "I've never felt so good..."
Anne smiled thankfully. "Thanks a bunch." She said seriously, gently handing the sleeping boy over to him. Dem raised an eyebrow. "Oh really. Now you're going to try and bully me into getting a girl?" He asked, shaking his head. "I don't need one Ash. I've got you." He winked.
Emily nodded, sighing happily. "I love you James. I really do. I hope you know that. Just in case I ever forgot to say it."
Damon nodded and cuddled Michael close to his chest waving her off. He looked up when he saw Torch wake up and smirked "welcome back..." he hadn't seen his friend since he had died.
Ash blew raspberries at him and shook her head, she felt a twang in her head again and whimpered "it's back..."
James smiled and nodded "I know. But ill always love you more."
Torch's eyes widened and he stared. "You're alive!" He exclaimed. "I mean... welcome back!" He said. "I'd come over and say hi, but I'm dead beat."Dem frowned immediately, looking at her in worry. "Are you ok?" He asked.
Emily laughed softly, hugging him tight. "I am so glad of that darling. So glad."
Damon nodded and smiled "I didn't even know that I had died...you saved your wife twice now. I think you need to stop having kids. ."Ash whimpered and shook her head "it hurts..." she felt her body go numb and passed out onto the ground the cereal spilling everywhere.
James kissed her deeply and curled his fingers in her hair "eternity with you..."
Torch nodded, sighing. "Last one. Promise." he said seriously. "I don't think I could go through that again."Dem picked her up quickly, not quite sure what to do. He didn't know of any way he could use his powers to help her. "Ash... please stay with me... baby you have to ignore the thoughts. Try to ignore them."
Emily pulled herself closer and kissed him gently. "It's going to be lovely." She promised, smiling.
Damon nodded "how's Mae doing?..."Zach and Lexi were walking into the kitchen with Taylor, he gasped seeing Dem and Ash. "You should get her to the doctor..."
James kissed her forehead "what about kids?"
Torch looked back at Mae and sighed softly. "She's going to need to recover." He said honestly. Dem nodded, swallowing. "Ill be right back." He said, flying Ashlynn down into the doctor in hell. "Help her please!" He begged, freaking out. ((The doctor could be a girl... ;) ))
Lexi sighed softly, worried about their kids.
Emily flushed a little, chewing on her lip. "Kids?" She kissed his cheek. "I think that would be nice at some point. But would they be safe around me when im still not in control?"
Damon sighed "Zach had a vision...he saw her die.."((You read my mind! That was the plan.))
Liv quickly took the girl and got her to a bed, she took her vitals and did some tests "she had a stroke...get her to an OR." She told her colleagues.
James bit at his lip "this won't last forever..."
Torch sighed softly. "Im sorry he had to see that." He said honestly. "She's ok now, thankfully."((Great mind think alike ;) ))
Dem groaned at the news that she had a stroke. "You have to do something!" He said, gripping his sisters hand. "She has to be ok."
Emily nodded." Which is why we should wait until Im ok again." She advised, kissing his cheek.
Damon nodded and smiled at the little boy gripping his finger "he's a mini you. Zach looks more like Mae."Liv pushed him out of the way and gave him a serious look "you need to stay back, I know what I'm doing. But you are not leaving this waiting room."
James nodded and moved her hair back "we still have school to focus on too. You could work at the hospital in Hell it's very prestigious."
Torch nodded, smiling a little. "Makes me wonder what the kid will be like." he said honestly. "I sure hope he didn't get all my traits. He'll end up in jail before he turns one." he said, huffing. Dem growled softly, not meaning to, but he was protective of his sisters. And Ash needed his protection right now. "Yes I am. So move. I need to make sure she's safe. Make sure she's not alone." Ash would never forgive me if she died alone...
Emily nodded, smiling a little. "That sounds like a good idea. Do they pay well? I need to make enough money to sustain us while you are in school." She said, leaning into his touch.
Damon laughed heartedly and shook his head "Michael, Mae named him Michael. He's a tough little bugger a survivor."Liv's eyes narrowed she wasn't one to be told what to do, especially by hysterical family members. "I will be cutting into her skull and fixing the bleed. I don't think you want to witness that. So you either sit here in your own accord or ill tie you to the damn chair!"
James laughed "darling I am loaded, our family is. They do pay well but it's with gold which is very hard to exchange up here."
"Michael..." He repeated, smiling softly. "What a nice name. Irony that a demon would be named after an angel." He said, laughing lightly. "He'll be quite the kid, that's for sure. By the way. How is your family doing?"Dem's frown only deepened. "You're cutting into her scull?" He repeated softly. "Then there is no way I'm leaving you alone with her." He snapped, pushing passed her. "And there is no way you can make me stay here either."
Emily smiled a little, flushing. "Well then. I guess I'll just be working for the fun of it." She kissed his cheek. "Do demons ever get bored? Having so much time on their hands?"
Damon sighed not wanting to think about what Lexi told him about Ashlynn, his little princess. "Meh, you know that angels and demons are not that different.Liv blocked him yet again and made the chair hold him like it was covered in superglue, she got up in his face "do you want me to save her or not? I won't be able to do that with you there. We've wasted too much time already." She put on her scrub cap and mask heading into the double doors.
James shook his head "not really, too much to do. It doesn't feel like we are alive forever it just feels like a normal lifetime."
Torch laughed. "Do I ever." He agreed. He was a little worried though, about Damon's lack of answer. "Are you ok?" he asked gently. Dem just growled, trying to get up and go after her again, not liking the nerve of this girl. It was his sister they were talking about! When he found he couldn't move from the chair he roared in anger and jerked around. "You witch!" He shouted after her. "I demand to see my sister!"
Emily nodded in understanding. "So you don't ever die then?" She asked, wanting to know more about him and herself now that she was a demon.
Damon swallowed "Ashlynn...is in the hospital, she hasn't been doing well..." He finally spoke biting at his lip "she's just a little girl and they are doing brain surgery..."Liv took deep breaths, she wasn't heartless she was terrified of messing this up, and him watching her every move would not help the situation at all. So she did what she had to do. "Bone saw..." She held out her hand starting the surgery.
James shook his head "no you can die...your flame dies out. I died after donating to London...my mom died giving birth to my brother...it's just not permanent. It's like a dislocation of your soul."
Torch frowned a little, worried. "That's... horrible." He said, "I'm sorry to hear that."Dem stopped struggling eventually, when he was spent from straining and tugging at the chair, trying to get free. He couldn't. That was just the way it was. He wondered what sort of powers the doctor had to be able to glue things in place like that.
Emily nodded slowly, thinking about that. "Then... what happens when you die?" She asked softly. "Do you... just... sleep for a while?"
Damon nodded "thank you, Lexi just doesn't need anymore on her plate right now...Ash is just...if she died our family would never the same, Dem would be destroyed."After a couple of hours, Liv came out "oops I forgot." She snapped her fingers and released him from the chair "be nice or ill glue you to wall next. Your sister is recovery I got the bleeding to stop."
James shrugged "I don't really know..."
Torch nodded, sighing softly. "I hear you." He agreed. "How is Lexi by the way? Recovering from her incident I hope?" he asked, remembering the nightmare of the past couple weeks. Dem glared at her, standing up immediately to try and get away from that horrid chair. "You forgot..." He mumbled. "Of course." He rolled his eyes, arms crossed. He was more than peeved that she had kept him there, and so easily too. "I'm going to go see her then." He said seriously.
Emily nodded, smiling a little. "Alright. I'm just trying to figure out this new life." She said honestly.
Damon sighed "I think she's alright, I just don't remember anything...I was a dog."Liv nodded "she's still sleeping." She sighed "I'm not a bitch by the way, thanks though." She rolled her eyes and left to go check on her other patients.
James nodded "ask whatever you want honey."
Torch raised an eyebrow. "You don't remember anything of what happened at all?" he asked, surprised by that. "Were you told everything that went on?" Dem imitated her mockingly behind her back, still mad, but feeling sort of badly about what he had said. He sighed and walked to Ash's room, his heart clenching when he saw the stitches, and how battered she looked. "Baby girl..." he whispered, walking over to her and taking her hand.
Emily bit her lip. "OK. So when we do have kids... how is that going to work?" She asked "I want to be prepared."
Zach raised a brow "no you wouldn't! If I didn't have a broken wing I'd beat you right now!"
James coughed out the water "so the kid would be...my aunt or uncle?"
