It s hard to trust the future when you ve been branded by the past.

Rough Riders, Book 6

As a walking advertisement for the tattoo shop she s set up in a small Wyoming town, India Ellison is well acquainted with preconceived notions. Despite the odd looks and off-color comments about her off-color hair, life is good. She s clean and sober, dotes on her sister s kids and, best of all, spends most of her free time with her best buddy, cowboy Colt McKay.

Reformed bad boy Colt never expected three years of sobriety to lead to three years of abstinence. Curbing his craving for booze and random sexual encounters is nothing compared to the ever-increasing craving for his hot-tempered, hot-bodied best friend, India. Too bad she s his A.A. sponsor. Too bad she hasn t a clue that Colt s been head-over-bootheels in love with her from day one.

After an unexpected, steamy interlude, all India can think about is riding the sexy cowboy instead of her motorcycle, even when Colt is determined to show her a slower ride is worth the wait.

Or are they risking their friendship for a fling that could burn them both?"

Another broken-record-sounding review here, but I can't help it--Lorelei James is consistently awesome with her Rough Riders series--there hasn't been a bad one in the bunch yet! I know I'm not the only one who appreciates this series--there's just something so effortless about LJ's writing that makes it so darn easy to gobble these stories right up! Her characters are so real and relatable--they're far from perfect and sometimes you get annoyed with them, but always, always by the end of the story I am in love with them and usually shed a tear or two for them. This 'good-friends-to-lovers' story was no exception--I got caught up immediately, laughing at some of the dialogue, smiling at the good times the H/h were having, worrying when their relationship met up with some complications, sighing over their scorching love scenes, and feeling very proud for both the H/h when they conquered their demons, set things right with their relationship, learned how to trust each other and got their own and their family's respect once again. Just a very satisfying read.

A few plot details now...the hero of this book, Colt McKay, is the so-called "black sheep" of the ranching McKay family. In the previous books he's a hard drinking, hard partying, drug taking, good-time-Charlie womanizer. By the third book in the series, Cowgirl Up and Ride, he's hit rock bottom with his hard partying ways, and his family is disgusted with him (as I was too). He finally, finally realizes he needs help with his addictions, and thankfully he gets it. Over the couse of the next two books (Tied Up, Tied Down and Rough, Raw and Ready) the reader sees that he's getting his act together with the support of his A.A. sponsor, India Ellison.

India (or "Indy" as Colt called her)--I loved this tough talking, no-nonsense, funky-haired, tattooed, pierced, biker chick with a heart of gold! She was so outside the norm of the women who resided in tiny Sundance, Wyoming and she had her concerns about fitting into the conservative community that I was pulling for her all the way. She had her own less than stellar past with drugs, alcohol, and choosing the wrong men, but had been clean and sober for the past eight years. During the three years of being Colt's sponsor they developed a special friendship that never went beyond the platonic. But all that changed when Indy accidentally shot Colt with a nail gun, right in the a** cheek.

I don't want to say any more about the plot, except to say that Indy and Colt realize that what they feel for each other goes way beyond friendship, and they decide to take a tentative next step and try dating, with no sex involved for at least two weeks. Two long and very frustrating and sometimes argumentative two weeks. Lots and lots of very hot almost there moments culminating in a big sex-fest at Colt's house (when the 2 weeks are up) involving Colt and Indy, the watching of a porno movie, the use of copious amounts of caramel, whipped cream, and Colt giving new meaning to the phrase "take your licks"...whew!

Now as I was nearly half way through the book and everything was going so well between Colt and Indy, I started to wonder "is it going to be this easy for them?" Of course not. There are obstacles put in their way--his family's skepticism, her insecurities, their jealousies, their addictions, trust issues--all that gets dealt with and in a totally believable way that adds a lot of meat and meaning to the story. Two of my favorite scenes in the book are when Colt's mom Carlolyn has sort of a heart-to-heart with Indy, and Indy stands up to her, telling her all about the man her son has become, and when Colt's dad Carson has an apologetic heart-to-heart with him--this scene brought tears to my eyes.

There's a very sweet (but a bit predictable) ending that had me smiling and heaving a sigh or relief as well. I just love it when the H/h realize they're soul mates and get everything worked out.

I love this crazy, boisterous McKay family and all their cousins, children, and extended family. These are no cookie cutter heroes and heroines, but real people with real problems with some annoying quirks and habits--but they're always lovable and I'm always rooting for them. If you're looking for a friends to lovers story with touches of humor, lots of hot sex (with nothing too kinky), and a nice big fat HEA, then this is the book for you. Now bring on the next one (Shoulda Been A Cowboy, because I can't wait to read about younger brother, wounded war vet Cam McKay. 5 stars.

Warning: This book contains explicit language and sex, including anal and plenty of oral; some food play (involving caramel rolls and whipped cream); some light domination and the use of some scarves; and a movie menage scene described in detail. Not for the faint of heart.

Opening Line: "In celebration of his first year of sobriety, Colt McKay climbed on the back of a bull and rode for a full eight seconds.

Welcome to another deliciously hot read from Lorelei James' Roughrider series. This is book 6 and I’ve come to the conclusion that James can do no wrong as each instalment is more addictive than the last. Somehow she always manages to keep the storylines fresh and the numerous sexcapades just different enough that they never feel formulaic or repetitive. We’re also guaranteed updates on our past couples (which I love) and here they show off their prolific baby making skills, makin me think that there must be something in that Wyoming water. With Colt and India we’re given a sweet fiends to lovers theme and anyone that’s followed the series will give a big cheer as our two black sheep finally find acceptance, unconditional love and unique uses for caramel, whipped cream and body piercings.

Reformed bad boy Colt McKay has been with us throughout, branded the troublemaker of the McKay family due to his womanizing, hard drinking and unreliable ways. By book 3.Cowgirl Up and RideColt finally hit rock bottom, realizing after the death of his cousin that he needed help and entering recovery. Over the course of the next two books we witnessed Colt getting his sheep together with the support of his AA sponsor India Ellison who he’s also developed a serious crush on.

“Indy” as Colt calls her has also been with us for a couple of books now, as the tattooed, pierced, free spirited, wild child sister of Skylar Tied Up, Tied DownShe certainly doesn’t fit into the normal mould of a Wyoming rancher woman and makes no excuses for it. As a walking advertisement for her tattoo shop she’s been clean and sober for 8 years and for the last 3 has spent all her spare time with best friend and fellow addict Colt.

All that changes the night Indy shoots Colt in the butt with a nail gun. For whatever reason she finally sees him in a whole new sexy light (Personally I think it may have been the sight of his bare ass) but whatever the reason they decide to give dating a try. Neither of them wants to mess up their friendship though so they agree to take things slowly at first, with some proper old fashioned dinners, dancing and a strict no sex for 2 weeks policy. And that’s when the fun begins folks …just how far can they tempt and tease each other before somebody loses it?

We’re given plenty of almost moments and James does a great job here with hilarious internal dialogue as the pair wades into unfamiliar territory with strong, sober feelings neither has dealt with before. At the end of the dating period all bets are off, as belt buckles and cowboy boots hit the floor and some serious sexual frustration is released. Yeehaw!

This is a very fun and satisfying romance and although the endings kinda predictable I just loved spending time with the wild, sexy and charming McKay’s again.

5+ stars – Contemporary/Western Romance/Erotica/BDSM

Lorelei James can do no wrong with the Rough Riders series. Seriously, every book gets big 5 stars and I think they can't possibly get any better. But then much to my heart's content, she proves me wrong. Branded As Trouble is another winner and the sweetest romance in the series so far. I loved everything about it: the great writing, the likable characters, the real life drama, the strong, emotional connection between the H/H, and especially the scorching H-O-T eroticism! Another big 5 stars! Ms. James, my hat's off to you, once again!

I almost like this one at much as the previous book, Rough, Raw and Ready. It was really good and I liked both Colt and India a lot. If I could have, though, I would have adjusted one thing about the book and that's to have made it a little more balanced with regards to the sex (which I'll explain in a little bit).

Branded As Trouble is the most recent and sixth book in Lorelei James' Rough Riders series. Back around book 3, readers got to know Colt McKay as the drunken, drugged up party boy/man whore. He was on a downward spiral to hell when the death of his cousin Dag and intervention from his cousin Kade helped get him into rehab. For three years now, he's been clean and sober...and celibate. He's tried to do everything right, but his family, and everyone else, seem to be waiting for him to fail. Except for India Ellison (sister of book 4's heroine). She's a recovering addict herself, and also a bit of a black sheep in town. Tattoo artists who are tattooed and pierced themselves aren't quite the norm in Wyoming. Without her support as his A.A. sponsor, though, Colt knows he would never have made it. She's been more than his sponsor; she's been his best friend...and the woman he's fallen in love with.

India's never given him any idea that she was interested in return. Until one odd sexually charged morning. When the two finally face what happened, Colt decides he wants to take things slow. He wants them to date and not have sex for two weeks. Which is easier said than done now that their feelings are out in the open. The two have their up and down moments and both must face some of their demons if they want to move forward with each other.

When I first saw that there was going to be a book about Colt and India, I was a little wary because of Colt's recovering addict status and the fact that India was his sponsor. I just didn't want this story to happen like a year after Colt got clean. And it didn't. He'd been clean for 3 years before getting involved with India. So I was relieved about that.

I really liked Colt a lot. When he was first brought into focus in book 3 he was a total drunken jackass and I remember thinking, I'm gonna have to read about this guy? I wasn't sure it would be possible to like him. But James did a really great job with his character and he ended up being one of my favorite McKays. You get a really great sense of his character, how he ended up the way he did and what he's going through now. I just liked him a lot.

And I loved India...but I'm always a fan of atypical heroines. And she's definitely atypical with her tattoos and multiple piercings and funky hair. She's got this badass exterior but on this inside, she was a big softie...who has a bit of a temper ;) She and Colt fit really well together. They understood each other.

One thing kept this book from being a 5 for me and that's the sex explosion in the middle of the book. Colt and India wait two weeks after starting to date before they first have sex...and after that, it's sex scene after sex scene. After the first couple, my eyes started to glaze a little bit. Because no matter how hot the sex is (and these were some smokin' scenes) reading them one after the other is a little repetitive. They just needed to be broken up a little bit to make the book more balanced.

This was a great addition to the series though and I enjoyed it a lot. I think those of you reading the Rough Riders series will like it. I can't wait for the next one to come out. My guess is it will be about Cam and Domini, but that's just a guess. And I'm also looking forward to the novella about Quinn and Libby.

WARNING, this book contains: explicit sex, explicit language, anal sex, light bondage, light dominance/submission, toys, body piercings, the H/H watching a group sex porn video that had some F/F action, some spanking, some rough sex...I think that about covers it ;)

I had forgotten how much I enjoyed reading the first 5 books in the Rough Riders Series, which follows the lives of the Wyoming Mckay family of ranchers.

Branded for Trouble, the 6th book gives us Colt McKay and India Ellison, who were introduced in previous books….. and what a fun and fabulous read.

India Ellison is not your average “cowgirl”… photo images_zps506a53b7.jpgan artist who owns a tattoo shop in the local town, with blue dyed hair, tattooed and pierced – she rides a bike and happens to be Colt’s AA sponsor.

Colt McKay, gorgeous, sexy and the black sheep of the family, photo images1_zps3afaf0c4.jpg has been clean for three years after spending a few years in a haze of drugs and alcohol.

Best friends, both trying to deal with their addictions and the attraction they feel for each other which has grown from the friendship.

These two are such a cute, funny and lovable couple. Hot sexual tension….Their interaction and growing feelings are a real treat to see………..Colt realizes he wants to get India into his bed…and what a luck….even if it means some pain for him….yes, India shot him in his ass with one of her tattoo guns…and him now recuperating in her home is the perfect opportunity to get her “nekkid””….
 photo you-r-now-under-my-control-get-nekkid_zps0b2fd00e.jpg

and there’s a lot of that going on in this story………..what a cowboy!!!!
 photo katie_zpsc9081ceb.jpg

Lots of family politics, with appearances of characters from previous books…Cam McKay, war hero who has the hots for Domini Katzinski, Skylar and Kade and their adorable kids and my ultimate favorite trio/couple, Trevor, Edgard & Chassie Glanzer …waiting for their baby to arrive….love seeing how their lives have progressed together.

A fantastic and such a lovely ending to Colt & India’s story…..

I am so looking forward to continuing this series.

Loved it! Colt and India were a great couple. They both had fought through addiction and made a new life afterwards. The chemistry and love scenes between Colt and India were red hot! There was also a lot of emotion in this book. It was great!

There is no ménage or m/m in this book for those who aren't fans.

As my second time reading this book, I can honestly say that I can appreciate it much more after having read the first five books. This time around I knew who everyone was and could understand the relationships and situations better.

There's nothing that I really disliked about this book, either times I've read it. The one thing I noticed this time around, though, was that I felt like this focused more on Indy and Colt's sex life than the building of their romantic relationship. It wasn't focused enough on that for me to end up disliking the book, but it was just an observation I made. It focused more on their relationship towards the end and it would have been nice to have more of that in the rest of the novel.

I love Colt even more upon reading this a second time. I loved seeing him grow in himself and accept himself for who he is. It was great to see that Colt really had changed after going to rehab and to watch him continue to grow in that. I loved his dominant, sexual side, but I liked that, just as Kade was, Colt wasn't an utter asshole with him dominance like his three other brothers (Colby, Carter, and Cord). Plus, he was just so damn adorable; I wanted him all to myself.

Probably my favorite part of this book, though, is when Cam finally defends Colt to Colby, Cord, and Carson and goes off at them about being asshats to Colt for some things that happened years before:

A beer bottle flew and crashed into the side of the barn, shattering the illusion of stillness.

All eyes zoomed to Cam.

“I’m so sick and tired of the ‘holier than thou’ attitude in this family. So Colt screwed up. Every one of us has screwed up at one time or another. How long are you gonna make him pay for it? Jesus, he hit the skids over four years ago. He’s been on the straight and narrow for the last three. During which time, he’s been busting his ass on this ranch, despite having to listen to you berate him and complain about him, or ignore him, or belittle him. None of you have ever been lily white and you’ve got no business judging him.”

“You weren’t here, Cam.”

Cam whirled on Colby. “Guess what? Neither were you! You were off rodeoin’ and playin’ cowboy while Colt was here, actually
being a goddamn cowboy, day in, day out, for twelve fuckin’ years. Don’t forget you couldn’t do shit for months while you recovered from your rodeo injury—months in which, once again, Colt had to do not only his work, but your work.”

Holy shit. Colt had never seen Cam so furious.

But Cam wasn’t finished. He turned his ire on Cord. “Didja forget you got pissed off at Dad and left for a coupla years? Who picked up the slack then? It sure as fuck wasn’t Colby the rodeo king, or Carter the college boy, or Keely the baby girl or me.”

Without moving his angry gaze from Cord, Cam pointed at Colt. “It was him. But you forgot that little factoid, didn’t you? And isn’t it convenient that you all expect Colt to stick around, year in, year out, and do every shit job you don’t want to, because he doesn’t have a…family?” Cam faced Colby again. “That ‘you don’t have a family’ comment is the single shittiest thing I’ve ever heard anyone say. Ever.
You’re supposed to be his family. So are you.” He pointed to Cord. “And you,” he said to Carson. “And me. But when Colt really needed his family to support him and help him? Were any of you there? No. The only person who gave a shit about him…was Kade.”

“That’s enough,” Carson said.

“How could you all rally around me, offering me support, when you didn’t do the same thing for Colt? When he was hurting just as bad? When he’s the one who’s always deserved it way more than I ever did. Because he had no choice but to stick around and live this life, when I had the luxury of leaving it behind.”

Colt’s eyes burned. Leave it to the one-legged man to make a stand for him when no one else in his family ever did.

Ugly, thick silence lingered.

“I’m not surprised you’ve got nothin’ to say. You oughta be hanging your heads in shame. I’m outta here.” Fabric snapped as Cam jerked his coat off the fence. He limped to his truck. After he opened the door he looked at Colt. “Sorry, bro, I know you didn’t ask for this, but it needed to be said. It needed to come from someone with an outsider’s perspective.”

It's about time someone opened their eyes to the horrible way they were treating their brother and son. And so I also love the parts of the book when Cord and Colby come and apologize, and then later when Carson comes to apologize to Colt.

Seeing as I'm half-dead right now, I don't know how eloquent this review is and I can't really think of what else to say. I just want to reiterate how awesome this book is and I'm glad that I read this book first because if I had started with Long Hard Ride I probably would not have continued with the series.

Colt and India's story...... She's been his AA counselor, his best friend, his confident......but he's fallen in love with her. What Colt doesn't know is that Indie has feelings for him too. When a simple evening turns a bit physical, all bets are off. They decide to date without sex for two (long) weeks. When that time is up- WOWSA. Their chemistry is great. I loved their long term, gradual progression from AA support person, to friend, to lover. Some of their issues and fights got on my nerves- almost like the author tried to think up drama to fight about and their reactions were really immature. If they really felt as strong as they did about each other, the issues that seemed to come between them were really trivial.

I felt bad for Colt. He's worked his ass off the past three years of sobriety and abstinence to get his life in order. His entire family, short of Cam, could not get over his past. They passed judgment on his past and the fact he had "no family" of his own- so why shouldn't he bare more of the burden of McKay ranching? They came around and I think it's realistic to real life family issues that they treated him the way they did. Sometimes when families should be your biggest supporters, they're your biggest critics with the longest memories.

This was a sweeter love story than some of the more erotic novels in this series. I did find myself putting it down often as if I was a bit bored. But all in all, another great Rough Rider read.

I related to this story because I too will always be a reforming addict. I loved how they were there for each other and I look forwards to Colt's and India's appearance in books to come.

Colt has been in love with India for 3 years and considers her his best friend. He wants to take things further, but is uncertain that India feels the same way about him. India does feel the same way about Colt, but she's never noticed his interest in her. They decide to take things to the next step, but they have to learn to deal with issues from their past.

Branded as Trouble started out great; I absolutely love the tension between Colt and India. It was easy to see how much they cared about each other, though they were oblivious to the fact themselves. However, I felt things fizzled once they consummated their relationship. The affection was still there, but there were issues of trust that they had to deal with. I liked the fact that though they argued constantly, they fought to make it work for them. I think because of their friendship, communication between them was easier, though they both screwed up at times. Colt had to deal with the continued negativity from his family, but I felt that the resolution was a little too pat. I liked this book, but I didn't love it.

What a wild, hot, emotional ride this was with Colt and Indy. Just when I thought I had my favorite cowboy picked I had to meet Colt. This dirty mouthed, kinky, sexy, dominant cowboy has slain my heart body and soul! I loved how he was labeled the “bad boy” McKay because of his past, but he truly changed and left that life behind of alcoholism. The passion he and Indy have for each literally burned my eyes and made my stomach flutter. Five stars all the way!!

I haven't written a review for any of Ms. Lorelei James' books yet-- well, except for Bran and Harper's book, Saddled and Spurred... so here is my contribution! Branded As Trouble is Colt's book with India/Indy. I love stories where friends become lovers so this was definitely my kind of book! Their romance was sweet and sexy hot. Wow, does Lorelei James know how to write some smokin' love scenes between her characters. Some of the characters in previous books have also made an appearance in here, so it may be a good thing to read them before or after just to refresh your memory. Anyway, if you're in the lookout for a super hot western erotica romance series, you should definitely check out this one!

Colt McKay happens to be the "black sheep" in the family, as read/seen from the previous books. He's had an alcohol problem for awhile and has been attending the AA ever since. For three years as a matter of fact. And there, he befriends and eventually falls in love with India Ellison. India is not your typical girl of course. She's tough-looking but has a heart of gold AND, she does tattooing for a living... which is often talked and looked down upin in the town that they all live in in Wyoming. Well, Colt and Indy meet and secretly fall in love with each other during their many years of friendship and neither one of them has made a move. Their friends to lovers phase finally begins when they both agree to start out slow and date each other. It's truly refreshing to see something like this happen in erotica romances!

Either way, things start off with a bang between the two and they eventually end up going from the dating stage to the lovers stage. Whoo! And boy, was it sexy! Of course, with any romance, there has to be conflict right?

Indy and Colt happen to have a few issues when it comes to trusting one another... so things get a little bit complicated. But beyond that, thankfully everything worked out and they decided to resolve their issues by trusting each other and apologizing to one another towards the end. Overall, this was another wonderful read in the series! I'm definitely looking forward to Cam and Domini's story in Shoulda Been A Cowboy next. 5/5 stars!

This is my third book by this author and I admit I'm hooked.

These type of bboks are my guilty pleasure and though I know I wouldn't like to partake in half of the shennanigans that the characters get up to, its a nice bit of escapisim and this author, so far is my favourite.

I love the leads in this. Both are struggling with their own demons. India has been Colts sponcer at AA for the last three years and this has developed into a frienship of sorts, until she accidently shoots him in the butt with a nail gun.

Then things take a turn and we are on a rollercoaster ride.

It was really well written as both characters have had their flaws and both admit that they have not had the usual dating life due to their respective addications (India is also a recovering alcholic and drug addict) I loved the fact that the author shows that this isn't easily cured and that both characters show the signs of battling the call of their addictions at various points in the book.

I also loved the fact that though it was a HEA for each of them, it didn't end in the usual "Wedded bliss" that the other two books did.

I'm noticing a pattern with this author and though the activity doesn't appeal to me in the slightest, I can see why its included even if it is a bit.... how do I put this... unnecessary in my opinion. This is the third book I've read in this series where the characters partake i nanal sex and it always seems to be "No other man has had you here, so I'm going to lay claim." It did annoy me but I can now see why its included. With modern women and modern society most women are no longer virgins. This new area is almost always uncharted territory for the female and this appears, at least to me, the new losing virginity area. By looking at it this way, it doesn't make me as uncomfortable, but I would rather the author take a different approach.

There is two groundbreaking scenes for me in this book. One is the frankness at which India discusses her past love life and a certain "Friend" that had me laughing out loud due to the fact that before I came to this site I had no idea what it meant and also a couple actually watching porn together. It broke down some barriers for me as reader and it made the story more real.

I can't wait to read another of this series and I noticed that there is also some books about the Mckay cousins, the Wests. These will be going on my wish list!!!!

This series is so addictive that even after not liking Tied Up, Tied Down I still could not take a break. This is one of the best romantica examples of the friends to lovers trope because it was so darned believable as to why they hadn't acted on their feelings yet. They have only known each other 3 years, and she has been his AA sponsor. But now he's well established in his sobriety, and their feelings just can't be denied. The love scenes are off-the charts smokin' as usual, but the over-the-top Alpha Man domination is tempered her by the emotions on both sides. I love Colt, and I don't usually love ex-addict and ex-man-whore heroes this much. However, I really believed that he had changed his ways. This is a really powerful read because both parties know going in that this more than casual, and the tension is in whether or not they can succeed in making it work. This read also works so well because we have both a tortured hero and tortured heroine--darkness abounds, yet the end message is one of resounding hope and love. Another awesome James read.

This series just keeps getting better. Colt and Indie are a great couple and they just heated up the pages of this book. Colt definitely made up for his three years of celibacy…and then some...and again and again!! I just love that Indie is not the typical female that you would pair up to be with a cowboy. She might look like she has an edge, but she is so sweet, loyal and passionate. The family drama and issues just made this book so enjoyable, as you get to watch them all grow and adjust to the changes in the family dynasty. This series is so much more than hot sex…very hot and fervent sex…it is a continuing saga about a close-knit family that on the outside appears to have it all, but is not immune to the troubles that plague us all. I can’t wait to read Cam’s book, he was a hero in this one and will no doubt be a hero in his own.

I don’t remember why I left this and next book of this series for last, but I’m glad I’m catching up my out-of-order reading because I really liked this one. It was a bit more serious than previous ones, but the pace, the love scenes, the H/h transition from friends to lovers was perfect, although I confess that once they started going at it, there were so many love scenes that I skipped a couple by the end.
HERO was Playful, spent many years partying and drinking but since the death of his cousin has straightened his life, and is now an entrepreneur and rancher. He’s in love with his AA sponsor and best friend, a tattoed, pierced sexy woman, and he decides it’s time to take it to the next level.

I just say Colt and India - wowza!

This book was hot. And I'm not girl to complain about too much sex but I would have loved to read more about their friendship and less sex montages. I really loved the friendship-to-love angel and it is a very important book in the McKay family dimension. Definitely my favorite in terms of side stories. And I loved India. Best heroine award!

Ok I'm not going to review this one just tell you my Fav things about it as it will take all day.

1. I was really intrigued by Colt in the first few books... But wow! What a change! He's sweet, still a devil with a silver tongue but caring and hopelessly inlove with Indy! He still has his demons but the way you go through that journey with him is awesome.
2. India also I wanted to know about from the past books and I'm so glad I did! Underneath the tattoo's and piercing in a heart of gold and insecurities! She is hard assed and talks back but also incredibly sweet.
3. Kade and Skylar had twins... and girls at that!! = )
4. Indy stands up to Mama Bear and doesn't back down! Carolyn stormed in ready for Indy to cave but Indy gave as good as she got.
5. Cord and Colby are a$$'s in this! But they make you love them again...
6. The scene where Cam snaps! (the above) OMG!
7. WHAT DO THEY HAVE IN THE WATER ON THE MCKAY RANCHES?! Everyone has babies! wow.. I can't keep up with who's is who's.. but then again with the way they all have sex… hehehe
8. Carson McKay made me cry... and love him.. that's all I'll say..
9. I honestly really liked this book for its storyline, yes there was LOTS of sex, but the bits in between were actually really good too! It was nice to tag along on Colt and Indy's journey from friends to lovers.
10. Again that LJ incorporated the whole family into the story, so you know what happened with Chass, Trev and Ed and everyone else that keeps popping up.
11. That Colt had a dominant side but it was like Kade where he was dominant but caring.
12. I still REALLY REALLY want a McKay/West!!

I love Colt and India so much that I want a threesome!

India is by far my favorite heroine of the series. She’s tough, sensitive but still know hardheaded enough to know what she wants. Colt and India have been long time friends and have been each other’s support buddy as they try to reform themselves. I love that James set it up like this but didn’t use it as a crutch as a basis for their relationship. Yes, they’ve known and trusted each other for a long time, but that isn’t the reason why they are together now.

James always comes up with refreshing and authentic ways of making her characters feel real to readers and I think that’s why the series has grown exponentially. It’s the authenticity that makes this series so addicting. BRANDED AS TROUBLE is my favorite of the series so far!

Wow! ~sigh~ That was wonderful!

What a great book! I loved Colt and India - their relationship was so well written. It wasn't so much about redemption, although both of them had worked for that in their past, in Colt's case - his recent past. It was about trust and acceptance. And those themes rang so true in this book with these characters. And it was about love, hot steamy love a fair amount of the time, but deep sweet love too.

Is it wrong to describe this series as addictive in my review of a book about addicts? I mean it in the best possible way! I can hardly wait to read the next one!!

BY FAR MY FAVORITE OF THE SERIES SO FAR!!

This was different from the others. It was more of a connection within the characters. They had a friendship that went beyond anything that the previous books had.

This was hot, erotic, scrum-a-licious, romantic. The it had the hole kit and caboodle!

CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE!!!

hmmm, This book wasn't what I thought it would be. I still liked it, but I was excited about Colt that was before in his wild ways and his woman taming him. I'm not disappointed in the way the book went just wasn't what I was expecting. Still love this series and looking forward to so much more. :)

Trust is the basis of everything!! Colt finally gets his chance to give into his feelings for India. In return she gives him back his family and helps build a united McKay Family.

I love the Rough Riders series. This is no secret. Since I picked up the first of the series, Long Hard Ride I've been addicted. And I've been pacing them out. Well, some of the time anyway. Anyway, this novel is about bad boy Colt McKay, and I have to say, I adored this McKay bad boy too. Why are they all bad? Cuz they're McKays.

Colt: Literally, the bad McKay boy. Colt's a recovery alcoholic and because of his addiction, he's done some things that really alienated his family. But Colt's been clean and sober for three years and yet, not a single one of his family members besides his cousins and younger siblings has any respect for him. Or really knows him or wants to. I have to say, the way his older brothers treated him really upset me. But I was glad he had India throughout the novel. It was wonderful seeing him receiving trust and love from her, and it was great to see a McKay romance a woman for a change. I liked that they dated instead of just falling into bed together. And even though Colt has a spectacular temper, I love his loyalty and stubborn nature. And he sure knew how to sizzle up the pages with India--romantically and otherwise.

India: I didn't expect to like her. I thought she'd be hard and flippant, but India had a sweetness about her that made her perfect for Colt because he's got a softer side to him too. And her temper certainly rivaled his which I thought was just hysterical. I didn't expect her to have insecurities about dating and love and men, but I liked that she did, because really, all women do. I loved that she stood up to his mother, and that she was honest enough with herself to admit that she loved him and accept his love in return. She saw Colt for who he was, not who he had been and that was what Colt needed. It was also great to see two best friends fall in love with one another.

I really enjoyed this read. It was hot, honest, romantic, sweet by turns and reminded us that the person we used to be isn't the person we are--Colt's family learned that lesson. I think what I liked the most about this book is how it made you think about family. How family defines us far more than we think, and yet how they can also not even see the person we really are. In the end, Colt's family realized how wrong they were about who they thought Colt was, and I was glad they mended fences because that's what families ought to do--mend fences when wrongs are made.
