Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Reinforced walls Chris. I was thinking instead of trying for connecting rooms, we could have railed walk-ways from the upper-stories of the house to the tree-house...or tree houses. It would be much more picturesque.

Dawn (breakofdawn) | 860 comments My fiance likes green things. Asparagus and broccoli. Which are great... But I am SO sick of asparagus and broccoli. I want kale and brussels sprouts and squash and cabbage and greens of all sorts! VARIETY!!!

Don't get me wrong.. I love fried food.. It just saps my energy. As does meat. I need carbs and veggies to survive.. That's all. I could skip meat altogether, I get enough protein from other place to not need it.

Do you have a kettlebell? I love the Iron Core kettlebell series: http://www.amazon.com/Iron-Core-Kettl...

I think it's a good place to start. I started with a 10lbs kettlebell. Just make sure to buy cast iron and not vinyl. The vinyl ones break and can fly around the room - possibly harming your puppy.

Dawn (breakofdawn) | 860 comments LOL, my puppy.. He's the most skittish huge dog I've ever met. He's afraid of kittens.. I lift an eyebrow at him and he cries and runs... Greyhounds.

So yeah, he's long gone when I work out. Too many sudden movements. I don't know about a kettleball though.. I use 2 pound hand weights (yep, 2, not a typo) and my arms ache later. I can bench 50 lbs... But only a set of 8 and a half.

I have arms like a weak toddler :P

I'm really intrigued by the Zuzka Light (Zwow) work outs right now. I heard she was super relatable and looked up her youtube work outs... I immediately hated her (she's perfect) and couldn't understand how she could possibly be relatable. But then I watched.. It really is good. She's actually working out, tired, sweating, struggling. It's not some perfect trainer talking about how tired they know you are, it's someone doing the whole work out.

I just don't know if I'll be able to handle it.. It seems intense. We'll see tonight!

message 1110: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) I think everyone I know is on some kind of diet right now. As my zumba instructor says "Summer is coming!"

I challenge myself every month with a new personal goal rather than doing a New Year's resolution. This month is a cooking challenge. My goal is not to eat out this month (except for lunch once a week) and try out a new recipe once a week. I'm also doing a squat challenge with a co-worker. I don't know how I got talked into that one.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Try legumes Dawn. I know there's a slight draw back to beans in the diet but that can be dealt with. High fiber along with the green vegs. help.

Look at all the advice now, wow.

Chris we need a fully equipped gourmet kitchen with commercial grade appliances to.

It should probably have several workstations just in case some of us want different things for dinner. He's going to need a large pantry and walk in freezer as well.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Don't forget power generation. The place should be self-sustaining. Well with water filtration, livestock, solar cells, windmills, fuel-fed backup generator. Green houses but also useable fields for seasonal vegetables and grains (for us and the animals). Then we'll also need orchards.

You'll be sore for the first week or so but you should loose the weight (or at least an inch).

KBs are better than dumbbells in this instance because they are a single bell. It makes you use your whole body not just your arms.

message 1131: by Dawn, Dawnerys, Mother of Modding (new)

Dawn (breakofdawn) | 860 comments I'll have to check that out..

Just finished the Zcut (Zuzka) power cardio workout number one. Holy shit. Burpees... Can die. My fiance is a joker and shot some video of me flailing.. It was killer.

When I say finished.. I mean went until my muscles wouldn't work anymore. It was a lot of jumping, and eventually my feet wouldn't move when I tried. I worked up a sweat though and I never sweat, so that's awesome! Now time for some homemade healthy vegetable lo mein.. Yummy!

Here's an example of a Zuzka workout. Not the one I did, that's a DVD, but you get the idea:

(warning, she is sexy... so it's almost NSFW.. workout porn.. lol)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0hu6...

A lot of the moves in the workout I did are in that video, just no weights.

message 1139: by Nyssa (new)

Nyssa | 2023 comments Oh is too much..... Sorry for whatever else I've missed...

Note on diets .. Go low carb/carb free for a month and you will be amazed at how much you lose in the beginning. Its more of a lifestyle change than a diet, so you are apt to gain the weight back once you go back to eating "regular" carbs, unless, you are also exercising regularly. But, the initial weight loss, when you truly go low carb ( 25 gms) a day or less, is astonishing.

I felt the same way, until I did it.. LOL I lost 30lbs in 3 - 4 months. I haven't been faithful to the plan during the last month (I've had a lot going on and It does get tiring, to be honest) but I work out often, so thats helped to keep my weight down.

message 1150: by Dawn, Dawnerys, Mother of Modding (new)

Dawn (breakofdawn) | 860 comments I just can't see doing all of that for 5 pounds. I lost 25 pounds years ago just by calorie counting, and am now down to the lowest I should be in my bmi, so 5 is the most I should loose. My doctor even wants me to gain 5 from where I am now, but I'll let that happen after the wedding. If even then... Or put it on as muscle now... That's what I've been aiming for.
