It's the best gift ever. I loved every second of it.

Brenda | 2434 comments Something has changed here at Goodreads. I no longer am getting daily email digests of Friend updates and A Good Thriller posts or email about comments. I've checked my settings, and they seem to be right where I want them. If I've missed anyone's review or not answered a comment, I'm sorry!

That happens to me all the time and then when I realize it I look up in discussions what I've missed and then I start get updates again until it happens again.

ET Canada has learned that Carrie Fisher suffered a heart attack on a plane on Friday. Todd Fisher, Carrie’s brother, has since shared the actor’s condition. “There really is not much to say. She is in the intensive care unit, she is being well looked after.

Jason E. Fort (fortress23) | 154 comments How's it going everyone? Been very busy and away for a while. Lots of things going on with Fortress Books...started my own Christian radio show, started two writing projects, released my fifth novel, AND has some interesting developments in my day job as police departments go. But anyway, Happy New YEAR everyone!

Am I the only one having problems with the Goodreads website? It keeps crashing.

message 9026: by Paula (new)

Paula Adams (goodreadscompadams57) | 1590 comments I've been having pro.blems with Goodreads all day, Kirsten. Keeps telling me to try again later. I usually refresh the page and it's okay.

I've been having problems since yesterday. I suspect it's because of the New Year and more traffic than usual. That's what I put it down to anyway.

Lorrea - WhatChaReadin'? (whatchatreadin) I had the same troubles online and through the app. when I finally got to get on, the 2017 reading challenge was up, so I suppose they were getting that all together.

Ter'e Crow Lindsay (terecrow) | 798 comments My Hubs and I have gotten totally hooked on the History Channel, "The Vikings".
We have gone back and started watching the very beginning of Season 1.
Do we have any other fans???? My gosh........the actors are simply unbelievable.

This is one of my favorite shows as well. I am a Christian, but I find the relationship between Christianity and the Norse religion very intriguing. Ragnar is one tough character, and Floki is the morbid comic relief.

message 9035: by Ter'e (new)

Ter'e Crow Lindsay (terecrow) | 798 comments OMGosh.....we love Floki. Ragnar's character is unbelievable. Ivar has become a terrific favorite, with those expressive eyes. We are just glued to the series and the abilities of these actors, both male and female.
Normally I cannot watch anything bloody.......but I have no problem with this superb series.
Now I need to do some Viking reading. I know I would love the books.

message 9036: by Jason E. (new)

Jason E. Fort (fortress23) | 154 comments Might I recommend Bernard Cornwell? He is known for his books about a man named Uhtred; supposedly one of the real Ragnar's sons out of wedlock.

message 9038: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale I didn't get to do much for my birthday. Beyond it being on Friday the 13th this year, the entire damn town was shut down due to an ice storm that actually wasn't as bad as it had been predicted...compared to the ice storm we had Thanksgiving weekend in 2006... . That one brrought down power lines all over the region. Messy as hell.

Two days off sick, woke up Thursday morning feelin awful with diarrhoea and sickness, so sick my stomach was hurting, did not eat all day, sugars went from 11.3 to 4.2.

Then this morning sugars 7.8 but had nor eaten anything since last night.

Today very dizzy, got up to hang washing up, the next thing found myself on the floor, dizzy and fell don't remember falling out all !

On Wednesday I was playing tennis feeling fine.

This diabetes has a lot to do with it.

Most of the last two days I have read, or watched films and made sure I have rested and drank loads of water. Ate a little today.

Hopefully better tomorrow, I hope

message 9042: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Diabetes is a cast iron bitch to live with, Sean, even when you're younger.

message 9043: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) I would think it would be especially hard for children. At least, I know I have diabetes because I'm overweight - something I did to myself. But children, that's got to be tough.

message 9044: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Not so much if you were born with it, because it's your version of normal, Kirsten.

message 9045: by Paula (new)

Paula Adams (goodreadscompadams57) | 1590 comments Hope you feel better soon. Diabetes runs in my mothers side of the family. So far none of the 5 of us kids (we are all in our 50's) have had it. We must have inherited my dad's genes, which means we all have high blood pressure except me. I have low blood pressure.

message 9046: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments It's a sneaky, nasty disease

message 9047: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale As long as I remember to not seriously fuck up by doing something stupid like skipping a meal, I should be fine, Kristen. Re: high blood pressure: "Been there, done that, got the (bleeping) t-shirt," as my parents used to say.

Reasonably back to normal, two days of a bad stomach effected the sugars.
