Even the Democrats can be idiots

True, but they aren't as idiotic as the Republicans. It was a Republican who made that comment about "legitimate rape" back in 2012, for example. A Democrat would probably have known better and kept his (or her) mouth shut.It was also a Republican who told Pope Francis I to "leave science to the scientists," disregarding the fact that he has a doctorate in chemistry... .
I haven't been on here very much lately. My husband and I decided to have an adventure and move. We live in a small town, about 3,000 people, north of Sioux Falls, SD. Sioux Falls is our big city in South Dakota of about 200,000 people. So, we are moving to the big city but trying to declutter our home and downsize. We also want a place where the snow removal and lawn mowing are taken care of for us. I've got to say we have ssooo much stuff it is overwhelming at times but we are eager to have more things available to us in the city without having to drive 25 miles to get home.
I had some friends sell the home they've lived in for decades, and raised their kids in, to move into a complex where everything is cared for by maintenance. They seem to really like it, I hope you do, too, Pat.I did the exact opposite.
Pat,M O V E is a wicked four letter word!!!!! LOL. Especially if you are in your 60's. Adventure???? That's one way to put it.
My hubs ( our two dogs and parrot) moved from Central FL to the KC, MO area in late December. It probably would have been a great move had we not decided to totally refurb the house we bought.
It is now the first of May and we are still painting and making repairs!!!!! It will, basically, be a new house once we finish.
The UP side????? We totally love living in the midwest. Love living close to our kids/grands. Love love love the little house we bought and love how we are totally transforming this tired little house that sat empty for two years. At this point, I am trying to decide what I can live without. Keeping the best of the best of my "treasures" and giving my kids and GW the rest. It's amazing - it's like going to the mall and shopping for goodies.........but I am shopping thru my own goodies. New house? Looks like new decor.
Best thing we ever did - and the most exhausting. I can't wait to be finished where we can enjoy the fruit of our intense labor. You go girl. You only live once. Spice up your life. Best of luck to you!!!!
I'll go back to bed and will be humming la la la la la!!!!!Great music to paint by, David.
La la la la la
Thx

I have participated in this program in my community for over 5 years. Also selling on eBay or one of those other app based sites has worked well for us when we moved our grandparents from their home to the assisted living community.

Hubby is ok with mowing but snow has become an issue. Too much outside work and want to not be so responsible for it.

We are in our mid 60's and if we don't do this soon, we never will! We are tougher than we look but I've only got one of these adventures in me. I was asked by the POD people if we wanted extra insurance on the contents of our POD. I told him if it all went up in flames, I don't think I would mind!

Thanks Sean and yes, it is exhausting.
Very cool video, David! Pat, good luck with the sorting, packing, etc. It's a lot of work, right Ter'e?
Jean wrote: "Oh, Pat! Are you two doing all this work yourselves, or do you have help?"It's just us. Hence the adventure part. Our daughter and son-in-law work in a floral nursery and landscaping so this is their busy season. I hired a couple of the teenage boys in the neighborhood to help lift some heavy items but the rest is up to us. What doesn't kill us will make us strong!.
I know most of my friends here are from the U.K. or the U.S. I do not know if the massive fire in Fort McMurray has made any headlines internationally. I am certainly safe here in Ontario many, many miles away from the raging fire. I am currently saddened for the community in Alberta. CBC radio reporting 16,000 homes completely lost to the fire, 88, 000 people displaced and under mandatory evacuation and Alberta declaring a state of Emergency. I simply cannot wrap my head around those numbers. I also could not wrap my thoughts around how quickly the fire overtook the city. There is really not much I could do from here as I listened to first person accounts of the fear and loss people are facing there. Other than pray and put out positive thoughts for all those affected. Then I thought...well, I can tell all my friends at GoodReads and maybe they can send out some good energy too. It certainly cannot hurt!So many stories in the headlines over the past year highlight the importance of appreciating every moment and the people you love. Wishing all those in Fort McMurray and across the globe a safe night tonight and a better day tomorrow.

In today's age we can see reports and the news gas been covering this all week and yet I still find it hard to imagine.
I'm at camp for the summer Yay! Anyway, just wanted to let people know that my signal is spotty here. So I'll try my best to list books read etc., but most likely won't be talking a lot. (Like I do usually lol) Otto is so happy to be here, he had me playing fetch for a couple hours today. Now I am moving a bit slow from the pain after tossing the ball so many times.

I keep dreaming someone will just up and decide to give me a Tiny House. :) I've got my heart set, but no coin in the pocket.
Re: the Canadian wildfire: Yeah, I'm hearing about it on NPR, Heather. How many of these have you guys heard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWfVv... (watchmojo.com's Top 10 Weird Al Parodies)?
I lived in Fort McMurray for almost six years, working in the oil sands. I am devastated for the tragedy this community is facing. It is a wonderful place regardless of rumours of it not being a great city and community. So many of my friends are displaced and have lost so much. Many are settled now as best they can but so many unknowns for the future.
From what I have heard Fort McMurray and the reaction of the communities surrounding it in reaction to this crisis show me that it IS a great city and community. https://www.thedodo.com/airlines-let-...
It's so true, Kirsten! Families of all ages. It's a wonderful community. Engineering of the city leaves something to be desired, but the false perception of some Canadians that it is just a rich, oil city, full of drugs and drug abusers, couldn't be farther from the truth. One can find that in any place. It's a wonderful place and it's an awful, awful disaster.

Hi all! Just wondering if anyone has the new Kindle Oasis and if so what they think of it?
Had my paperwhite for years now and whilst I still love it, possibly thinking of an upgrade.
Is it worth it? Thanks in advance!

I've looked at it but only replaced my Paperwhite last year. To be honest the extra features don't seem to warrant the exorbitant cost. It's like Amazon have produced a premium product for the sheer hell of it. If you get one, let me know if it does laundry and ironing and a whole load of other chores!! ;-)
Lol Janet!! ;)
I've come to same conclusion after watching several reviews and video comparisons.
Maybe the Voyage Might be a better upgrade?

Amazon will give you some money off if you trade in your old kindle when you purchase the new.

Use the chat feature and tell them your problems and whatever. I got a really good deal on a new Kindle Fire. It also depends on your needs and uses.
I use my Kindle for all sorts of things: audiobooks, music, magazines, etc. But if it's just books they do have some budget Kindles or you could buy a refurbished one.
Yes......
No work for two weeks, yes off work, hols....

Great interview with Joe Hill, author of the new book The Fireman, this morning on NPR!http://www.npr.org/2016/05/22/4788409...
One week off and finished decorating 2 bedrooms, just a second coat on the woodwork, but look so much fresher.
Plus as I move everything back, clean wash down, polish.
Looks so much better, but tired.
Lots of long walks and lots of tennis.
More tired when I am off work, as always so much to door.
Added 62 Cd's to my music on I tunes as well.
