Wolf Shifter Mason McNaughton is tired of the crazy feral living in his house, endangering him, his brothers, and his sweet auntie Cora. Ferals are Shifters who’ve reverted to the wild stage, forgetting all about the joys of pizza and satellite TV. Not to mention, Mason is sick of waking up to the feral’s rampages in the bedroom next to his. The feral has been given sanctuary, so Mason can’t throw him out—the only thing to do is to find a way to cure him.

The problem is, Shifter healers—elusive, Goddess-touched Shifters who have the healing gift—are few and far between. Mason volunteers to go in search of one, and is sent to a psychic in New Orleans who might have an idea of where to start looking.

Mason doesn’t believe in psychics, but Jasmine, the psychic in question, seems to at least put on a good show. Jasmine believes in Shifters all right, but she vowed after her Shifter boyfriend dumped her to never have anything to do with them again.

The easiest way to get rid of the growly Lupine, Mason, is to help him, but Jasmine never dreams what that help will drag her into.

A short novel of the Shifters Unbound series.

3.7 Stars - Liked everything about this one...

Book #7.75

I just finished another part in the always interesting Shiftertown's saga. Probably my very favorite m/f shifter romance series by the fab Jennifer Ashley. — I listened to the $2 WSfV audiobook. 6:37 hours narrated by David Brenin. A new voice for me in this series. Five minutes in and I was convinced he is a great one.

And? — I LIKEed everything about this audiobook; the length, the "new" (male) series narrator', the plot, the sweetness and the main characters. Romantic, some light suspense and a great visit to all old friends in Austin Shiftertown. Good to be back there again.

**********************************************

Mason's whole shifter family, two pregnant sisters-in-law and pretty soon new-borne cubs are in danger ... it's a hurry

Wild Things is about Wolf Shifter Mason McNaughton who, when his relatives in Austin Shiftertown needs help to cure a dangerous feral lupine, is sent to New Orleans where he will try to get help from a psychic (human) woman, Jasmine (aka Jazz). They need to immediately find out (in her bowl) were a rare shifter healer, the only one who maybe could save the feral, is staying right now.

Jazz is living in an odd house a bit from town. An old spooky house with "feelings". For example doesn't her house like her (soon to no longer be) boyfriend but surprisingly welcomes a stranger as the gorgeous shifter arriving on a motorbike. — Good start.

 photo imagejpg4_zpsa9bf1369.jpg

‘What lucky Shifter woman would win this man who kissed like fire, had the body of a god, and was a fantastic cook as well? Jazz thought wistfully that the woman would be fortunate indeed.’

**********************************************

The Shifters Unbound series:Wild Things was my eleventh part read or listened to in this series. We always get new couples and new lovestories but as always when reading a series about a bigger bunch of new and already known characters is it most fun (and maybe best) to follow them (here in two different shifter town's) from book to book in order.
"Twenty years ago, shape shifters of all kinds banded together and announced themselves to the world, only to be shunted to areas no human wanted ("Shiftertowns"). — They are forced to wear Collars that control their hunting and fighting instincts (referred to by Shifters as "Taking the Collar")."

I'm always enjoying these books and higly recommend. More or less 4 stars or more for every full length novel so far and a good 3 stars for the shorter in between novellas.

My reviews and raitings:

**********************************************

Truly enjoying as always. — Looking forward to next one and to Zander's own book (#9?).

I LIKE - to be in a Shiftertown in a JA's story

New Orleans. Magic.
A girl who knows for certain that her life is about to change, but she has no idea who is this stranger who will take her away.
Pcychic powers and talking stones.
A house with a strong personality that shallows people who does not like.
A shifter maybe too young to be considered for mating and almost a virgin.
A bit of Alaska and a new character, Zander, who is stealing the show.
(His book will be "Guardian's mate, number 9 in the series-September 2016)

The book felt a bit different compared to the rest of the series, but it was still so enjoyable and romantic!

As a fan of Ashley’s Shifters Unbound series, I was surprised to see I had missed this one. This novella falls between Mate Bond and White Tiger. It is a bridge of sorts that introduces new characters, opens new story lines, and closes a small one that has been running in the background. I loved revisiting Shiftertown and the familiar faces who live there. Fast pacing, a well developed plot line, and the usual dynamic characters drops you right back into this world and takes you on an action-packed, wild adventure filled with humor, angst, romance, and redemption as a man’s rite of passage grants him the chance at a life he never dreamed of.

Wolf shifter Mason McNaughton has to find a rare shifter healer before he ends up dead in his own bed. This leads him to a psychic, Jasmine, rumored to be able to find anyone. As Mason and Jasmine search for the healer, a romance blooms between the reluctant couple, and offers them the chance of a lifetime if they are brave enough to take it.

It took me three days to finish this short story, and that right there is telling. Cute, sweet, bland, disjointed story. It felt like out-takes from other stories thrown together. Still really like this series; but this was nothing special, just average.

A good entry in the series, just didn't wow me. However, ZANDER!!! He is my new book BF. Loved him and yea that his story is next!! For some reason he reminds me of J R Ward's Lassiter.

Sweet Romance But It's The Shifter Info Given that Is Really Good

FINAL DECISION: Enjoyable with a less experienced Shifter male and a woman who has tried to find love in the wrong places. This novella expands readers knowledge of what is going on in the Shifter universe. Sweet and fun.

THE STORY: Mason McNaughton is a wolf shifter (youngest brother of Broderick from BAD WOLF) is tired of the feral feline living in his house driving him crazy and sometimes trying to kill him. He decides to help search for a cure which leads him to a psychic in New Orleans Jasmine Samuelson. Mason doesn't believe in psychics but Jasmine is known for finding people and Mason needs her help to find the elusive Guardian healers who might be able to turn the feral back from his madness. Jasmine finds Mason sexy but she has had bad luck with men including a shifter who broke her heart before.

OPINION: This romance is sweeter and less intense than others in the series as this short novella has a lot of plot to get in. That being said, I enjoyed seeing Mason who is somewhat younger and more inexperienced than the typical Shifter in this series fall in love. Mason is really sweet even as he says that Shifters are wild and dangerous. The connection between Jasmine and Mason is quick and there is little conflict between them except for Jasmine's wariness because of her past. I enjoyed this book especially because of the return glimpses of some of my favorite Shifters. This is not that deep of a book, but it is enjoyable and expands the Shifter universe.

WORTH MENTIONING: Lots of cameos from series favorites! There are lots of cubs arriving soon!

CONNECTED BOOKS: WILD THINGS is book number 7.75 in the Shifters Unbound series. It can be read as a standalone EXCEPT a reader has to understand a bit about the Shifters because it is not explained here.

STAR RATING: I give this book 4 stars.

Mason the wolf and Jasmine the psychic.
Mason is used to being the bottom of the pack in his over-full house. But he can't keep his mouth shut after Alec, his unwelcome house mate, almost kills him in his sleep. Alec, the almost feral shifter is long past control and a danger to everyone including his mate and unborn cub.
So Mason goes on a quest to find an almost mythical person; a shifter healer. There are only 3 known and nobody knows where they are. So Bree suggests Mason consult a psychic she knows.
Mason is pretty skeptical about veracity of psychics (and this coming from someone who believes in the Goddess and changes into a wolf at will??!!). But Jasmine's house soon proves to him that he has a lot to learn!
Crazy circumstances lead Jasmine and Mason on a cross country journey to find the healer, to save Alec and Mason's aunt.
Mason was a great character. Not long past his transition, he's pretty young compared to past Heroes in this series. But you're never too young to find love. I was a little skeptical of Jasmine myself, I mean magic stones and sage smoke? Seriously?? But I still enjoyed her character and how she slowly sees Mason for the awesome guy he is and not through her prejudice against shifters. He too has to overcome his prejudice against human women.
Loved the MCs! Still don't like Alec or his dingbat mate, but oh well.
The reader, David Brenin, was excellent as always.

Three and a half stars really.

An enjoyable novella about Mason, Broderick's younger brother who consults a psychic who can help him find a mysterious shifter healer who *might* be able to heal his brother-in-law (sort of) from turning totally feral and being put down.

The problem with novellas is that because they often sit outside the story arc they don't have the same urgency and sense of purpose as the main novels. However, I hope that part of the reason for this novella was (maybe) to introduce Jasmine (the psychic) who will play a part in the main story arc and also the healer?

Anyway, if you like the series, or like novellas about shifters you will enjoy this novella but (at present) I don't see it was crucial to the wider story arc.

This one is a bridge between the previous books and the direction the series is headed. It doesn't quite have the same punch as Mate Bond, which absolutely gutted me, but I really did enjoy it. The series as a whole has some pretty good world building, the mythology of shifters is unique, there hot shifter sex, and the characters are mostly just flat out nice and often adorable. Seriously, there is a 10 year old polar bear cub, what more can you ask for? And this story nicely ties a few things up, and opens the series up with a brand new integral character, so I figure the story arc is about to heat up.

As for this particular couple Mason hasn't really featured much so far, and Jasmine is a brand new character, so it was a little hard to get a bead on them at first. But I adored Mason, he's more Beta than most of the heroes in this series, in a completely delightful way...he's just...scrumptious is the word I think I am looking for. Jasmine was almost a little too good to be true, but it didn't push her into the dislike-able eye rolling category, so it worked in this short format that there weren't too many thorns to get through. And with her skills it will be interesting to see how she impacts the shifters and their long range goals.

They one thing I guess to warn for readers who aren't familiar with this series is that this series is filled with fated mates, and this one is no exception. So heads up if that isn't your things, but in the context of the world building fated mates make sense. And this particular couple are so sweet together I think they didn't need a longer book. It's a good quick read, and I am super excited that we get another story next month and then another in September. It looks like it is going to be a hell of a year in the Shifters Unbound series, and I find myself excited. This may be just the thing to get me out of my slump.

~ 3.5 Wild Stars ~

Wild Things is a novella in the Shifters Unbound series by Jennifer Ashley.

I do enjoy the novellas in this series. They are fun, cute, sweet, quick and enjoyable. The author does a great job outlining the world and how things work, that you don't feel like you are missing much. I also like the glimpses of previous couples and the hints of who could be next to get a romance in the series.

As for Mason and Jasmine, they where ok. Their romance in and of itself is quick. These two must work together to find a rare shifter healer. Even if you skip this novella you will still get to meet the shifter healer in White Tiger and the shifter healer will also have his own story in book #9 Guardian's Mate.

I do have to say I loved Jasmine's haunted house. The house rocked. Kinda wish we had more of this house.

This series has good world building, the mythology of shifters is unique, and the characters are adorable. If you have not tried this series yet, you should. It's got a verity of shifters for everyone to fall in love with plus each book brings something new to the table. I can't wait for more.

Wolf shifter Mason McNaughton's fed up with his brother's feral feline in-law and will go to any length to either fix him so he's suitable to live in the family home or hell, there isn't an or! He has fix him or his brother, the alpha, will not only never forgive him, he might 'fix' him to ease his mate's pain. To that end, Mason's off in the big bad world to find a healer to cure Aleck's 'feral-ity.'

The last thing psychic Jasmine Samuelson wanted was another shifter in her life. Too bad her best friend was mated to one. Jasmine told herself and others didn't dislike shifters, she didn't trust them. One had left her broken hearted and in a currently not so great relationship and she suffered from loneliness every waking hour. That was fine by Mason. He only met her because he promised Bree.

Distrust was in the air as the pair circled each other and exchanged enough information for Jazz to begin the reading. A visitor spurred things along and circumstances put Jazz on the back of Mason's motorcycle accompanying him on his quest to find the healer in the middle of the night.

This was not a steamy, sexy romance but it was very sweet and Mason and Jazz accented each other well. Though the majority of the read wasn't in the Austin shifter-town, it also wasn't a high adventure road trip and while the pair was cute together and had a degree of chemistry this reader wanted much more.

Bookending the read were welcome but brief visits to the Austin shifter-town with cameo's of some of this reader's favorite characters. Brief glimpses of Mason were present in earlier outings but this short gave his would be fan base a chance to settle in and drool at this smoldering, taciturn, boy-next door sexy shifter.

This short novel focuses on Wolf Shifter Mason McNaughton, the younger brother of Broderick McNaughton from Bad Wolf. The outcome of that book -- Joanne's sister's mate going feral -- is basically the main problem in this one, as Mason needs to team-up with a female psychic (Jasmine) to search for Shifter Healer.

Now, the romance for me was so-so. It was pretty much quick attraction to the whole mating-bond thing. Definitely not memorable ... then again, I also knew what I was getting into. Jennifer Ashley didn't really offer a new formula in this series. Mason and Jasmine were okay, but the truth was, I totally loved Jasmine's haunted house much better. Seriously, that house rocked my socks off!

However, Wild Things did give me more glimpse of Shifter Healer, who will get his own story in book #9. I was lucky enough to be able to read the ARC of White Tiger (book #8) and I totally liked what I saw so far of this character. Hopefully his would be one of the better stories for me.

Wild Things is another novella in the Shifters Unbound series. This one features Mason, a wolf that just wants the crazy feral living in his house to get well. To do that he has to find a special healer. Apparently there is a psychic who can help in New Orleans and Mason is sent to her to see what information he can find out.

This was a great installment. We are introduced to some very interesting characters. Jasmine is kind of eccentric. Just a little. She has been involved with a shifter before and it turned out badly so she is definitely trying to squash those feelings of attraction she has for Mason. Jasmine's home certainly makes its feelings about a shifter being there quite obvious!

Jasmine and Mason go on quite the adventure hunting down this healer. When they find him, he is certainly NOT what they expected. You will love him. I do. He makes a great addition to this series. Although his time in the Austin shiftertown almost comes to a dangerous end. We also get another little surprise concerning a certain cub.

Wild Things was a really fun ride. Great characters and this was perfect for the introduction and relationships of certain characters. I really enjoyed it!

A short one but a good one!(though of cause I wanted more) I don't usually like the shorter ones as I feel like there isn't enough in them but I really enjoyed Mason's Story! For a younger shifter he was quite mature and I loved his relationship with Jazz.
Loved, loved, loved the snippets we saw of Tiger, who is my fave of the series, and previously mentioned characters.
Healing feral shifters and the introduction of Zander is exciting for the series!
Looking forward to White Tiger, this series just keeps getting better and better for me!

Not one of the best in the series as it was hard to remember Mason from the series and it didn't help that he was a bit too cocky for me at the start. Jasmine was a bit better, it was fun to see her put up with Mason's distrust of her abilities.

The quest they went on was a bit boring until they found their person, who was actually crazy. Even as the job got done I wondered and hoped that Olaf would get to see this new person. Turns out a cute polar bear can soothe any raging beast!

3 stars -I liked this well enough, but there really wasn't enough to make the H stand out from the rest of the past shifter H's -I am very hero centric- the story was short though. There were enough quirks with the h and her house, and the shifter healer, that the story part of the story was okay - even if the romance was sort of by the numbers. Hopefully, it's not that I've read so many shape shifter stories in the past ten years that I'm reaching the saturation point with my beloved PNR.

I normally love the Shifter's Unbound stories and I did love this story, but I really, really didn't like Mason. Mason is the younger brother of Broderick and is going nuts in their house with all the people now living there, including a feral feline, Aleck. Aleck is getting worse and worse and when he attacks Mason and then Aunt Cora, it's just a matter of time before they have to put him down. But with a pregnant mate (who is Broderick's mate's sister) they are trying to figure out all options. The options are basically to find a healer who doesn't want to be found. To get started, Mason travels to New Orleans to consult with a psychic named Jasmine, who may be able to help him locate the shifter healer. Jasmine was awesome and the story itself was really interesting. Mason was very immature and impulsive and was not a likable character - he took away from the story in my view. In addition to Jazz, I also really liked Moncrieff!

The Gist: Mason... needs to find a reclusive healer in order to save a shifter gone feral. And he's gonna have to trust a psychic to make that happen. Lord help him as he faces off against her and her crazy man eating --literally-- house

It's a quickie but was good. I liked both Mason (youngest of his wolf brothers) and Jasmine (a human psychic). They're good people who try to do what's right. I enjoyed watching them meet and team up as they went on the hunt. They're both resilient and determined. And cute together. A bit of steam and adventure made for a good time.

Mason is the youngest brother of Broderick from Bad Wolf. He was almost killed by the uncollared shifter they took into their home who's rapidly going feral. He decided to look for one of the reclusive shifter healers to hopefully cure the feral. Bree from Lion Eyes told Mason to seek help from her psychic friend Jasmine who's good at locating people.

Being the youngest of four brothers, Mason is used to being overruled and overlooked whilst Jasmine has stayed in her grandmother's weirdly sentient house all her life. Both lonely in their own ways. So together, Mason and Jasmine went on a road trip not only to find that reclusive healer but is a journey of discovery for themselves as well. Another well-matched couple.

Oh my gosh, so amazing. This is by far one of the best stories I've read this year. A sexy psychic and a wolf shifter seeking help with crystals and sage, house that "eat" evil ex-boyfriends, motorcycle rides, sex scenes filled with lust AND love. Mason and Jasmine were amazing together. Mason is a wolf shifter who makes guitars--already hot, right? Jasmine is a tattooed psychic with a house that ate her douche-bag ex-boyfriend. As soon as they meet--sparks! I just . . .this book was so perfect I don't think I could make it any better. I don't think I want to.
