2015 November Pick-It-For-Me Challenge

Top 40:
Written in Red- I can't believe you haven't read this! You should, it's fan-freaking-tastic!
Better Homes and Hauntings- FAC. I had to work that in somehow :) Besides, MH is always a fun choice.
Country:
Keegan's Lady- Western and Outdoorsy!
Prince Charming- Julie Garwood does Western Romance. Loved it! Bonus points for the magic of Rosalyn Landor on audio :)
Classic Rock:
The Princess Bride- Fun! Or so I've heard, lol. Love the movie just haven't read the book yet.
Shanna- Chunkster alert! A goodie but an oldie.
Classical:
Bone Deep- I've had my eye on this for some time too.
The Magpie Lord- Man, I love this series! Magic, Mystery, and Man lovin. It's fantastic.
Indie:
Waking the Dragon- Lesser known but it has good ratings. Plus, dragons.
Fallen- I never would have picked this up if it wasn't recommended to me. I was pleasantly surprised!
Blues:
The Sea of Tranquility- Angsty YA book that I have on my list too. Guess we better grab some kleenex :)
Night Road- This book made me sob. Big ugly snotty cry. Yet, I absolutely loved it. Good audio too!
Alternative Rock:
Deep- Loved this series!
Bad Things- I plowed through this series too. Loved these 2 characters and the series.
Techno:
Killbox- I need to get back to this series!
The Martian- Brilliant audio!

Sorry about the wait, but I was really trying to go through you TBR list to come up with some picks for you so it took me a while. ;) I tried to pick at least 4 NEW picks and 4 TBR picks for you. I hope you enjoy your picks.
Top 40:
[TBR] A is for Alibi -- the newest book "X" came out this summer but, you really don't want to start there. I see that you have the early part of the series on your TBR so I started at the beginning. This series is a favorite of mine. I love Kinsey Millhone.
[NEW] Cold-Hearted Rake -- I see that you like historical romance. It's not usually my go to genre, but Lisa Kleypas is an author who made me really enjoy Historical Romance. This just came out and looks really good. I've added it to my TBR as well.

Country/Western:
I did "outdoorsy covers" for this section
[TBR] Hello, My Love! -- sounds cute
[TBR] Everneath -- I've heard really good things about this one

Classic Rock
[TBR] Gone with the Wind -- I don't think you get much more "classic" than this one
[NEW] It Had to Be You --although not a classic in the strictest sense of the word, Susan Elizabeth Phillips is a staple in the world of contemporary romance, and this series "Chicago Stars" is one that I consider to be classic CR.

Classical:
[TBR] Dangerous -- I really enjoyed this Historical Romance. It had a little bit of everything. It was funny, quirky, had a mystery and some action. Not to mention an unconventional romance. It really held my attention.
[TBR] Simply Irresistible -- This one has been on your TBR for quite some time. I enjoyed it, it was one of my first Rachel Gibson books.

Indie:
[TBR] Life's a Drag -- this one sounds cute
[TBR] Revamped -- it's been out for a while but doesn't seem like it's gotten a lot of buzz. sounds interesting though.

Blues:
[TBR] The List -- anything with high school girls has to be emotional, right? LOL
[TBR] Desire the Night -- blue cover

Alternative:
[NEW] On Dublin Street -- New Adult isn't a genre that you read, looking over TBR. One of my favorite New Adult series every is On Dublin Street. I'd love to know what you think.
[NEW] Between Sinners and Saints -- M/M romance is not a genre that I saw on your TBR either. I didn't see in your profile that it was a hard limit either. This book is one that I thought was so well written and is just a beautiful story.

Techno:
[TBR] Cinder -- I really thought this book was great. I have to get back to the rest of the series
[TBR] Eve -- This one look interesting

Ok, there you have it. I hope you've got a least of couple of books that you can read this month. Let me know if you need re-picks. Enjoy!

It's always fun going through your shelves, we have lots in common. I hope I found you a few new goodies to read :)
Top 40:

Great Picks, FRAN! I have no idea where to start. I'm going to get quite a few of these next month.

I hope you find one or two in this selection that take your fancy. For some of the categories I picked non-romance novels. If you'd rather a romance themed novel for all the picks let me know and I'll re-pick for you.
Enjoy your November reading!
Top 40
1. Attraction by Penny Reid - The latest release on your TBR list
2. The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski - The highest rating on your TRB list
3. The Witness by Nora Roberts - A book you've not yet read by an author you like + it has an average rating over 4
4. Hollywood Dirt by Alessandra Torre - A new release that I thought might be interesting

Country
1. My Sunshine by Catherine Anderson - An outdoorsy storyline
2. Evan by Diana Palmer - How could you go past Long, Tall and Texan!
3. Just This Once by Rosalind James - A romance involving a New Zealand Rugby Player. How could I resist when the All Blacks are in the Rugby World Cup!
4. Rock Hard by Nalina Singh - You had read the first in this series and rated several of her books highly (... and it's about a guy that plays rugby - last one I promise :-))

Classic Rock
All of these books were first published on or before 1990
1. Playing The Odds by Nora Roberts
2. River Lady by Jude Deveraux
3. Rules of Prey by John Sandford - Not a romance.
4. Postmortem by Patricia Cornwell - A great British crime series. Not a romance.

Classical
1. Lady Jenny's Christmas Portrait (The Duke's Daughters, #5) by Grace Burrowes - Historical Romance
2. The Husband Trap by Tracy Anne Warren - been on your TBR pile the second longest and a historical romance
3. Diamonds and Dreams by Rebecca Paisley - A sweet historical romance
4. The Perfect Rake by Anne Gracie - A historical romance that has an unusual twist involving the Rake.

Indie
1. Tall, Dark and Wolfish by Lydia Dare - this was her debut series
2. What Burns Within by Sandra Ruttan - a little known book on Goodreads with only 91 ratings
3. Red by Kate SeRine - this book has a little of everything; paranormal, mystery and romance
4. August 9th by Stu Schreiber - A really interesting look at a "What If" romance

Blues
1. Before Sunrise by Diana Palmer - I think this one might be an emotional roller-coaster.
2. No Escape by Mary Burton - A blue cover
3. Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire - Filled with emotional angst. There is a companion book from the heros' POV entitled Walking Disaster.
4. Avoiding Commitment by K.A. Linde - I'm not a great fan of emotional angst but this one was hard to put down. Be warned that it's the first in a trilogy.

Alternative Rock
Your requested list to choose from was heavily romantic suspence or thriller making it hard to find two books that fit this category from your TBR pile so I picked one and three new to you.
1. The Hundredth Man by Jack Kerley - A straight mystery (no romance)
2. Norse Jewel by Gina Conkle - A Viking romance
3. Bite Me, Your Grace by Brooklyn Ann - A historical paranormal romance
4. Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison - A great urban fantasy with strong female leads. This is one of my favourite series.

Techno
1. Cold Midnight by Joyce Lamb - A romantic suspense
2. Confessions by Cynthia Eden - Another great sounding romantic suspense
3. Hidden by Kendra Elliot - A romantic suspense I enjoyed
4. Fatal Affair by Marie Force - I loved the dynamic between the two main characters in this one.

Hi Emerson,
Thanks so much for the great picks! I've already read Backstage Pass and Bared to You, but that's ok, I can always choose another one in the series for those :)

Hi Fran,
Are you sure you don't want me to re pick? I went by your to read list so I thought those two hadn't been read. But then again, my own lists are not entirely updated either. Let me know what you decide. And thanks for letting me know.

Here are your picks. I hope you find something you like.

Top 40: Recommend a book that’s popular right now or a new release or a book with an average rating over 4.0 stars
Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library by Chris Grabenstein looks really adorable and it has an average rating of 4.08 stars. Girl Waits with Gun by Amy Stewart is an intriguing new release, and the cover is pretty cool looking too.
Country: Recommend a western book or a book with an outdoorsy character or a book with an outdoorsy cover
Death Runs Adrift by Karen MacInerney or Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson
Classic Rock: Recommend a book that you consider a classic romance or a book published before 1990
Mackenzie's Mountain by Linda Howard is one of my favorites or The Thin Man by Dashiell Hammett. The Thin Man movies were a lot of fun, and hopefully the book is too.
Classical: Recommend a historical book or a book that’s been on you pickee’s shelves longer than a year (if there aren’t any, then choose one of the oldest)
The Alehouse Murders by Maureen Ash has been on your shelf since 2011. Or Second Sight by Amanda Quick is the start to a really fun series.
Indie: Recommend a lesser known book or a book from a smaller publishing company
The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde or Death on the Silk Road by Russell R. Miller or Murder is a Girl's Best Friend by Amanda Matetsky
Blues: Recommend an emotional book or a book with blue on the cover
The Fashion Hound Murders by Elaine Viets or Storm Front by Jim Butcher
Alternative Rock: Recommend a book from genre new to your pickee or a book with a rockstar
Rock Chick Redemption by Kristen Ashley or The Curtis Reincarnation by Zathyn Priest or Backstage Pass by Olivia Cunning
Techno: Recommend a sci-fi or futuristic book or a romantic suspense
Midnight in Death by J.D. Robb or Deadly Harvest by Heather Graham

I hope you find one or two in this selection ..."
Thanks, Amy, I will definitely try out some books that you suggested. And I'm perfectly okay with non-romance books, some of them were already on my preferred shelf.

Here are your picks for November. I hope that you enjoy them.

You definitely don't need to re-pick! I have the second in the series for both those books on my tbr so it's all good. You also gave me so many extra picks! It's a great list of choices, thanks again :)

Top 40:
NEW: Driven - K. Bromberg - popular series, rated over 4 stars. You have one on your TBR but I don't see you've read any by this author
TBR: The Saint - Tiffany Reisz - highest rated on your TBR that I recognized

Country:
NEW: The Touch of Sage - Marcia Lynn McClure - a great historical fiction in the old west
TBR: Rode Hard, Put Up Wet - Lorelie James - my go-to westerns!

Classic Rock:
NEW: My Lady Vixen - Connie Mason - old skool romance, for sure. You haven't read any Connie Mason so hopefully this is new to you.
TBR: Little Men - Louisa May Alcott - not the first book that comes to mind as a classic romance, but Little Woman is one of my favorites. Enjoy the sequel…

Classical:
NEW: Another Chance - Michelle Beattie - I thought this was an interesting take on historical fiction
TBR: Snow Crash - Neal Stephenson - one of the oldest on your TBR

Indie:
NEW: The Very Thought of You - Carolann Camillo - only 10 ratings but I enjoyed it!
TBR: The White Rose of Nightfall - Carla Peele - only 5 ratings so I'd say counts as a lesser known book and it looks interesting.

Blues:
NEW: Accidentally on Purpose - L.D. Davis - extremely emotional book/series. Full disclosure: there is cheating in this book but the characters are not married.
TBR: Heartbreak Creek - Kaki Warner - blue cover

Alternative Rock:
NEW: I Love The 80s - Megan Crane - this was a fun read - nostalgic if you're a child of the 80's!
TBR: The Heroin Diaries: A Year In The Life Of A Shattered Rock Star - Nikki Six - a real rockstar

Techno:
NEW: Fatal Affair - Marie Force - I like this Romantic Suspense series a lot
TBR: Grimspace - Ann Aguirre - only Sci-fi I have read… and I actually enjoyed it.

Bone Dust & Beginnings (Alexas Travels Book1) by Angela White

So here are my thoughts for you this round. :)
Top 40
New: The Assassin's Blade - The series is really growing in popularity and I LOVE it. While this prequel book isn't absolutely necessary to read first I did and was glad I had.
TBR: Feel the Burn

Country
New: The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics - Not strictly a romance per se though there's bits of that too, but this story was fantastic and it's all true!
TBR: Guardians of Ga'Hoole Collection

Classic Rock
New: The Princess Bride
TBR: The Golden Compass - Closest you get on your TBR. ;)

Classical
New: Shanna
TBR: The Taming of Malcolm Grant

Indie
New: The Student Prince - You had at least one MM author on your TBR so I thought I could slip this one in. I loved this take on Merlin/Arthur and it's a free download since it's technically fanfic.
TBR: Magicless

Blues
New: Written in Red
TBR: Dark Ghost

Alternative Rock
New: An Intrepid Trip to Love - Seems you like the paranormal stories so I thought I'd throw in a mix of something you like with MM which still seems new to you. :)
TBR: Carrying Albert Home: The Somewhat True Story of A Man, His Wife, and Her Alligator - This jumped out as very different than the rest of your TBR.

Techno
New: Dragonflight - Though it reads a lot like fantasty this series is backed by the sci-fi. :D
TBR: Legacy Code

Jessica, I hate to tell you this, but it looks like you went off the wrong list and picked for the wrong person...you were supposed to pick for Breann! :(

Barbara, make sure to use the picking rules posted here when making your recommendations. You should recommend 4 new books and 4 books on their TBR.

Here are your picks. If you don't see any you like, please let me know and I can give you more picks. There were lots of interesting ones on your TBR!
Top 40: The Girl on the Train - Not a love triangle, which I see you hate, but more of a dysfunctional mess of relationships that keeps you turning pages (sort of like watching a train wreck happen) - a book I couldn't put down that is currently popular Sempre: Redemption - on your TBR, more than 4 stars
Country: Devil in Spurs and Texas Destiny and/or Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off - three westerns
Classic Rock: Yours Affectionately, Jane Austen - sort of related to a classic; Here be Dragons - originally published in 1985
Classical: A Curious Beginning - not exactly a romance per se, but a GREAT main character who is way ahead of her time; Body & Soul - among the ones on your list from longer than a year ago
Indie: Julia's Chocolates - one of my all-time favorites because it is so refreshingly different; What Doesn't Kill Us - definitely an indie publisher and what a book (I happen to know this author, and her story, which is all true, just blows me away!)
Blues: Saint Anything- emotional; Suddenly One Summer and Outlander - blue on the covers
Alternative Rock: Where'd You Go, Bernadette - new to you genre (and sort of hard to categorize, although it is really good); Size 12 and Ready to Rock (Heather was a rock star at one time) and Backstage Pass - definitely sizzling rock stars
Techno: Betrayal in Death (or whichever of hers is next on your list in that series, since I see that you like those); Extreme Exposure - lots of suspense
Happy Reading!
