Ter'e Crow Lindsay (terecrow) | 798 comments Our "new" house is being painted, as we speak. We bought this house in Dec and it was the most horrible shade of baby poop pea green. Ewwwwww. Hated it.
New color is Chelsea Gray with Elephant Skin for accent. It is looking so,pretty. Had to convince hubs in painting the garage doors. Best decision yet!
Next up????? Planting our Japanese Maple, setting the fountain up and planting some colorful smaller shrubs. We tore everything out - the old bushes- two weeks ago. I have been dying to replant.

On another note......had carpal tunnel surg a week and a half ago on my right hand. (Insert cussing). 6 days later, we walked into a little boutique, and my foot got caught on the rug they had at the door to catch wet, muddy feet. Down I went.......bloodied my knee in two places.......and landed on my palm. I very nearly shocked the clerk with my language..........but checked my mouth just in time!
OW. Have really been trying ro take it easy, in hopes this dang hand will be ok.
I used to say I was tough..........now I say I am OLD!

Jean | 2387 comments Poor Ter'e! Maybe you need to get your dogs trained to be helper dogs so you can get around without injuring yourself! But it's good to know that your projects are still getting done. You are a woman on a mission!

It sounds like you've had a run of bad luck Tere but at least you're getting the house sorted and you'll feel so much better once it's all done. You've just brought back a (lovely) memory of all those green baby poops - yuck! It makes me glad my baby days are behind me.

Ter'e

You have had a busy and rough time lately.

Sometimes I say I am young and fit, sometimes I feel like an old bugger.

Although always hectic, so I guess an active mind, although my mind is always saying "yes I can do it", but body sometimes says "Oh no please".....lol

message 8112: by Aymen (new)

Aymen Ben cheikh A funny thing happened at work, a woman (we re both head of unit) told me : your problem is that you are too modest.
I looked at her so she said I mean... it s a good thing...
I new that she meant that I was friend with the employee and workers and that I don t mind helping in work...
I didn t care I already knew the way she thinks, I went to pray in our small prayer room, when I left a worker called me and gave me some traditional perfume he said : you are a good person.
So I thanked him, and went back to work smiling, knowing that I won't change anything about myself.

message 8113: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) It sounds like you work with a good bunch of people. Also, it's like that ripple thing... if you put out good ripples, you get good ripples back. And vice versa is true too.

Good for you, Aymen. :)

message 8115: by Aymen (new)

Aymen Ben cheikh thanks Janet, I agree Kirsten. I won't make it to the top there are too many sacrifices to make, but I can have a good position and be myself and do what I think is right, many people don't understand that. the goal of my life is being happy, not being wealthier of having more power than others to show them I m better. the only things that make us better than others are our actions and human values.

We need more people like you, Aymen. Too many people want power or wealth or both...

message 8117: by Aymen (new)

Even tho I have been absent for quite awaile.......I knew many months ago what a good man you were (are). You ring true thru your posts.

I agree, we need more people like you. There is a saying........"you don't mind getting your hands dirty".........I call that commendable........ I mean this in the kindest way..........keep on keeping on.

message 8119: by Jean (new)

Jean | 2387 comments Aymen, I have always appreciated managers and supervisors who are willing to pitch in and help out when their employees are behind, overwhelmed, or just need some extra help. It's good to know that the person above you on the ladder understands the job, because you know that he/she will better appreciate the work you do. People DO appreciate that!

message 8122: by Ter'e (new)

Ter'e Crow Lindsay (terecrow) | 798 comments Yes Jean.......I totally agree.
Patience is not my virtue. Those last months, living in FL, feeling like hell and trying to sell our house just about did me in.
I am so thankful to have all that behind us - and to be living close to our kids - that I can't stand it.
I love the midwest people. Living in FL, fulltime, was a stretch. Especially for me........I am a laid back Cali girl..........I don't like living around ..........well, just let's say, I didn't enjoy living in FL. BEautiful home or not. It was just a house.
So much happier in the midwest.......in our home we are turning into a dollhouse. The kids and grands definitely love this one......and love having us here.......even tho I make them remove their shoes!!!!!
This move was a win-win situation.
Now to paint two more rooms and find "honey" a pt job!!!!!
Then everyone will be happy. Its good for him and good for me too.
I can turn to HOOKING!!!!!

I am glad you got out of Florida. I wish I could. I grew up in Michigan, spent a lot of time in Texas. Even in Texas I could experience the change of seasons and even get a snow day once in a while. I find the heat in Florida oppressing. I hate living half the year wondering if the next hurricane is going to hit me. If I could get out of here I believe I would move to the north Georgia mountains. I have found peace up in the Blue Ridge.

message 8127: by Ter'e (new)

Ter'e Crow Lindsay (terecrow) | 798 comments Michael,
It starts with sincere desire.
Then we called our psychic (of 20 yrs). We tell him nothing. HE told us it would happen 13-14 mos was our timeframe. I prayed he was wrong. Lou is never wrong.
Then I read thru The Secret again. I wanted it to happen on MY timeframe. Well, it happened on a Higher Powers timeframe.
Living in FL was so terribly depressing........and oppressive, as you mentioned.
Our last year in FL really took me down. Now I am happy, joined WW and am working hard to regain my health. My head and heart are so much happier.
I look forward to every day!!!!! That is a huge change.
Take some time, every day, and work towards your goal. If it is meant to be, it will happen.
I pray it does.........

message 8128: by Ter'e (new)

Ter'e Crow Lindsay (terecrow) | 798 comments Oh gosh.........I am not some quack. I have had three psychics in my lifetime. My husband was a non-believer, from the word go. You know the type, macho, executive, engineer........blah blah blah.....
And then a psychic told me about David before I met him. The moment we met, we knew whatever happened was going to be lasting.
We just celebrated 36 years on the 24th. He took on me, a dog, and three kids!!!!!!
Lou is a psychic in FL. We have never met. We have spoken to him, maybe 25 times. David has quided my husband thru so many business deals, jobs, life in general........and now, even he is a true believer. We laugh when he tells us something off the wall, as we know it will happen.
Anyone else a true believer in their psychic?????? Or not?

message 8129: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) I've never talked with a psychic. I believe in psychic powers. But also have a healthy skepticism.

Up 5.00 am Saturday, today to do our usual Jewellery stall.

Weather cold at 7.00 a.m then got hotter, went from 11 C to 23 C.

8 Hours !! Get ready made a profit of £33.00

Very frustrating, very boring, but read quite a bit of my book, Jack Jordan book, My Girl.

But so much hard work for nothing!

message 8131: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Do you think it was the weather that made people stay away from your stall, Sean?

message 8132: by Sean, Moderator (new)

Sean Peters | 10540 comments Mod
Many people, many stall(22 stalls)

But we find people are not spending so much, except on the sausage (home made) rolls stall and the cider stalls.

Yes drinking and eating, also the French come over to Jersey, and never spend.

This year every week has been bad.

Ter'e Crow Lindsay (terecrow) | 798 comments Sean.......so sorry to hear you had a mediocre day. I think people are holding onto their $$$ a bit more. Today was just not your day......next time will be better.........let's hope.

Sonya......and your friends first name?

On 6/2 I have a dear cousin undergoing surgery for pancreatic cancer. Roxy underwent gastric bypass about 7 years ago and has steadily had problems. From what she tells me........there are not alot of hospitals in Central FL that deal with a person with her particular circumstances. Once Roxy reached 104# and just got so frail, they started a feeding tube. She has picked up 6#, but is still pretty frail. Those of you who wish to offer up prayers for her.......and Sonya's friend, I would sure be appreciative. Roxy remains at the very top of my prayer list........
Thank you.
(Sean, I hope this post is ok)

My washing machine is out of action again. Had to wait 5 days for an engineer to come fix it. Got it fixed. Second load of laundry and it has broken down again. Aarrgh! Have to wait two days before I can even book another repair. *still screaming*

Not that old. About 4 years I think, maybe more. I've got insurance cover but frustrating having to wait for an engineer to be sent out. Last time it was a wire trapped in the pump. This time it's flashing a code at me and refusing to shift it's ass into gear. Maybe I should kick.... though I'd probably damage myself more than her ladyship!!

message 8141: by Jean (new)

Jean | 2387 comments "Her Ladyship"! Love it! Don't injure yourself, Janet! Just use a bit of "creative language" instead!

Washing machine update. Called insurance company on sunday. They boast about having a 365 day call centre.... and can't get me an engineer out till.... wait for it.... next monday??!!!!! I hit the roof!! Asked call centre man why when I'm paying so much money per month for cover (effectively enough to buy a new appliance every year) can they not get an engineer out sooner?! A family of six generates a fair bit of washing and they had already been out previously and supposedly fixed it. He had no good answer, if anything agreed with my rant! Not that I'm blaming him per se. Higher up the chain are the ones that need a good ear bashing! Insurance companies; so quick to take your money, drag heels when help is required... Grrrrr.

Anyway was so incensed sent hubby out to buy another washing machine today. A more basic model at a good price and really happy with it for now. At least it's washing! Will use this as a backup to the other one.

Not happy with the service though. Wondering if I should write an email of complaint?

message 8150: by Jean (last edited May 31, 2016 07:41AM) (new)

Jean | 2387 comments I think I'd be complaining to anyone and everyone at this point. Heard a similar story about a major US airline from my niece yesterday. Nothing works as well as it used to, and many places do not have good customer service. There are exceptions, of course, and we should all spread the word when we happily discover them, because those companies need and deserve our business. Good luck with the new machine!
