*snicker*
Goodreads is going to drive me to distraction. The sight keeps putting books from my "read" shelf back on my "to read shelf".

Agreed. I tried to turn off emails since I was getting 50-100 a day. It didn't work, even after checking the settings 3 times. So, I turned off ALL notifications. That worked. Then I turned on just site notifications and they don't really work.
So, yeah. If you say something to me, and I don't respond, it's because GR is ridiculous.
Grump! Had to reset my KP to factory settings this morning! I was adding a book via Calibre last night, ejected the KP when I was done as usual, but got a message on my Kindle that it did not eject properly, and could do a think afterwards. So I did a hard reset and it got stuck on the Kindle splash screen (with the little digital circle) for hours. I finally has to just go to bed and wait until this morning. Got up, saw the generic (non ad) screen, turned the thing on and..nothing. My books were gone, and it the Kindle said I had to register it. However, when I went into the registration section, it showed that it was already registered. There was nothing left to do but Reset. :(
Thankfully, due to my anal retentiveness with Calibre, I had created a "Books Currently on Your Kindle" list, so I can add them back. The only irritation, is that there may have been a book or 3 that I had sent directly to my Kindle instead of adding them to Calibre first; but I'm not sure. /rant

There are daffodils blooming, for goodness sake! Put the SNOW AWAY.
Please tell me if you can read this article: Must-Read Fiction for Spring 2014: Identity Theft, Dystopia, and Burlesque.
Mike (the Paladin) wrote: "I can't open the link."Darn! Thanks. Its from the site Bookish. I didn't register, I did get on their email mailing list, and was wondering if that would allow me to share any of their articles.
MrsJoseph wrote: "I can't even click on it at all."Oh! Sorry, there was an extra space link. Does it work now?
Nyssa wrote: "Thankfully, due to my anal retentiveness with Calibre, I had created a "Books Currently on Your Kindle" list, so I can add them back."Ooooh, this is a great idea. :D
MrsJoseph wrote: "I'd just like to say that it is SNOWING which is total bullshit."Lol. Currently, -17C, -27C windchill. Going to have a blamy high of -11C. The normal high is 7C.

We didn't listen... we didn't listen... Oh god why didn't we listen?
I think I read recently that while North America's winter has been fubared, the rest of the world has been warmer/milder...Meanwhile, I kinda feel bad but we're meant to have high 50s and low 60s this week, so I'm practically dancing here in Philly...

I was able to restart it and not lose my books. It was a tense hour or so before I figured that out, though.

I turned on my Kindle this morning and all the screen said was "YOU DON'T READ ME ENOUGH AND I'M GOING TO KILL YOU."I put it in the book case with the glass door in front if the books and I'm watching it...

LOL!
Homeinmyshoes wrote: "^LOL. Of my reading this year, 25 paper books and no e-books."
Only 8 out of my 20, so far, have been paper.
My mix has been about 50/50. During the winter, ebooks from the library are more convenient than the paper ones.
All my books have been ebooks so far! I read a lot on the train and traveling so its just easier to take with me. Do miss the feel and smell of a new book sometimes though...
My breakdown: 7 ebooks
4 DTBs
10 audiobooks
I'm currently working on 1 ebook and 1 audiobook with 1 DTB coming up next.
Hmm, you guys made me curious so I had to check mine:6 DTBs
3 Audios
7 ebooks
My DTB counts the Narnia omnibus as one. I think my DTBs will increase in the future though because I just joined 2 book clubs. One of them requires I buy the book (at a discount) from the bookstore the club is hosted at.
I do find it funny that when I read most DTBs now I have reading supplies to go with it. Either post it notes or book darts that I got from the latest Book Riot Quarterly Box, a pen and a notebook to jot down thoughts while reading. Plus, can't forget the cuppa tea. Reading is serious business!
Mike (the Paladin) wrote: "Consider most paper is actually made from brush pulp etc. it's a bit dramatic but there you you go."So they're actually DBBs?
I buy books in bulk usually. I'll order 10-20 through amazon, and then read them over the next few months. Lately, I've been buying 1-2 at a time at my local store, putting off reading some of the ones that I own but haven't read.
What I find, when I read DTBs, is that I seriously miss being able to visit the dictionary with the tap of a finger. I have actually caught myself in the act of going to tap on the page. ... LOL
