Thanks Pat,

Trying my best.

Although also trying to keep busy.

So emptying my kitchen, they start on Wednesday.

Taken out 22 boxes of stuff, so much to clear out, food, cutlery, crockery, glasses, pans, etc....

Garden still not finished but not much work today, too wet and raining heavy.

message 9107: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale How are you and your wife gonna manage the food while the kitchen's being remodeled, Sean?

message 9108: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) protein bars and pop tarts?

message 9109: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale I don't think Jersey and the UK even HAVE PopTarts, Kirsten.

My wife has prepared a lot of home made soups, stews, Spaghetti Bolognaise, which we had tonight.

Having a microwave moved into the lounge.

And Big freeze in garage loaded with meals.

Kitchen emptied completely on Wednesday, Thursday, plastered on Friday, then started fitting on Monday.

Some days, night might go our for a cheap meal.

A slow process but exciting at the same time, but patience in not my thing, sadly.

But have to control my stress levels with a DVT moving about, and also control my blood sugars.

Also find it harder when I cannot get out too much, told to rest more at the moment and that's hard.

And yes we have a collection of boxes of protein bars, fruit, and stuff in boxes all over our lounge.

Same as my garden 6 weeks now and still not finished. Enjoy every day something is done, today only cleared rubbish and tools no more, frustrating.

I know in the end in will all be nice, and I hope I am all fit to enjoy it all !

Your wife is a treaure to have prepared ahead so many meals. I need to consider this as a way to take an at-home vacation! And, yes, slow down a bit. I have found the work will wait for your return - garden fairies never show up when they're needed!

My wife was off with me yesterday and went out for lunch...

The noise was driving me crazy !!

Drilling new holes for electric, drilling the floor...

Today Friday we have in the house

2 electrician's

1 plumber

2 plasterers

outside 3 gardeners, still working on the garden.

In the last week

had

4 Ultrasounds

2 CT Scans

1 MRI Scan

5 x Rays

Seen 2 Specialists and my own doctor.

Today another consultant this afternoon for damage to right elbow(through tennis) left shoulder and arm(through tennis).

Next week consultant for my bloods.

Consultant for my diabetes.

Off work also next week.

With the stress of the kitchen, the garden and trying to find anything in all the 28-30 boxes.

At least I have finally watched nearly the whole first series of The Vikings, read my Simon Kernick book in 3-4 days.

And watched the Dubai tennis everyday, Murray in a fantastic match yesterday

Paula Adams (goodreadscompadams57) | 1590 comments I'm having a tough time right now. My youngest brother's fiancee died almost 2 weeks ago. This past Saturday my favorite Uncle passed away, he was only 6 years older than me. I found out my Aunt Mary has liver cancer and is refusing to have any treatments. And this morning my sister called and her husband has cancer again. My sister is a basket case. When it rains it pours. It also has affected my reading. I'm 8 books behind and I'm not keeing up with my reviews. Don't feel like eating either.

Paula Adams (goodreadscompadams57) | 1590 comments Thank you Pat. Yes it is. It's even worse when you are all alone too. My husband is away on business. I'm in FL and my sister lives in VA so we have to console each other over the phone. My brother is in MA. It's like our family motto is "if it wasn't for bad luck we'd have no luck at all."

Latest on my health.

After nine days on blood thinners, I finally was able to see the blood consultant(he had been away, only one in Jersey).

He confirmed my blood clot was in my/behind my left know.

Was !!

Yes, sadly and shockingly told seven years after recovering from my last lot of DVT and PE.

I have a blood clot in my lung ...PE.

So off work at least another two weeks, changed my blood thinners to four a day !! Feeling cold !!

Must walk very slowly and carefully, not allow myself to get out of breath or stressed.

Difficult when you have worked in everyday making a lot of noise.

Trying my best to slow down and read, a little work in the garden.

Feel okay in myself, other than the shock !

Missing my tennis and snooker!

NOT missing work !!

Thanks everyone it means a lot.

In my head I feel okay, but get very upset and frustrated and also a little depressed as trying to control so many things at once.

On new tablets for my blood thinning 4 a day.

On new tablets for my diabetes, and trying to keep sugars low while I cannot do much.

Trying to work with 3-6 different workers in the house, and keep tidying when they have left.

Going to Physiotherapy three times a week for treatment for my lower back (arthritis in my faucet joints causing tight back muscles) on my right elbow and treatment on my left shoulder which is much better.

Same time some of the blood thinners are causing massive and painful heartburn all the time, and the blood clots in my lungs making my chest feel like I am having a heart attack all the time..

So depressing...

Especially as I was playing tennis two weeks ago...

Has been confirmed it is a "unprovoked dvt"....(no cancers/tumours)

But the good news, can read more, can request more books...

Can catch up on The Vikings(watch two series in a week)

Can see my kitchen coming on, and my garden is nearly finished....

Sorry for going on, at home alone feeling depressed !

But I am strong and will fight back !

This week we transported two different patients who were recovering from PE surgery. And both were feeling much better with clots removed. The prognosis for both the man and woman was excellent, so keep your eyes on those tennis courts.
