DHASG 2016 Yearly Dangerous Hero Reading Challenge

[Danielle The Book Huntress , Loves 'Em Lethal]

2016 is here and there are new Dangerous Hero horizons to explore. The time has come to set your reading goals for how many dangerous heroes you can invite into your life this year.

It's up to you to define what you consider a dangerous hero. You're doing the challenge, so set it according to your own reading. You're on the honor system for this challenge. You can use any character from the book to count for this challenge, even side characters and villains.

If you're new to the challenge, welcome aboard. Set a goal that you think will challenge you at least a little. You can always go down or up if you need to adjust the level.

If you've participated in the past, try to go even higher this year.

Rules:


1. Any DHASG member can participate in the challenge.
2. Sign up for the challenge on this thread but also on the main group page (you can't sign up on the main challenge page until January 1st):

It will allow you to create a shelf to log your reading.
3. Books must be read between January 1st and December 31st, 2016.
4. A book may only be read/counted once for the challenge.
5. This challenge is dedicated to male/hero characters. This is a dangerous hero group so the yearly challenges are associated with the male dangerous heroes. While we love kickbutt heroines, that is not the theme of this group.

Welcome, Kay. My definition of Dangerous Hero is a hero who is capable of physical violence, can handle himself in dangerous circumstances, doesn't follow society's rules or lives on the edge of society. His concept of courtship may or may not be gentlemanly. He is obsessive, jealous, or possessive about the heroine by nature. He could be an honorable man who holds a dangerous job or a man on the wrong side of the law or who operates outside of the law. He may be morally questionable or amoral.

I think we will all have our own concept of what a dangerous hero is, but that's a wide definition that I would come up with. Does that help?

2. This is a dangerous hero challenge so the hero must be male. This group is dedicated to dangerous heroes, so the yearly challenges always relate to heroes not heroines. Except for the Cover Challenge and the Series Challenge.

I'm done at 121. Way to go, everyone, on another great annual challenge!

P.S. I've noticed that my definition of "dangerous hero" has changed over the course of this challenge, and this year. At first, my dangerous heroes were squarely in the category of "as$h0le" or "rake/rogue" or "assassin" - that is, a romantic lead bad guy. As the year progressed, however, my dangerous heroes became more deadly male heroes, and could be men who were sweethearts on the inside, yet deadly on the outside.

P.S.S. Sorry if my digression is in the wrong message thread...
