Nancy H | 1111 comments Hi Ashley,
Here are your picks. If you don't see any you like, please let me know and I can give you more picks. There were lots of interesting ones on your TBR!

Top 40: The Girl on the Train - Not a love triangle, which I see you hate, but more of a dysfunctional mess of relationships that keeps you turning pages (sort of like watching a train wreck happen) - a book I couldn't put down that is currently popular Sempre: Redemption - on your TBR, more than 4 stars

Country: Devil in Spurs and Texas Destiny and/or Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off - three westerns

Classic Rock: Yours Affectionately, Jane Austen - sort of related to a classic; Here be Dragons - originally published in 1985

Classical: A Curious Beginning - not exactly a romance per se, but a GREAT main character who is way ahead of her time; Body & Soul - among the ones on your list from longer than a year ago

Indie: Julia's Chocolates - one of my all-time favorites because it is so refreshingly different; What Doesn't Kill Us - definitely an indie publisher and what a book (I happen to know this author, and her story, which is all true, just blows me away!)

Blues: Saint Anything- emotional; Suddenly One Summer and Outlander - blue on the covers

Alternative Rock: Where'd You Go, Bernadette - new to you genre (and sort of hard to categorize, although it is really good); Size 12 and Ready to Rock (Heather was a rock star at one time) and Backstage Pass - definitely sizzling rock stars

Techno: Betrayal in Death (or whichever of hers is next on your list in that series, since I see that you like those); Extreme Exposure - lots of suspense

The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins Sempre Redemption (Forever, #2) by J.M. Darhower Devil in Spurs by Norah Hess Texas Destiny (Texas Trilogy, #1) by Lorraine Heath Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off (Country Music Collection, #1) by Cara North Yours Affectionately, Jane Austen (The Man Who Loved Jane Austen, #2) by Sally Smith O'Rourke Here be Dragons (Welsh Princes, #1) by Sharon Kay Penman A Curious Beginning (Veronica Speedwell Mystery, #1) by Deanna Raybourn Body & Soul (The Ghost and the Goth, #3) by Stacey Kade Julia's Chocolates by Cathy Lamb What Doesn't Kill Us by Brandy Worrall Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen Suddenly One Summer by Julie James Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple Size 12 and Ready to Rock (Heather Wells, #4) by Meg Cabot Backstage Pass (Sinners on Tour, #1) by Olivia Cunning Betrayal in Death (In Death, #12) by J.D. Robb Extreme Exposure (I-Team, #1) by Pamela Clare

Happy Reading!

message 104: by Sassafrass (new)

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 4192 comments Hi Rebecca!

Sorry about the wait, but I was really trying to go through you TBR list to come up with some picks for you so it took me a while. ;) I tried to pick at least 4 NEW picks and 4 TBR picks for you. I hope you enjoy your picks.

Top 40:
[TBR] A is for Alibi -- the newest book "X" came out this summer but, you really don't want to start there. I see that you have the early part of the series on your TBR so I started at the beginning. This series is a favorite of mine. I love Kinsey Millhone.

[NEW] Cold-Hearted Rake -- I see that you like historical romance. It's not usually my go to genre, but Lisa Kleypas is an author who made me really enjoy Historical Romance. This just came out and looks really good. I've added it to my TBR as well.

A is for Alibi (Kinsey Millhone, #1) by Sue Grafton Cold-Hearted Rake by Lisa Kleypas

Country/Western:
I did "outdoorsy covers" for this section
[TBR] Hello, My Love! -- sounds cute

[TBR] Everneath -- I've heard really good things about this one

Hello, My Love! (Between Two Worlds, #1) by E. Journey Everneath (Everneath, #1) by Brodi Ashton

Classic Rock
[TBR] Gone with the Wind -- I don't think you get much more "classic" than this one

[NEW] It Had to Be You --although not a classic in the strictest sense of the word, Susan Elizabeth Phillips is a staple in the world of contemporary romance, and this series "Chicago Stars" is one that I consider to be classic CR.

Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell It Had to Be You (Chicago Stars, #1) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

Classical:
[TBR] Dangerous -- I really enjoyed this Historical Romance. It had a little bit of everything. It was funny, quirky, had a mystery and some action. Not to mention an unconventional romance. It really held my attention.

[TBR] Simply Irresistible -- This one has been on your TBR for quite some time. I enjoyed it, it was one of my first Rachel Gibson books.

Dangerous by Amanda Quick Simply Irresistible (Chinooks Hockey Team, #1) by Rachel Gibson

Indie:

[TBR] Life's a Drag -- this one sounds cute

[TBR] Revamped -- it's been out for a while but doesn't seem like it's gotten a lot of buzz. sounds interesting though.

Life's a Drag by Janie Millman Revamped by Crystal B. Bright

Blues:
[TBR] The List -- anything with high school girls has to be emotional, right? LOL

[TBR] Desire the Night -- blue cover

The List by Siobhan Vivian Desire the Night by Amanda Ashley

Alternative:
[NEW] On Dublin Street -- New Adult isn't a genre that you read, looking over TBR. One of my favorite New Adult series every is On Dublin Street. I'd love to know what you think.

[NEW] Between Sinners and Saints -- M/M romance is not a genre that I saw on your TBR either. I didn't see in your profile that it was a hard limit either. This book is one that I thought was so well written and is just a beautiful story.

On Dublin Street (On Dublin Street, #1) by Samantha Young Between Sinners and Saints by Marie Sexton

Techno:
[TBR] Cinder -- I really thought this book was great. I have to get back to the rest of the series

[TBR] Eve -- This one look interesting

Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer Eve (Eve, #1) by Anna Carey

Ok, there you have it. I hope you've got a least of couple of books that you can read this month. Let me know if you need re-picks. Enjoy!

Aminko | 653 comments Hey Fleurette,

I hope you find one or two in this selection that take your fancy. For some of the categories I picked non-romance novels. If you'd rather a romance themed novel for all the picks let me know and I'll re-pick for you.

Enjoy your November reading!

Top 40
1. Attraction by Penny Reid - The latest release on your TBR list
2. The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski - The highest rating on your TRB list
3. The Witness by Nora Roberts - A book you've not yet read by an author you like + it has an average rating over 4

4. Rock Hard by Nalina Singh - You had read the first in this series and rated several of her books highly (... and it's about a guy that plays rugby - last one I promise :-))

My Sunshine by Catherine Anderson Evan (Silhouette, #819; Long, Tall Texans #8) by Diana Palmer Just This Once (Escape to New Zealand, #1) by Rosalind James Rock Hard (Rock Kiss, #2) by Nalini Singh

Tall, Dark and Wolfish (Westfield Wolves, #2) by Lydia Dare What Burns Within by Sandra Ruttan Red (Transplanted Tales, #1) by Kate SeRine August 9th by Stu Schreiber

Blues
1. Before Sunrise by Diana Palmer - I think this one might be an emotional roller-coaster.
2. No Escape by Mary Burton - A blue cover
3. Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire - Filled with emotional angst. There is a companion book from the heros' POV entitled Walking Disaster.
4. Avoiding Commitment by K.A. Linde - I'm not a great fan of emotional angst but this one was hard to put down. Be warned that it's the first in a trilogy.

Before Sunrise by Diana Palmer No Escape by Mary Burton Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful, #1) by Jamie McGuire Avoiding Commitment (Avoiding, #1) by K.A. Linde

Alternative Rock

Erin (erin-b) Hi Nancy H, here are your picks. I had a great time looking through your shelves and putting together this list for you. We don't have that many books in common, so if you need me to pick something again, let me know. Hope you find something here that you will enjoy reading for November.

Top 40: Recommend a book that’s popular right now or a new release or a book with an average rating over 4.0 stars

Death Runs Adrift by Karen MacInerney or Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson

Classic Rock: Recommend a book that you consider a classic romance or a book published before 1990
Mackenzie's Mountain by Linda Howard is one of my favorites or The Thin Man by Dashiell Hammett. The Thin Man movies were a lot of fun, and hopefully the book is too.

Classical: Recommend a historical book or a book that’s been on you pickee’s shelves longer than a year (if there aren’t any, then choose one of the oldest)
The Alehouse Murders by Maureen Ash has been on your shelf since 2011. Or Second Sight by Amanda Quick is the start to a really fun series.

So here are my thoughts for you this round. :)

Top 40
New: The Assassin's Blade - The series is really growing in popularity and I LOVE it. While this prequel book isn't absolutely necessary to read first I did and was glad I had.
TBR: Feel the Burn

The Assassin's Blade (Throne of Glass, #0.1-0.5) by Sarah J. Maas Feel the Burn (Dragon Kin, #8) by G.A. Aiken

Country
New: The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics - Not strictly a romance per se though there's bits of that too, but this story was fantastic and it's all true!
TBR: Guardians of Ga'Hoole Collection

The Boys in the Boat Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics by Daniel James Brown Guardians of Ga'Hoole Collection by Kathryn Lasky

Classic Rock
New: The Princess Bride
TBR: The Golden Compass - Closest you get on your TBR. ;)

Classical
New: Shanna
TBR: The Taming of Malcolm Grant

Shanna by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss The Taming of Malcolm Grant (The MacGregors Highland Heirs #4) by Paula Quinn

Indie
New: The Student Prince - You had at least one MM author on your TBR so I thought I could slip this one in. I loved this take on Merlin/Arthur and it's a free download since it's technically fanfic.
TBR: Magicless

The Student Prince (The Student Prince, #1) by FayJay Magicless by K. Ferrin

Blues
New: Written in Red
TBR: Dark Ghost

Written in Red (The Others, #1) by Anne Bishop Dark Ghost (Dark, #28) by Christine Feehan

Alternative Rock
New: An Intrepid Trip to Love - Seems you like the paranormal stories so I thought I'd throw in a mix of something you like with MM which still seems new to you. :)
TBR: Carrying Albert Home: The Somewhat True Story of A Man, His Wife, and Her Alligator - This jumped out as very different than the rest of your TBR.

An Intrepid Trip to Love (A Little Bite of Love #1) by Charlie Cochet Carrying Albert Home The Somewhat True Story of A Man, His Wife, and Her Alligator by Homer Hickam

Techno
New: Dragonflight - Though it reads a lot like fantasty this series is backed by the sci-fi. :D
TBR: Legacy Code

Dragonflight (Pern, #1) by Anne McCaffrey Legacy Code (Legacy Code, #1) by Autumn Kalquist
