Thanks for the encouragement, KarenH! It's good to know that it's possible to build up enough of a resistance to be able to say "NO!". :) Even if it took you two times. lol!

this may have been asked but can we use a book from a series say one that we're reading 5 from and use a 6th for one of the categories in #2?

As requested, a series challenge. The duration of this challenge is one year from the sign-up date. You can cross challenge with other challenges, but within Serial Reader the books you list cannot repeat.
This one is monstrous, not for the faint of heart!!! In order to complete it officially, you'll have to read: 28+ books and 15+ different series. Yup, you're reading it right. But fear not, I'm willing to compromise: if you omit some of the subcategories and then call it quits - fine by me - you just won't be all that notorious then. Of course, you can post as you go, but be sure to sign up to set the start date. (note: it's ok to back date if you wish to do so)
So Serial Readers, are you up for the challenge?!
1/16/16-1/16/17

4 from 2nd:

Magic Ex Libris

Pretty Little Liars

Tricks

(and you don't have to be starting with 1st book each time)
Read one book from each of the genres. It does not have to be the first book in the series, but it must be a series book, not a stand-alone:

Try out a totally new author. If the book turns out to be a stinker, you have to TRY AGAIN. Repeat until you find a series that you like and are willing to keep on reading in the future.

Start on that series that everybody is praising so much but you keep postponing for later.
Just read it already. Go on!

Read a whole series from the beginning to the end (or to the last published book). You choose whether it's going to be a 15-book-long-monster or a 2-book-long-freshly-started-baby series, but there must be at least 2 books, because it's not really a series yet if there's just 1!

Read a trilogy. An old fashioned trilogy that wraps up at book 3.

Read a book in a series with a strong female kick-ass protagonist, something like: police detective, body builder, warrior. So for example LKH Anita Blake would work.

If I'm understanding your question correctly, unfortunately the answer is no...you can't use different books within the same series in different places in the challenge. You can use different series by the same author though, so one slight exception would be if you have a book that's actually part of 2 different series, you could call it whichever series you choose, and then use a book from the other series. For example, Fall Fury is listed as the 2nd book in 2 different series...you could use it in one place as part of either series, then use a different book (or books) from the other series somewhere else in the challenge. I hope this makes sense! :D

I updated my Post #113.
And, I'm seriously considering starting another one. I really enjoyed this challenge!

I actually did it twice, too. It's been a few years, but I think I took a short break - maybe to start the second round at the beginning of a month or something - and I remember being soooo careful during that month not to read any books I needed for the challenge!
It's a great challenge, Karen. Thanks for hosting it!

4/29
1) Jack the Page Ripper (15 books):
Take 5 series, read:
5 books from 1st series (of your choice)
4 from 2nd
3 from 3rd
2 from 4th
1 from the last one (and you don't have to be starting with 1st book each time)
2) Una-book-bomber (5 books):
Read one book from each of the genres. It does not have to be the first book in the series, but it must be a series book, not a stand-alone:
chick-lit
romance
mystery
pnr/urban-fantasy/fantasy/sci-fi
young adult
3) Spree Series Killer (1+ book):
Try out a totally new author. If the book turns out to be a stinker, you have to TRY AGAIN. Repeat until you find a series that you like and are willing to keep on reading in the future.
4) Author-ican Psycho (1 book):
Try a book from the author you've "given up" on - call it one more try. It can be the same series you previously found only so-so, or a totally different series by the same author. It's up to you.
5) Dr. Hannibal Lecturer (1 book):
Start on that series that everybody is praising so much but you keep postponing for later.
Just read it already. Go on!
6) The Book Strangler (1/2):
Little Blue Envelope by Maureen Johnson
✔️1. [Book:13 Little Blue Envelopes|17020]-1.4.17
2. The Last Little Blue Envelope

✔️7) 3rd Degree (3/3):
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
✔️1. The Hunger Games2.24.17
✔️2. Catching Fire-2.28.17
✔️3. Mockingjay-3.2.17

BONUS: Bloody Mary (1 book):
Read a book in a series with a strong female kick-ass protagonist, something like: police detective, body builder, warrior. So for example LKH Anita Blake would work.

6) The Book Strangler (2+ books):
Read a whole series from the beginning to the end (or to the last published book). You choose whether it's going to be a 15-book-long-monster or a 2-book-long-freshly-started-baby series, but there must be at least 2 books, because it's not really a series yet if there's just 1!
7) 3rd Degree (3 books):
Read a trilogy. An old fashioned trilogy that wraps up at book 3.
BONUS: Bloody Mary (1 book):
