Kathryn | 3569 comments Sounds great! Like MaryG2E, I'm always keen to reduce the TBR - whether it's my official GR TBR or the "unofficial" TBR that I keep in my head and/or on my bookshelves! Some of these on my list aren't on the official TBR, but I own the books, so I need to read them!!

I'm aiming for hard, but will see how I go!

#1. Long time TBR – The Racketeer by John Grisham - 4★
#2. A season in the title – Autumn Manor by Helen Goltz (AA) - 4★
#3. Animal on the cover – Mercy Street by Tess Evans (AA)
#4. Author who uses a pseudonym - Can You Keep A Secret? by Sophie Kinsella - 3★
#5. Bestseller from a genre you don't normally read -
#6. Involving travel – The Amber Trail by M.J. Kelly (AA) - 4★
#7. Published in 2017
#8. By an author from a country you've never visited – Freedom Fighter: One Man's Fight for One Free World by Majed El Shafie - from Egypt - 3★
#9. First of a new series – White Gold by Rachel Amphlett (AA) - currently reading
#10. Wartime novel - The House at the Edge of Night by Catherine Banner - 3.5★

The Racketeer by John Grisham Autumn Manor by Helen Goltz Mercy Street by Tess Evans Can You Keep A Secret? by Sophie Kinsella The Amber Trail by M.J. Kelly Freedom Fighter One Man's Fight for One Free World by Majed El Shafie White Gold (Dan Taylor #1) by Rachel Amphlett The House at the Edge of Night by Catherine Banner

I am further challenged by the fact that I am giving up all means of acquiring books during Lent (except for any Christian fiction/non-fiction) which starts March 1, so I won't be going to the library, buying books (new or used) or entering giveaways for books until after Easter. I have so many physical books piling up, that I think it will be a good period to enjoy some of those, and focus on being content with what I have, rather than simply acquiring more and more!

That's what I thought! It will mean that there will be fewer piles of books lying around because I can then be generous in passing books on, re-gifting, and finding new homes for them any way I can!

Except I just realised that a couple are e-books, so I can't pass them on, but still good to get rid of virtual clutter! Once I've read them, I can put them in a separate folder, so that my unread folder is a little tidier!

Once Easter is finished, I will be going to the library again, probably borrowing a few of the unowned books that are on my challenges - must try not to go too crazy though - I borrowed so many in December/January that I'm only just finishing them up now! Thank goodness for 5 week loans over Christmas and for the ability to renew!

Kathryn | 3569 comments Brenda wrote: "Haha! I have my very own library right here in my house ;)"

Yes - that's what I need to avoid!! I don't have room for any more books, and I only want to keep the books that I might re-read at some point, or that have a special significance for me.

And having too many books to read at once can make me go a bit crazy - I really am better off with only a few at a time!! It's probably worse with library books (the pressure to return them by a certain date), but even the stack of owned and unread books that I've currently accumulated is starting to do my head in a little! It seems like the more I get, the greedier I become for more! So it will be very good to get stuck into them!
