Born into a prominent ranching family and brought up in a disciplined household, Sheriff Jared Monroe has high standards of how to live his life and he doesn’t hesitate to hold the people around him to the same accountability.

Misty Foster is a girl from the wrong side of the tracks. Her mother slept her way through the men in town and everyone thinks Misty has followed in her mother’s footsteps. If they knew the truth they’d be more than shocked.

One blustery, snowy night Jared and Misty do something completely uncharacteristic—they throw caution to the wind and fan the flames of their passion. Now there’s a third person to consider. An innocent baby is on the way and when Jared finds out, he instantly steps forward to do the right thing. Unfortunately, Misty doesn’t agree with his future plans.

What’s a no nonsense sheriff to do now that he’s met his match?

My Thoughts
A hero falling over himself to take care of a pregnant heroine. Sign me up. Loved this book and Jared. I really liked how he stood up for Misty. I don't understand why small towns act like that, blaming kids for their parents mistake. I'm a sucker for a besotted hero who doesn't understand thats he's falling in love. Great read from a great series that always delivers the best.

The next book in the Cowboy Justice Association series features Sheriff Jared Monroe as he struggles with work, family, and relationships.

The good: the family relationships, including the new relationship between Misty and Jared's father, which is so sweet. Misty and Jared are a good couple, at least after he stops trying to control her.

The not-so-good: The suspense part of the plot, which seems almost like an afterthought and doesn't integrate well with the family/romance story line. Also, the overbearing people who are still insulting Misty because her mom was apparently the "town slut."

Overall, this is a good book, though it's not quite up to the standards of the rest of the series.

Sheriff Jared Monroe and artist Misty Foster are opposites in just about every way possible. Jared is the middle son of a prominent, well-respected ranching family and Misty’s mother was a drug and alcohol addicted single mom, who made poor choices where men were concerned. Jared is used to a regimented, structured life, where he is in charge and Misty is used to taking care of herself and doesn’t take orders from anyone. Misty is on the verge of realizing her dream of moving to Seattle, and leaving behind the narrow-minded townspeople who judge her based on her mom’s lifestyle. However, a brief encounter that results in an unexpected pregnancy, brings Misty and Jared together and puts Misty’s plans on indefinite hold. I loved both Misty and Jared. Sure, he’s bossy and thinks his way is always the right way, but Misty is no doormat and calls Jared on his high handed behavior. I thought their romance and the way their relationship developed and evolved was very entertaining and believeable. Jared is a very experienced older man, and Misty was pretty innocent when they first got together, but she’s a quick study and the sex scenes are pretty hot! Their honest approach to their relationship appealed to me, since I’m not a big fan of conflict in relationships due to miscommunication. That definitely could have happened in this book, but it is to Olivia Jaymes’ credit that she chose a different path for these characters.

Gerald Monroe, Jared’s father, has just been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s when the story begins. My mom and grandmother have/had Alzheimer’s, and I appreciated the way Olivia handled the struggles the entire Monroe family was facing with this devastating disease.

The Cowboy Justice Association falls in the Romantic Suspense category, so while Jared and Misty are building their relationship, Jared and his team of deputies, along with a little help from his friends of the CJA, are trying to find a killer. The suspense/ mystery in Imperfect Justice didn’t really work for me. I guess I should say that it worked up to a point, but ultimately fell flat. That hasn’t been the case in the rest of the series, but in this book it just felt disjointed and off. I knew something was going to happen, and when it did, I just couldn’t buy into it completely.

There are some wonderful new characters introduced in this book, and I am so hoping Olivia will write their stories. I adored Jared’s brother Ty and would love to see more of him. I love a man with a sense of humor and Ty had me laughing out loud. Misty’s BFF Rayne, a tattoo artist, definitely has potential for an interesting book–I can’t wait to read it!

Last of the "first" Cowboy Justice Association series about 6 Southern Montana sheriffs and the ladies who conquer them. Jared Monroe is the prince of a wealthy ranching family and has his pick of women. He is brash and always right - not the temperament or setup for a relationship. Along comes Misty Foster, the daughter of the town tramp. (That's what they call her - and worse). It's unseemly for the prince to be consorting with such a person, with one problem. She happens to be a talented artist, with a heart of gold and a helpful word and hand for anyone who needs it.

She has had enough of Fielding and wants to move to Seattle where the art scene is conducive to her. She arrives back in town one cold night and finds the sheriff waiting outside in the cold, drunk and apparently impervious to the wind. She drives him home and he is stunned by how much he likes her.

A few more chance meetings and the two are finding themselves mutually attracted, while seeing warning signs everywhere. Good one, with an HEA and an ending for the original group. More stories to come - and new sheriffs to replace the old - Evan, Dare, Knox and possibly Sam Taylor. Jaymes is writing those, we hear.

I just finished reading the sixth book in the series. Each book it's better than the last. I'll be sorry to see this series end but Olivia Jaymes had impressed me so much that I will read more of her work. If you love the sexy, protective alpha who loves with the biggest heart, I recommend the Cowboy Justice Association series.

Growing up in a town with her mother as the town whore, never knowing her father and not having friends wasn't easy. In fact, the best way to deal with it is to leave. Kind-hearted Misty Foster can't wait to put Fielding in her rearview. Straight arrow Sheriff Jared Monroe's mulling how to share the news of his father's failing health while the family's still grieving over his mother's death a month ago.

Misty and Jared exchange favors when they help each other through minor tribbles during her last month in town. Misty's afraid that being seen spending time with her will ruin Jared's reputation and undermine his effectiveness as the sheriff, based on her experience with the town gossips and her own reputation. Jared's surprised but refuses to let that stand in the way of friendship or neighborly favors.

When their secret friendship is made public the unhappy, gossiping biddies have plenty of fodder. 'Mantrap Misty' seducing the poor sheriff, he's only a man, and a fake pregnancy to boot!' Coping with family issues, impeding fatherhood, a serious romance has Jared's plate overflowing.

Added to that is the most elusive criminal he's ever faced is loose and nearby making his vow of vengeance against Fielding's finest seems to perhaps have enough truth to cause big problems. Plus he's as elusive as ever. Now a murder! Misty's plate is overflowing as well since Jared's her second boyfriend, she feels the need to change her own plans and she now has his family looking out for her.

Jared and Misty had great chemistry and a great relationship, they proved to be very complex individually and as a couple figuring it out. The other relationships and characters complemented the leads and the story. They were exactly to this readers taste with no slack and an ending full of promise. There was just enough everything to make this a favorite read.

Good story under trash

Too bad this could have been a good book. A good writer doesn't need to write explicit sexual details to sell. I wish I had known the true content. I wouldn't have read a single word. I guess some people need to get their jollies reading garbage instead of enjoying real life. Glad I'm not one of them. I wish Amazon has a better rating system, based on sexual content. Other services do.

I received this book as a gift and I didn't know it's book 6! Hehe.

But thank god the story did not confusing and it starts off from the beginning instead of continuing the book before. I liked Jared's character along with Misty. But I don't think the foundation of this book alone (I can't speak for the previous because I haven't read them) is strong enough. Misty's clearly not a floozy girl, yet I didn't really feel her real self. Plus, Jared hesitates a lot in this book and that's kind of.. well, annoying.

But overall, I enjoyed this book. Maybe I didn't really get the chemistry because I haven't read the entire series. I'll do that sometime soon.

Sweet romance with a small town sheriff and a woman from the wrong side of the tracks

I picked up this book as a freebie and, though I’d never heard of the author, I decided to give a it a go, as I like a good small town sheriff story. It’s in the middle of a series about small town sheriff’s but it’s completely standalone with only small references to previous characters and books.

I enjoyed the book. It was about Jared, the town sheriff, who is the middle child, raised by a stern disciplinarian father. He is all about controlling the situation and coming out on top. He’s also a really good guy who wants to do the best by his town and his loved ones, he just sometimes thinks that he knows what that best is better than anyone else. He meets 25 year old Misty on the day he finds out about his father’s illness and for once in his 39 years he decided to get drunk.

Misty is passing by on a freezing cold night as he sits on an ice cold bench waiting for a taxi. Misty is a good girl who was born to the town’s “bad girl”. Misty practically raised herself because her mother spent a great deal of time drinking and sleeping around. Because of her mother, Misty has shared in her reputation, despite being quiet and retiring. As someone used to caring for others before herself, she stops to give Jared a lift.

Misty plans on leaving her small town for big city living to get away from all the rumours and awful attitude towards her. When she drops off the drunk Jared and he kisses her, she leaves immediately before anything can progress. Her best friend Rayne tells her to live a little, so the next time they meet Misty decides to give in to her attraction to Jared, because is she isn’t there, the rumours won’t bother her.

The story of Misty and Jared is a sweet and slow journey towards learning to understand themselves as well as each other. It’s a good reflection of how any relationship goes through bumps in the road as they learn to get along, when they learn to draw a line in the sand as to what they will accept and won’t.

Alongside the slowly developing romance there is the work that a sheriff does, include dealing with a family of habitual criminals who make life hard for the people around them. The crime solving part of the book was also a slow and steady journey with no excess of excitement or adventure.

I liked this book, but it wasn’t the most exciting book I’ve read. The romance was sweet, the sex scenes weren’t graphic or too explicit and the crime wasn’t too scary. I think for a certain state of mind this is a great book, as it is comforting without being boring.

Olivia Jaymes knows how to bring on the action and the sizzle!

Imperfect Justice, book six in Olivia Jaymes' Cowboy Justice Association, is not your Grandma's Western Romance! No, Olivia Jaymes has captured the contemporary cowboy lawmen's world perfectly and created another slightly flawed, hunky alpha hero to keep the peace in rural Montana. Olivia lights a match on another sizzling romance by pairing no nonsense Sherrif Jared Monroe with Misty Foster, a woman who has spent a lifetime trying to live down her mother's fast and furious reputation. Misty is not your damsel in distress, heroine, and has no intentions of conforming to any standards but her own. Jared adheres to his own strict code of ethics. The two of them together are like when two super novas collide...FIREWORKS EXPLODE!

Interspersed with the sizzling romance, Olivia Jaymes sprinkles in action and suspense as Jared's quiet little town is disrupted by murder and mayhem. Just when I thought I figured out who the villain was, Olivia throws a twist or two into the story and completely flummoxed me with the ending! Yet, that is what makes the Cowboy Justice Association series such a must-read and Olivia Jaymes such a beloved author!

All the characters from the previous books return in this edition of the series. Jared and Misty receive their happily ever after as all their friends before them have. Each book is complete with no cliffhangers, but I would encourage you to read them in order to get the full flavor of Olivia Jaymes as an author and the Cowboy Justice Association series cast members.

I highly recommend Imperfect Justice to everyone who enjoys hunky heroes and strong heroines.

A Sheriff and an artist

Misty had a rough childhood with an alcoholic mother and no friends. She is a painter and is about to move to Seattle. She is driving home and sees a man sitting on a bench in front of a bar, in freezing weather. Jared is the Sheriff and after his father wrecked his atv, he learns he has Alzheimer’s. Misty takes him home and they kiss but Misty leaves. Jared gives her a ride home after her car breaks down and the weather turns bad so he stays. They have a one night stand because she’s leaving and nothing will change her mind. Until she gets pregnant and Jared wants to do the right thing and marry her. Misty wants marriage to a man who loves her but does move in with Jared. They slowly fall in love. Jared has found someone who won’t let him boss them around and Misty found someone who doesn’t care about what the town thinks of her.
Great story with sex, action, and suspense. I love the characters and the storyline. A story you can get lost in.

Too cliche for my taste...

I read stories like this before but better. The romantic suspense was more like sexual suspense. However chapters can we fit sex scenes into without worrying about actual dialogue. Not to mention I honestly did not like Misty or Jared. She was an insecure brat and he was a bossy older man. Sure the point was they are suppose to complete each other. But where there was suppose to be romance instead you found lust and more lust which does not equate to love. This story dragged on and the suspense was obvious. Also what happened to editing??!! Lastly why if a woman is aroused do authors feel the need to name it something like “honey”?? Not to mention why did you need to add a scene like a 50 Shades of Grey moment. Label it accordingly erotic suspense not romantic suspense because was no romance whatsoever. A few “heartfelt” just don’t do it!!!!

Learning to compromise.

I’ve really enjoyed this series. All the handsome, alpha lawmen and the women who love them. Jared is sheriff of Feilding Montana. Misty is the daughter of the deceased town whore. She never felt welcome and couldn’t wait to move to Seattle for her art to get away from the gossip in town. But one snowy night after picking up Jared after he had too much to drink changed everything. An unexpected pregnancy, murder, suspense, Alzheimer’s, disrespectful towns people, controlling alpha male lead, attempted murder and so much more kept me turning pages. Although I can’t say that I enjoyed the ending of this one, I really liked the series and this will be an author I continue to follow.

Great

Jared was Sheriff of Fielding and middle son, but nice his dad got sick things have been rough. They have diagnosed his dad with Alzheimer's and they don't know how to tell him. So he decides to go out & get drunk. While waiting in front for his can be gets picked by a lovely lady. Misty has everything set up in Seattle to start anew. She is driving back to her apartment in Fielding when she see a guy sitting in a bench outside in the cold so she offers him a ride. The beginning of something beautiful.

Cute addition to the series

I really enjoy this series. The author does a great job blending romance and suspense in her novels. Imperfect Justice is a good example of this.

Theage gap relationship between Misty and Jared started out as fun but lead to something so much more. Jared was patient and jumped into this new development with both feet. Misty took a little bit but it's understandable as she didn't have the easiest upbringing.

The sheriff meets his angel

Excellent read. There is mystery. Intrigue, and romance. The story is well written with a plot that twists and curls. It is a stand alone book in a series with characters that are interwoven from previous and future books. Even if you haven't read the previous books you will not be left out as the author makes sure the plot is the focus and the main characters are the story. This book deserves 5 stars plus.

You lost me with the used “marital aids” in his sex cabin. Gross!!!! I skipped through the next chapter and almost didn’t finish the book. Used the same stuff on her as everyone else. Really? That whole mild bdsm is really over used by this author. Every book. I’m really bored of the inexperienced female and the older manwhore. There’s nothing wrong with a woman having a healthy normal sex life.

Imperfectly perfect!

I have loved every bit of Misty and Jarreds journey. I have loved this series and found it sad at the end and the end of their lawman group. The only downside to this story was the lack of inclusion of the others. Unlike the previous 5, the friends helped each other out, this did not happen with Jarred. I'm looking forward to what comes next and would happily recommend this series.

♥️♥️ I love this series.
Having read them out of order it’s like coming home again when story lines all mash together, the new with the old.
Misty and Jared were perfect together and I loved watching them fall in love. I’m even happier that I’m going to see more of them in the new spin off series coming soon.

Sex, love and a bundle of joy

Jared Monroe, respected Sheriff, dedicated son and brother, mature man around town. Misty, daughter of a wild and promiscuous mother in the same hometown that she has been bullied and shamed her whole life. She's just about to escape this depressing situation, take her popular artwork and escape. But one wild night will change everything for the two of them. The sheriff who wants to do right by Misty and Misty who has no experience in the way of families will now have to figure it out. Finding their way through dysfunctional families, revenge seeking crazies and well meaning friends, and some not so well meaning citizens, this story twists and turns, and finds it's way right into your heart.

Great storyline!

Loved these characters and the situation you started them in. Misty is such a caring young woman who has put up with too much crap, from others, in her own town. Jared is a hard ass sheriff, has a dysfunctional family, great friends, & a great heart to love someone. Great sexy situations, too. You surprised me at the tattoo shop. 😯
Enjoy this great read! 📚🎉❤️🌻

Wow!

The first five books in this series were amazing, but Jared and Misty’s story is one of the most romantic books I have ever read. Olivia Jaymes is a fantastic writer and I’m going to make sure I read every book she has ever written!
