Janet,

I would definitely send a complaint. If they came out to fix it once and it is still having the problem, they should be out there to fix it right away.

I wanted to kick my air conditioning until this weekend, we went to turn it on for the first time and the only thing that came out was hot air, so hot in fact the vents were hot to the touch. We just had the thermostat replaced and some work done to the outside unit in January, so WTF?? Apparently whoever did the work only connected the heat wires and not the air....luckily we were able to get it fixed quickly.

Omg! That could have been so dangerous. Idiots for sending out not properly trained engineers. I think I will complain, see where it takes me.

Thanks for listening to me rant! :-D

message 8153: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Does engineer mean something different in England? In the States we have technicians or repairmen. Engineers design things. They don't do the actual work.

Amber Martingale Janet wrote: "My washing machine is out of action again. Had to wait 5 days for an engineer to come fix it. Got it fixed. Second load of laundry and it has broken down again. Aarrgh! Have to wait two days before..."

At least you HAVE a washer and drier, Janet. My apartment complex doesn't and the closest laundromat doesn't have a water heater so I can't use hot water for anything that needs hot water. The next closest laundromat is right next door to my pharmacy which is a nearly hour long WALK away since I don't have a driver's license or a car!

I'd call them a repairman if they'd actually repaired anything! Semantics and all that! Call centre man said engineer. I don't care enough. Fix the problem, man, woman, a person that knows what they're doing!

Crikey, Amber, that does sound crap.

message 8157: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Yep. And the next closest laundromat after that is nearly as long a walk towards my old apartment on 27th St and W. Main. After that one, there's a small laundromat at the rental office...at 6900 W. Main St.

12 miles round trip and with my cart no longer able to close I can't take my cart on the busses.

Go for the compliant !

Service is very important thing for us the customer, and we pay for it.

We want a service and we should get it.

You can bet, I would complain. Lay the facts out, keep emotion out of it, be firm but not a PITA!

I love Pottery Barn.......but had to send them two notes about a recent transaction. They lied to me twice. Overcharged me on my items and then charged me, full tilt, for shipping. After placing the order........and getting a confirmation.........I knew the $$$$$ was wrong. I called then and I called again when they shipped my item.
Their pat answer????? Glitches.........and oh yeh, they know there are glitches!!!! Did that stop them for not correcting the dollar amount???? Noooooooooo, they didn't. I turned around and sent them an email with the facts. Today I got three replies!
I'll sit back for a few days ---- Show Me the Money!!!!!
Grrrrrrrrrrr

Absolutely! The problem is all these websites all want to be friendly for tablet users or some such. I use GR 99.5% of the time at home sitting down on my notebook. Also, if we could personalize our experience, I wouldn't mind. But the new one doesn't allow you to have the overview of the group discussions latest activity. So I am going to stay on the old one until they drag me away.

Pretty is as pretty does. Not sure what it means, but seems appropriate.

I went into Manchester for an early pre theatre dinner on Saturday then watched King Lear. Then I went for a swim yesterday, which I always enjoy when the weather is hot. The pool was almost empty as everyone was out sunning themselves and taking advantage of the good weather while it lasts. :)

As many of you know from the "serious" thread.

My Mum is very unwell, and I am now leaving for the UK tomorrow morning to try to make it in time, staying till Wednesday night.

My mum has seen a priest on Friday, and been given the last rites on Monday.

I will arrive tomorrow lunchtime.
