Haha. Same here. I was younger and caught up in the game playing strategy in the book and that possibility just went over my head.

Gerriane (gerri_berri) | 30 comments The Thief (The Queen's Thief, #1) by Megan Whalen Turner

The reason this is one of my favorite books is because Megan Whalen Turner (the author) does a spectacular job of keeping the reader 'in the dark' (so to speak) until the end. Read it and be blown away!

Yes when you have an unreliable narrator(which is punishable by low rating) you can do that.

I personally find all her books you expect the unexpected.... so it's no longer a surprise.

I have to second this! And the sequels are even better.

Not sure what Aaron's point is.

I just finished reading Behind Her Eyes, and even though I knew a surprise twist was coming, and had been trying to guess what it was, I was still blown away by the unexpected ending.

Not only did I NOT see that coming in Ender's Game, I was STILL caught by surprise years later when I read it a second time. I knew it was there, but forgot just how it snuck up on you.

Also, Presumed Innocent by Scott Turow.
